It's that time again. Everyone knows how it goes. You're comfy in your RP for a while and then things drop off. People move on, communities close, real life happens. It is the name of the game in any RP community, and it's no one's fault. It just happens. Usually I dust myself off, pick up my weird little dudes and go out in search of a new group to slot myself into. Usually I wouldn't be making this kind of post.

I don't know if it is just me, but things feel different this time around? I have found myself in a spot where I am just not sure how people go about finding new RP. I know there are always venues open for me to just drop into and see what happens, but I haven't found that to generate much more than passing slice of life RP. Which is fine. No shade. I like that from time to time, too. But, it rarely brings about long term connections and I would like to find connections that are, maybe, a little deeper? I am a sucker for collaborative storytelling and character growth and development. Friends, enemies, lovers, whatever. It doesn't matter as long as there is potential for depth.

I have started to wonder if the answer isn't to try and join an RP FC again. I haven't had the best experiences in RP FCs in the past. I came to the conclusion a few years ago that I just don't enjoy the closed off nature of them, nor am I really fond of heavily DM'd content, lots of rolling, or ttrpg-like systems with lots of rules and character sheets. I prefer a collaborative and narrative approach to my RP, just in general. And for a while it seemed easier to find that outside of the structure of an RP FC.

But not so much anymore?

Thraciel is most easily recognized from her travels about Hydaelyn. Though she does not often linger in public spaces for longer than she deems necessary, she does need to eat and rest, and can likely be spotted at the local watering hole on more than one occasion. Just why she is traveling is unknown to most, though she claims it is simply a necessity of her livelihood.

Speaking of, Thraciel does need a means to pay for said meals and bedrest. While not exactly a mercenary, she has taken on odd jobs to make ends meet. From escorting caravan goods to rescuing pets out of trees, she's done it all, dignified or not. She does have her principles, however, and won't take jobs that involve things such as killing political rivals or retrieving cursed artifacts. She believes such things are best left to others- or alone at all.

While her origins are shrouded in mystery Thraciel is Ishgardian- at least, by her own claim. Her history with her people is not pristine, however, and those 'in the know', few they may be, tend to scorn her for her past crimes. Just what it was she did is not common knowledge, but the rumors spread, and the feeling remains- most Ishgardians do not trust her, if even solely on general principle. One such rumor is that she drank of dark magics and killed her own company, but it is not spoken of openly and remains unproven.

Most important to Thraciel is her mission to exterminate minions of the void. Where voidsent arise, she is there to send them back to their realm screaming, or else drive them away from whatever or whoever they threaten. For such a level of dedication to this mission, she claims to have no reason, nor need one, simply acting out of some personal duty. Regardless, where void walks, it is at least passingly known that Thraciel is sure to follow.

Looking for: RP linkshells & med to small size groups. Thraciel fits best with folks that RP adventure and exploration themes, dark themes, intrigue, combat and such- but casual downtime RP is fine too! If it fits with her hooks, she's generally good for it.

Not looking for: Romance RP and ERP. If you happen to RP a flirty character, that's fine, I won't police your roleplay. But it won't go anywhere with Thraciel.

The concept is simple: Send IC letters/postcards to other characters (via Asks).

You don't have to handwrite them either. Why not pick a font that best represents your character's handwriting, and type it instead? Then just hand it to the Post Moogles (upload it to the recipient's Asks).

As with real life letters, there's no requirements on length, or frequency. You can write as much (or little) as you want, when you want.

You need some manner of beast or bounty killed. While Xochitl is a fighter-for-hire, she still has a moral compass. She'll hunt dangerous beasts without compulsion, having spent a number of years hunting vidraal in Tural as a Landsguard. When it comes to Spoken targets of bounty missions, If you have an official, sealed bounty from one of the Grand Companies, she'll help you. If you don't, she won't bite. She's not going to murder people in cold blood just on someone's say-so.

You need protection. If you need a bodyguard or an escort through dangerous territory or situations, she's more than capable of providing what you need.

You are or were a citizen of Tural. Tural-based characters are welcome to have known Xochitl from her time in the Landsguard. She spent twelve years touring Tural on various patrols and hunts, which makes her well-connected and well-traveled across the whole of Tural.

You are an Arena Enthusiast. Xochitl is a world-famous arena fighter from the Iron Arena of Dalmasca (headcannon location). With a capacity of 10,000 spectators, gamblers, and fight enthusiasts, Xochitl fought for years beneath their banners. She even travelled the world on tour, fighting in various reputable fighting pits and arenas the world over in order to drawl people to the Iron Arena.

Friends, acquaintances, and adventuring buddies, age 21+. Nothing against younger players, I’m just a 40-year old lady and enjoy playing the game with other like-minded adults.

People who like growing things organically, particularly relationships. I don’t like making things up out of thin air and I don’t like  friendships and romances that flourish overnight. Put time and effort into creating things!

In-game RP sessions, primarily!  (Discord available for OOC coordination.)  I’ve had pretty bad luck with keeping Discord threads and the like active, so I prefer in-game sessions whenever possible. Not to say those methods are completely off the table, but reserved for folks who are genuinely interested in upkeeping and maintaining them.

Lore flexibility. I’m well-versed in FFXIV lore but I don’t need/want people around me who want to hammer the Nth of the lore and make roleplay feel more like homework. As long as it’s a good story and an engaging character, that should be enough!

Story and Character-driven Plotlines.  I love a good epic story.  I love long-term connections, be it friendship or rivalry. I thrive in a story-driven environment, if there's no story, then the RP just feels empty and more like filler until people find something better to do than there is a passion for writing.

Late Night/Overnight Friends. I tend to keep late hours, so people who are around/available between 8pm and 2am (Central US Time) are ideal.

People who aren’t afraid of OOC communication.  Seriously, this is a big one.  If you can’t talk to me OOC about a session, what you like, don’t like, or have issues with then please don’t seek me out.  I view roleplay as collaborative storytelling that we should all have fun with and a large part of that is talking things through OOC to ensure we’re all on the same page and having fun.

IC & OOC Blending. If you’re a person that can’t keep your IC and OOC separate, don’t seek me out.  I am not my character.  My character is not me.  Whatever interactions you have with my character are not a reflection of my views/personality as the Player.  Do not conflate them.

ERP, gore, extreme violence, torture, horror, et cetera. I have a pretty stressful life, I RP and play games to relax and these topics don’t contribute to that. At the very least, please ASK me before starting anything involving these themes.

These first two, especially, are deal breakers and I will cease contact with people that can’t respect these boundaries (which is why OOC communication is a MUST with me.) If you aren’t sure – please ASK!

Most roll-based system RP.  I’m a big fan of D&D-style systems, if they incorporate character sheets that allow Characters to have aspects to them that shine and fail.  Being subject to random RNG without attributing bonuses for character skill and experience feels imbalance to me.  (And RNG generally hates me, so... XD)

Mundane-focused RP.  Slice of life, hanging out, and less-active scenes are fine, but only in moderation. If that’s all you care to do, Xochitl and I are probably not a good fit, because we both are adventuresome souls that like getting involved in things!

Experienced Roleplayer.   I’ve been roleplaying for almost 35years now. I love discussing roleplay ideas and implementing them. I’m not worried about “spoilers” or ruining immersion by discussing and planning storylines OOC. Planning ensures that everyone has a chance to contribute ideas that are fun for *them* so everyone has a good experience.

Patient and Understanding.  I tend to be patient with people of all roleplay styles and experiences. Just be courteous if you need to AFK mid-RP for an extended period or reschedule the scene. I understand well that Real Life and your own well-being come first, so just be up-front with me about things. 

Special Information.   I am a 40+ year old woman with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. This means I may need to cancel plans last-minute depending on my pain levels/fatigue or I may need to leave mid-scene. This is NOT an indicator of interest – or lack thereof – I have a disease that needs careful tending and I have to listen to the needs of my body before anything else.

Animal Magnetism: Giida has the unique ability to communicate with animals. A great deal of her childhood friends were animals and while she never thought it to be strange, as she steps back out into society, she realizes that not everyone can just… inherently communicate with the animals around them. Weird! But she is more than happy to talk to them, listen to them, or help them if they are in pain or discomfort. 

Mageling: Giida is a skilled little mage-let, and has been working on her craft since she was small. She enjoys learning new techniques and tricks and would happily listen to someone talk about magic and its different applications for hours. 

What is this?: Giida hasn't been around people for a long time, and quite literally lived in a cave for the majority of her life, so she is new to cities and society and people in general! She has missed most world events and is still trying to catch up to the present. She loves hearing stories about people's lives or things that occurred that she has missed or just how the world has moved on from how she left it when she was a child. Pretty much everything she learns excites her and she is an avid listener.
