A tug on your belt loop brings you to a stop right before the threshold of the no-hunt zone. You turn, coming face to face with sharp, scarlet eyes and a raised silver brow.
"Uh, to finish this mission?" you remind him, muting the beep of your Hunter's Watch. "That you promised I'd get done on time," you add, aiming a pointed glance at the muscular arm still restraining you.
"I did," Sylus concedes with a guiltless smirk, "And you will. But while we're on the topic of promises, what was it you promised me again?"
"Sylus, they're loaded." You don't even bother sighing anymore as you let him pull you back into the shadows and take one of your guns from its holster. "I checked before we even left the base."
"I know, I trust you, sweetie." He starts examining it anyway, taking his time with the chamber, the safety, the charge. "But you have me here, so why not use me, hm?"
You've understood since you told him the news why he needs to do this, why he needs something to take charge of. It's why you promised him you'd be extra careful in combat, why you promised you'd let him take the measures he needs to ensure your safety.
But as you spot the movement of your targets through the chain link fence that marks the barrier of the no-hunt zone, you can't help but start tapping your palm against your thigh in impatience when he takes his time looking over your other gun, checking your weapons for a second time that night.
At first, it was fun having him join you on your missions again. It's been a long time since you've had the chance to work together, and you almost forgot how much you enjoyed hearing his dry commentary in your comms channel, feeling his steady presence behind you during confrontations, seeing the way he moves and supports you during combat.
Now, though? You aren't sure you can take five more months of reminders, warnings, weapon checks, and Mephisto tailing you to work.
A work you might not even have much longer if you keep completing your missions late. Last week, it was delayed because Sylus wanted to double-check your (perfectly reliable) intel with his "sources." The week before that, you had to take sick leave because he wouldn't let you get out of bed after your first battle with morning sickness.
"Sylus," you bite out, watching the wanderers edge closer to vanishing out of your sight. "They're getting away."
He scoffs, unconcerned. "As if we can't catch them."
"We won't have to go catch them if we hurry up!" You snatch the weapon from his hand and reholster it yourself before stepping around him, only to run into an outstretched arm that sweeps you in front of him once again.
This time, you do sigh. Loudly. Sylus' mouth quirks as his hands start to examine your Hunter's uniform.
"Everything is fine, Sylus," you add softly, tone sincere. "You need to have at least some faith here."
"I do have faith," he drawls, tugging at the ties of your utility belt, tightening the straps along your sides, lingering over the plate covering your abdomen. He locks eyes with you, the seriousness of his gaze contrasting with the crooked grin digging into his cheek. "In myself."
You gather a breath, opening your mouth to tell him that isn't what you meant, when a distant roar rolls through the field, stealing your attention and springing you back into action, urgency coursing back through you.
"Let's go." You grab his hand and tug, raising a brow at the man who can practically teleport, moving like molasses behind you until he brings you both to a standstill at the entrance. "Sylus. They're getting away, what now?" you groan to the sky.
"Sweetie, did you check the-"
"Yes, I'm sure I did."
"Well, what about the-"
"Yes. I'm sure you did."
"I'm being serious, sweetie, what if your-"
Another roar echoes around you, further this time, and your patience finally snaps.
Ripping your hand out of his, you rise to your toes, take the edges of his tense jaw between your hands, and blurt out, "Sweetie, I'll be fine."
Both of you pause as you realize what you said. For half a second, panic flares in your chest as his jaw slackens in your palms, afraid he's thinking you're mocking him, that you're trivializing his concerns, ignoring his fears.
But then the dim light of the street lamps catches the shades of pink blooming along his cheekbones. The way his eyelids lower, flickering to your mouth and back up again. One of his hands coming up to cup yours against his cheek.
Oh.
You do as your husband taught you and press your advantage against your opponent, capturing his lips with yours in a slow, reassuring kiss. You pull back slowly to place his palm over your abdomen and murmur, "We'll be fine. Okay?"
Not wanting to give your overbearing guardian any more time to recover or delay you, you break away and start jogging toward the distant roar of wanderers, calling out jokingly, "I thought you said we can catch them!"
"Hm." He shakes his head with a fond smile. "Guess who else I can catch?"
And with one step forward Sylus vanishes, a haze of black-red mist the only trace of the man ready to protect the two most important things in his world.
He doesnât knock the first time he shows up at her door.
He canât. His hand freezes halfway, knuckles white around the small paper bag of apples he bought from the old orchard on the outskirts of Linkon, the same one they used to sneak into as kids, laughing until their sides hurt. The bag crinkles under his grip. He exhales once, sharp, and knocks anyway.
She opens the door like sheâs been expecting someone else.
Her eyes widen just a fraction, the way they always did when he surprised her but the surprise melts fast into something guarded, careful. âCaleb.â His name sounds different in her mouth now. Softer. Sadder. Like sheâs testing if it still fits.
âHey, pipsqueak.â He forces a grin, the kind that used to make her roll her eyes and shove his shoulder. It doesnât land the same. âBrought reinforcements.â He lifts the bag. âThought⊠maybe pie? If youâre not too busy saving the world.â
She hesitates. Then steps aside. âCome in.â
The apartment hasnât changed much. Same photos on the shelf, him in his flight suit, her at graduation, both of them grinning like the future was a promise. But there are new things too. A black leather jacket slung over the back of a chair thatâs too big for her frame. A crimson scarf draped on the coat rack like spilled wine. He doesnât comment. He just sets the apples on the counter and starts peeling one with the pocket knife heâs carried since he was sixteen.
They talk in fragments at first.
Safe things. The weather. Her latest mission. His ârecoveryâ He doesnât go into detail, even when he feels her concerned gaze on him. He just keeps peeling, handing her slices on the blade like he used to when they were kids and she refused to eat the skin.
She takes them. Their fingers brush. She flinches, tiny, almost invisible but he feels it like a slap.
Weeks turn into months.
He comes by every few days. Brings groceries when her fridge is empty. Fixes the leaky faucet sheâs been ignoring. Sits on her couch while she works late, pretending to read flight manuals but really just watching the way her hair falls over her shoulder when sheâs focused. Sometimes she lets him stay for dinner. Sometimes she lets him kiss her cheek goodbye. Once, she lets him hold her hand on the balcony while the city lights flicker below them like dying stars, and he thinks, maybe, maybe they can rebuild this from the wreckage.
He starts sleeping better.
The nightmares still come, fire, metal twisting, her voice screaming his name but theyâre quieter when he knows heâll see her tomorrow.
Then one night he shows up unannounced.
Heâs got takeout from their old favorite place.
He knocks. No answer. He waits. Knocks again.
The door opens.
Not by her.
Sylus stands there, coat open, shirt unbuttoned at the collar, hair mussed like someoneâs been running fingers through it. Crimson eyes flick over Caleb once, assessing, then soften into something almost pitying.
âSheâs in the shower,â Sylus says, voice low, casual. Like this is normal. Like he belongs here. âYou can wait inside if you want.â
Caleb doesnât move.
The takeout bag suddenly weighs a thousand pounds.
Sylus doesnât shut the door. Just leans against the frame, arms crossed, watching him with that unreadable calm. âShe didnât tell you.â Itâs not a question.
Calebâs throat closes. âHow long?â
Sylus exhales through his nose, not quite a laugh. âLong enough that I stopped being surprised when she said your name in her sleep.â
The words land like a punch to the sternum. Calebâs vision tunnels. He hears the shower shut off in the background, the soft pad of her bare feet on tile. She rounds the corner in one of Sylusâs shirts, too big, sleeves rolled, hem brushing her thighs and freezes when she sees him.
âCaleb-â Her voice cracks.
He looks at her. The faint bruise on her collarbone thatâs not from a fight. The way her lips are still swollen. The guilt in her eyes thatâs been there for weeks and he was too desperate to see it.
He sets the takeout bag down on the welcome mat. Carefully. Like it might explode if he drops it.
âI thoughtâŠâ His voice is rough, barely there. âI thought we were trying again.â
âWe were.â She takes a step forward. Stops. âI just⊠I didnât know how to tell you that I-â
âThat you moved on.â He finishes it for her. Because saying it himself might make it real.
She flinches. âIt wasnât like that. Not at first. You were gone, Caleb. For so long. And I-â
âYou thought I was dead.â He nods once. Slow. âI get it.â
He doesnât. Not really. But he says it anyway because the alternative is screaming until his throat bleeds, and heâs already broken enough pieces of himself.
Sylus watches them both, silent now, like heâs giving them this last moment before he claims whatâs his.
Caleb looks at her one more time, memorises the way her eyes shine with tears she wonât let fall, the way her hands twist in the hem of that too big shirt like sheâs trying to hold herself together.
âIâm glad you werenât alone,â he says quietly. And he means it. Even if it guts him.
He turns. Starts walking. Doesnât look back when she calls his name. Doesnât stop when the door clicks shut behind him.
The hallway lights buzz overhead.
He makes it to the elevator before his knees buckle.
Slides down the wall.
Buries his face in his hands.
And for the first time since the explosion, he lets himself cry, ugly, silent sobs that shake his whole body because the worst part isnât that sheâs with someone else.
Itâs that she finally found a way to stop waiting for him.
Summary: You and Xavier escape the clutches of your captors. What will your relationship be now?
Tw: physical violence, mentions of blood/wounds, swearing, reader wishes they were dead at one point.
Word count: 2k
A/N: Hey guys!! This is part 2 of the Xavier fic that I wrote. You can find part 1 here!! Hopefully this is as good as part 1.
Suddenly, you heard some commotion in the hallway outside the door. With a loud crash, four people dressed all in black burst into the room.Â
âWho the hell are you people?â The lead captor seethed. Only the sound of punches and grunts from guards was heard in response.Â
âWeâre here to take back what is ours.â One of the masked men demanded. He lifted his mask partially and looked down at you. He gave you a wink, and you smiled at the familiar face.Â
âGo ahead, I donât need them anymore.â The lead captor said. This made the masked manâs eyebrows furrow.
âYouâre letting them go willingly?â Jeremiah questioned, confused.Â
âSure, they already gave me everything I needed.â The lead captor smiled. Jeremiah looked over at you.Â
âWhat does he mean?â He asked.
âIt doesnât matter right now. Iâll tell you later. Letâs just get Xavier out of here.â You insisted pushing him off.Â
âNo, what is he talking about?â He argued back. You sighed, getting ready to disappoint them.Â
âIâŠmight have told them the location of our secret base in this kingdom,â you say quickly. You can see his face drop. âBut it was all to get Xavierâs memories back!â You said defending yourself.Â
âWell, did you get them back?â He asked pointedly.
âNoâŠâ You confessed. He put his hand on his face and grumbled.Â
âWeâll talk about this later. For now, letâs just get you and Xavier out of here.â He said.Â
âWhat are you guys talking about? Iâm not going anywhere. I live here!â Xavier argued.
âReally, Xavier? Whereâs your house, huh? Where do you live?â You countered. Heâs quiet for a moment, thinking about it. You could see the wheels turning in his head.Â
âI live in this castle. Iâm a part of the royal guard.â He argued back. You grunted in frustration. Heâs more gone than you thought.Â
âJeremiah, help me!â You shouted.
âXavier, itâs me, Jeremiah. You remember me, donât you?â He asks.Â
âNo, I donât. I donât know any of you people.â Xavier insisted.
âYou two, grab him and cuff him so he doesnât run away. Weâll sort out his memory issues when we get back to our kingdom.â Jeremiah said. Two of his men grabbed Xavier.Â
âWhat are you doing?â Xavier shouted, struggling in their grasp. âHelp! Iâm being kidnapped!â He looked toward your captors for help, but they only stood still and watched. It hurt your heart to see Xavier in this state, bound by another set of restraints, but you reminded yourself it was for his own good this time. Jeremiah looked over the thin piece of fabric across your chest that was protecting your modesty and averted his eyes quickly.Â
âHere, take my shirt,â he said, taking it off and handing it to you.Â
âThank you,â you said, pulling it on. It was loose and baggy on you, and it stuck to your wounds.
You were led out of the castle and started the journey home. It wasnât easy. Xavier kept trying to break free of the menâs hold. And when he was successful he would run back. Eventually, he calmed down enough for a rope to be tied to his cuffs so that he didnât have to be held.Â
Nights were the worst. Xavier wouldnât sleep and had to be put to sleep using a somnolence spell. Every time you would wake up screaming, you would turn over expecting to find comfort in the one you loved, but all you found was cold and empty ground. Youâd try to calm him down by stroking his hair every time he woke up screaming, but he would just push you away saying that you should mind your own business.Â
Once back in your own kingdom, you kept to the countryside and avoided major cities if possible. The kingdom didnât need to see its members in this kind of shape. After stares from the staff inside the palace, you were taken straight to the healerâs quarters.Â
âI donât want to go, I want to get cleaned up by myself.â You said, which was code for you crying and isolating in your room.Â
âYou need to get your wounds treated, at least,â Jeremiah said. You looked down at your bloodied shirt and forgot about your burns and other wounds. Yes, they hurt, but it was nothing compared to the emotional pain you felt.Â
âWhy? Would it be so bad if they got infected?â You askedÂ
âYes, it would be. Now, walk to the healer's quarters with me or I will have you carried there just like Xavier was.â You sigh with a groan but comply.
âIt could be worse,â he says a few minutes into the walk.Â
âHow? How could anything be worse than this?â You snapped.Â
âYou could be dead, or have all of your memories erased,â he said, trying to lighten the mood.
âIâd rather be dead than live this nightmare.â You gripped. Â
You both got to the healerâs quarters, and a kind, young woman greeted you with a smile. Although your heart dropped when you heard shouting coming from the room next to you. Undoubtedly, that being Xavier. A healer walked out of the room and her eyes lit up when she saw you.Â
âPerfect! Could you come in here and help us calm him down?â She asked.Â
âI mean, I can try, but I donât know how successful Iâll be.â You said.Â
âPlease, any help is appreciated.â She begged. You both walked into the room where a healer was trying to put some salve on Xavierâs burn wounds.Â
âDonât put that stuff on me! I donât know what that is!â He argued, struggling in his binds.Â
âSir, itâs salve to help your wounds heal. Itâs safe.â The healer kindly reminded him. He saw you walk into the room and, suddenly, his attention was focused on you.Â
âWhy are you here?â He asked, frustrated. Your heart hurt at his harsh pointed words, but you know he didnât mean them. He was just scared.Â
âIâm here because youâre giving these ladies a hard time.â You scolded, putting your hands on your hips.Â
âThey're trying to put mystery stuff on me!â He argued.
âItâs stuff to help your wounds heal! You donât want them to get infected, do you?â you argued back. For some reason, it worked. He let the young healer apply the salve with a sulk.Â
âMiss, can we take a look at your wounds as well?â One of the healers came up behind you, startling you.Â
âIâm fine,â You replied. Jeremiah gave you a stern look, âok, fine,â you sigh. You started to take off your shirt.Â
âWhat are you doing? You canât do that in here!â Xavier shouted.
âWhy not?â You asked.Â
âBecause I canât see you without a shirt!â He yells. A small smile spread across your face. Even though his memories got erased, heâs still a gentleman.Â
âIâll go into the other room.â You said.Â
âOk, good.â He said.Â
You followed the healer into the room next door. She filled a basin with water and grabbed a cloth from the cabinet while you sat on the exam bench. She diped the cloth in water and dabbed it on each of your wounds. Cleaning off any dirt and debris that got into it from the journey home. You hissed at the contact with your skin. You tried reaching for Xavierâs hand instinctively.
âSorry!â She apologized quickly.Â
âItâs ok,â you grunted. She opened a tin of salve and applied it to your wounds. After she finished, she bandaged you up. She wrapped gauze around your torso and bandaged your arms. You felt like you were wearing a corset with how tightly they were wrapped. Thanking her, you put Jeremiahâs dirty shirt back on and walked back into the hallway. You stop outside Xavierâs room for a second, debating whether you should go back in or not. You still heard him shouting and fighting. You were about to reach for the doorknob before Jeremiah stopped you.Â
âGo, get some new clothes. Iâll deal with him.â He said. You gave him a small smile and started the journey to your room.Â
***
Once Xavierâs wounds were treated and bandaged, he was taken to one of the holding cells in the top part of the dungeon and bound to a chair while they tried to work on his mind. It pained you to see Xavier like this, but it was for his own good.Â
âWhy am I here? Why canât I go back to my own kingdom?â He shouted, struggling in his chair.Â
âXavier, you live here with me.â You pleaded.Â
âWhy would I live with you? I donât even know you.â He said. The memory makers were busy trying to recreate memories for him so that he would at least believe he was from this kingdom. After a while, they finally walked over quietly, calmly. The memory maker held out a dish with glowing orbs inside it.Â
âWhatâs that?â You asked.Â
âThese are memories made by us. They are fragile and highly sensitive.âÂ
âXavier Shen, you live in this kingdom.â The memory maker said and lifted one bright yellow orb with his fingers. He touched it to Xavierâs temple allowing it to absorb. A mind controller whispered in his ear, reinforcing what the memory maker said. You could see the gears starting to turn in his head, the cognitive dissonance causing him great confusion.Â
âIâŠdonâtâŠknowâŠwhat you mean,â Xavier says, eyes closed, brows knitted in confusion.Â
âYou live in this kingdom. You are a part of the kingdomâs spy fleet,â the memory maker said, floating another yellow orb out of the dish. He pressed it to Xavierâs temple again, allowing it to absorb. The mind controller whispered in his ear again. You could see he was really trying to fight it. The mind controller continued to whisper in his ear.
âIâm a part ofâŠâ he trailed off. It sounded like they were making good progress. After a few minutes, Xavierâs face started to relax. His eyes unscrewed and he looked down at the ground.
âXavier! Xavier, look at me!â You called, trying to run up to him. Jeremiah held you back.
âXavier Shen!â The memory maker called. Xavier looked up at him. âFrom what kingdom do you hail?âÂ
âI hail from this kingdom.â Xavier said. You smiled.Â
âAnd what is your role here in this kingdom?â The memory maker inquired.Â
âIâm a spy for this kingdom. I gather intelligence from other kingdoms and relay it to the king.â Xavier replied. You smiled even more. Hope bubbled up inside of you.Â
âI think our work here is done.â The memory maker said. Xavier is let out of his binds and sits there. The memory maker and mind controller walked away. You ran up to him.Â
âXavier, baby, it's me. Do you remember me?â You asked hopefully, holding his cheeks in your hands. Those sapphire eyes that you loved with all your heart looked up at you.Â
âIâm told that youâre my partner, but thatâs all I know,â He says hesitantly. âWhat was your name again?â He asked, gently taking your hands away from his face. That sudden bubble of hope just popped.Â
âI thought you brought his memories back?â You shouted at the two men behind you.Â
âWe convinced him that he belonged to this kingdom,â The memory maker said, âbut thatâs all we could do.â
âYou built those memories! Why canât you make more with me?â You shouted.Â
âMemory making is a very delicate process, implanting them is even more delicate. You canât overwhelm the mind or else,âÂ
âOr else what?â You shoutedÂ
âOr else you risk severing them from reality.â He said, more firmly this time. âYou're going to have to make new ones with him yourself.âÂ
âMakeâŠnew ones?â You stammered, voice cracking.Â
âYes,â the memory maker said. âTry showing him around the palace, around the usual places that you go.â You sighed.Â
âIf I do that, then will he get his memories back?â You asked.
âProbably not, it will take a miracle to get his memories back.â The memory maker said. You looked back at Xavier walking over and capturing Jeremiah in a hug.Â
âItâs going to be okay,â he said as you cried into his shoulder. The Xavier you knew was gone, but that doesnât mean you canât make new memories with him.

demons eating at my brain to write drunk!caleb,,,so
imagine drunk!caleb, whos the most pathetic, whiny drunk ever. holding onto your shirt like youâll disappear from his sight if he doesnât cling to you like a vice.
drunk!caleb, whoâs eyes are glassy, cheeks flushed a pretty shade of pink, his lips stuck in a perpetual pout because you refuse to kiss him.
drunk!caleb, who looks at you as if youâve hung the stars in the sky, cupping your face while rambling on about how gorgeous you are and how heâs the luckiest man alive.
drunk!caleb, who presses open mouthed kisses on your neck, sucking and licking the bites as if his life depends on it.
drunk!caleb, who chokes out a fucking sob when you take care of himâwashing his hair, changing his outfit and tucking him into his bed when heâs too drunk to function.
Hi!! Another request I'm so sorry đđ I love the way you write, so, if you can, I've got another idea for the drabble I would love to read. Xavier centered, if it's not hard.
(TW ED, CW bipolar)
Usually, I don't eat a lot when it's depressive episodes because I don't have appetite, maybe, once in a few days, so when I'm "leaving" that depressive phase, my friends make me eat, but recently I understood that I am kinda scared of eating? I try to distract myself just so I won't eat more than I did in depressive phase. I would love to see how Xavie would act in this situation, sorry if its too detailed!!
Hello again!
Thank you so much for the second request! I apologize that it took so long to get done, please enjoy!
You were sitting at the kitchen counter, staring at the plate Xavier had put in front of you. Fruit. Toast. Eggs. It was simple, kind of him to prepare for you, but your stomach twisted at the sight. You hadnât eaten much in days, honestly it had been barely enough to keep you alive, and now, with the depression lifting, clarity coming back to you, the idea of eating normally feltâŠterrifying.
Xavier slid into the chair beside you, his hand brushing yours gently. âStarlight,â he said softly. âYou donât have to eat it all. JustâŠJust try a bite. Thatâs enough.â
You shook your head, fingers hands twisting your napkin anxiously. âIâŠI donât know. Iâm scared,â you admitted, voice barely above a whisper. âWhat if I, what if I eat too much? What if I...â
âYou wonât,â he interrupted, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. âYour body needs fuel. You need it. I'm right here with you, you're not alone, we can do this together.â
You let out a shaky breath, trying to focus on him but the anxiety kept creeping up on you. Slowly, you picked up the fork, your hands trembling. Xavierâs eyes never left yours, you didn't understand how he could possibly be so patient with you.
âLook at me,â he said, voice soft but firm. âOne bite. Thatâs all. Iâm not asking for more than you can handle.â
You nodded, forcing the fork to your mouth. It was a small bite, you could barely taste it. Xavier smiled gently, squeezing your hand. âThatâs it,â he said. âSee? You did it. Thatâs enough for now.â
You exhaled, relief washing over you. He leaned closer, resting his forehead against yours. âWeâll take it slow. One bite at a time. No rush, no pressure.â
You swallowed, the fear still there but a little less now. âOkay,â you whispered. âOne bite at a time.â
Xavier kissed the top of your head, and you slowly picked up the fork, stabbing another piece of fruit. Maybe, with Xavier by your side, you could do this.
Zayne would definitely take off of work while youâre in a flare-up, youâd feel bad about it, but heâd reassure you, saying that you were his most important patient.
Caleb is no doctor like Zayne, but since heâs been by your side since childhood, he knows exactly how to make you feel somewhat better. POTS? He makes you salty foods. Asthma? He makes sure he has an inhaler on him at all times. He picks up your prescriptions from the pharmacy.
Rafayel would learn everything about your specific illness and this would inspire him to paint. He knows you feel worthless and guilty because of the things you canât do with your chronic illness. He makes you see the beauty in yourself and your body, even through the hardships that you face. He loves every part of you and will make sure you know that through his medium: art.
Xavier would absolutely love having days off of work with you, because you two would spend the entire day in bed. Whether itâs intimacy or sleeping. He doesnât mind. He just loves spending time with you.
Sylus in Passionate Appraisal. How caring he is, how soft he is with you⊠He feels as though he isnât good at taking care of sick people, but you love it when he takes care of you. He carries you in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, and pampers you until youâre feeling better.
The Love and Deepspace Boys reacting to MC going to camp out for the Starbucks Teddy Bear Cup.
Xavier: *sees message Gone Hunting. See you soon.* *A worried Xavier checks Find my Phone, she's at Starbucks...at 1am.* Xavier: For....A.....Cup??? Does she not enjoy sleep? Humanity has survived the Chronorift Catastrophe only to now fight over an overpriced cup. *"Don't forget to make alliances in the line." He texts her before going back to sleep*
Rafayel: You won't find any. I bought up all in Linkon and customised them. I painted one to look like a polar bear and gave another an artsybloublou hat. Now I'm selling them back for 2x the price. You call it a scam and scalping, cutie I call it a smart business investment. đ
Caleb: Pips....I'm coming with you. I can't have you fighting another mum in yoga pants again. When I pin down everyone in line with my evol, run just run, sprint in there and grab one for me too cause we gotta match. âĄ
Sylus: You're seriously risking your life for a glass teddy bear wearing a hat? *gives her a gun* I heard there's only two per store, if there's two ppl infront of you, do what you need to do. If you end up on the news, smile sweetly, Mug Shawtys and all. Text me if you need bail.
Zayne: Are you seriously going to act like a fool at Starbucks at this hour in the morning? *gets up at 3am* *goes to 24/7 grocery store, buys a bear shaped honey jar* *empties it* *makes mc's coffee in it and gives her*
Zayne: That Bearista cup costs $30 but common sense is free.

~ In honor of me breaking my 18 month streak of giving up energy drinks â maybe honor isnât the right word for returning to an add!ction but you get the point â here are some random bad habits I think the LaDs men have / had before :)
Xavier is a nail biter, Iâve said this before in an older post but iâm doubling down. He genuinely bites his fingers bloody, and in order to try and break that habit youâve started painting his nails. Not only does the polish taste bitter, but it makes him way less inclined to bite since he doesnât want to ruin all the hard work you did for him.
Rafayel smokes cigarettes every so often. Please donât k!ll me for this but tell me you canât see that man up late at night, stressed over a project with a half burnt cig hanging from his lips. He doesnât do it every day, maybe at most once a week. He tried to hide it from you until you made a comment on the way his lips tasted when he kissed you.
Zayne had a pretty bad energy drink addiction. Heâs long since quit and found a better work/life balance and ways to keep himself energized without the fizzy battery acid. It was mainly during his time in college and as a medical intern. But even now, at 27, he canât help but walk by the hospital vending machine and linger at the pretty line of colorful, slim 12oz cans of pure coke energy.
Sylus before you entered his life again, he had a habit of not sleeping for days. The longest stretch he ever went was four days without a single ounce of sleep. Surprisingly, it was the closest he had ever felt to death. Something he didnât think was possible, but oh man the twins nearly tied him to his bed and he slept for a whole day because of it. The habit hasnât fully disappeared, but heâs gotten better.
Caleb has you used recreational drugs before. Again, please have mercy on me for this one. But during his time at the DAA his classmates would get a little carried away and he decided heâd be a little reckless too and try it out. Smoking weed and popping an addy here and there â nothing crazy but he knew youâd have his head for it if you were to find out. Listen⊠heâs mentally exhausted as it is let the poor man smoke a little to relax T-T
Now that the new promise card came out and we all agree that Sylus is a stomach sleeper.
Id like to add, he only props himself up on a pillow like that if you arenât there with him, other wise heâd def sleep on top of you, arms curled underneath you, head squished to your chest KEKEKEKEKE
âSylussss youâre heavy get off..â
âYouâre strong kitten, youâll be fineâ he is GLUED to you.
Heâs heavy asf, weighs a fucking ton. Brick house. Makes you wonder if he eats cement. but you do get used to it, the weight of him more comforting now than anything else, his heartbeat strong against your stomach, it lulls you to sleep just how your breathing and heartbeat against his ear lulls him.
Heâs practically a weighted heated blanket, amazing during the winter months but absolutely awful during summer. You often wake up with his skin sticking to yours due to the layer of sweat accumulated overnight, but you canât bring yourself to push him away with how he sighs dreamily and nuzzles further into your chestâŠso you just opt to sleep with a thin sheet thrown over the two of you, AC BLASTING lol.
Oh and do run your fingers through his hair, scratch at his scalpâŠhum a little mayhaps??. Heâs purring like the cat he claims you to be. Heâs out like a LIGHT
Summary: You and Xavier are both spies that serve the crown. It was supposed to be a simple recon mission into the enemy kingdomâs territory. You planned for everythingâŠ.except for getting caught. Will you two be the same after everything is said and done?

As always with this stuffâŠ.MDNI (Minors Do Not Interact).
31 days. 31 days in captivity. It was supposed to be a regular recon mission. Get in, get the info, and get out. What you didnât account for is getting caught. Theyâve been grilling you, torturing you, to get information out of you, but youâve stood strong. It hasnât been easy, in fact, itâs been the hardest thing youâve ever done, but with Xavier by your side you could do anything. Did I forget to mention that your captors have magical powers? Well, they do.
Water boarding wasnât just your face shoved in a bucket of water, no, they literally put a bubble of water just big enough to encapsulate your head. This way you could see everything happening around you. You could see Xavier fighting his restraints to get to you. You could see their sadistic smiles as they watched you, almost, drown in the equivalent of a puddle of water. But they wouldnât be that merciful.
They would take turns brandishing you and him with red hot irons heated with the fire produced from their bare hands. Branding you with the kingdomâs crest, among other things. Reminding you of who you crossed.
They also had their fair share of regular punches and blows to the face and rest of the body. What was worse is that they made each of you watch the other one being tortured. Youâd be screaming at them to stop when there torturing xavier, but theyâd just look at you with that same sadistic smile and start to torture him even worse.
The worst of it was the psychological torture. They would get inside your head. Youâd be asleep, trapped inside your head trying to run away from the nightmares that they created. While awake they would extract precious memories from your mind and crush them. Taking them away and destroying them. Your first date with Xavier? Gone. First kiss with him? Gone. Those times you spent just messing around chasing each other around the castle for fun with him inevitably catching you? Gone.
Then there were the voices. Nobodyâs mouth in the room would be moving but their voices were all you could hear. The voices that preyed upon every vulnerability and insecurity you had. âYouâre not good enough,â they say âweak, spineless,â âdo you really think that your little partner here cares about you? That he cares about what happens to you?â
âHe does!â You shouted in agony. Xavier could see the pain on your face, but had no idea what was going on up there and thatâs what he hated the most. He could see you writhing in your chair, trying to get your hands free so you could cover your ears to at least try and drown them out. By the end of it you didnât even know who you were anymore.
The only thing saving you from complete destruction was the little bit of mental fortification training you had. It didnât protect everything but it did protect a small portion of important stuff in your long term memory. Xavier only had half the amount of training you did and you hoped that was enough to fight against them.
One agonizing day, Xavier thrashed about in his chair. You could tell that the voices were in his head, torturing him.
âAh! Shut up!â His broken voice shouted, eyes squeezed shut.
âXavier, baby, listen to me. Listen to my voice.â You said trying to give him something to latch on to.
âIâm trying, itâs too much!â He grunted.
âYou can do this! You can fight against them! I know youâre strong enough!â You encouraged him. Suddenly, he went limp in his chair.
âXavier!â You shouted. One of your captors walked over and put a finger to his temple. A bright light came out from it and they held it there for a moment before letting it go, both of you watching it dissipate into the air of the room.
When Xavier woke up, those blue sapphire eyes that were always trained on you, watching you with such intense need to have and protect, were blank. Another captor came over and whispered into his ear and suddenly, those eyes that looked at you with so much love and adoration, turned cold. He was released from the shackles on his chair and he stood up.
He started to walk over to you slowly, calculated. He arrived at your chair and leaned down, placing a hand on the chair behind you while his face is inches from yours. Inspecting, observing.
âDo I know you?â He asked suspiciously. The question made your stomach drop. Sure youâre battered and bruised but he should still recognize you.
âXavier, Itâs me,â You said. He still had that confused yet suspicious look on his face. âItâs me, your partner,â you frantically continued.
âThat doesnât sound familiar.â He said, standing up, eyes still burning into yours.
âXavier, please! It's me!â You shouted, âthe love of your life, your shining star!â tears started to stream down your face. âWhat did you do to him?â You shouted angrily to your captors.
âWe finally broke through his mental shield and removed each and every memory of you. Not only that, we replaced them with someone elseâs memories too. Now he thinks he belongs here.â They said with that same sadistic smile.
âWhat am I doing? Andââ he touched one of his branding that were still healing and winced, âwhat is this here?â
âXavier, baby, youâre here with me. We came from our kingdom together to get information, remember?â You said, still struggling against your restraints.
âI live here, in this kingdom. I donât know what youâre talking about.â He said still looking at you confused.
âTry all you want, but his memories of you and his life are gone.â Your captors chuckled at your feeble attempts at reorienting him. They take Xavier away and youâre left in the room alone. Sobbing, youâre thrown back into your cell.
A few more days of torture go by. Youâre trying to stay strong because thatâs what Xavier would want you to do, but you can feel yourself getting weaker and weaker. One day, you finally break.
âIf I give you what you want, will you bring my star back?â you rasped. Your captors smiled.
âAh, so you've finally come around,â the leader of them said, "what do you think? Should we bring him back?â He asked rhetorically, looking over to the other captors in the room.
âPlease, Iâll do anything!â You pleaded.
âAnything?â He smirked.
âAnything! Just bring him back!â You sobbed.
âTell me where your base is located? I know you have one in our kingdom.â
You steeled yourself and gave them the information they wanted. The guards brought Xavier back into the room and the binds on your chair were unlocked. Your legs were a little shaky but you were still able to run over to Xavier. You try to envelop him in a hug but he pushes you away.
âXavier, baby, itâs me.â You pleaded, trying to jog his memory again.
âYou keep saying that, but I donât know who you are.â He said a little frustrated this time.
âI gave you what you wanted, now bring his memories back!â You demanded
âOh honey, thatâs not how that works. They're gone. I canât bring them back even if I tried.â The main man chuckled. You could feel all the blood rush out of your face. .
âYou son of aâŠâ you trail off not finishing that sentence, you ran over to them but the guards stopped you before you could get any closer. âyou said you would give him his memories back!â You shouted angrily struggling in their grasp.
âI said I would bring him back. I never said anything about his memories.â The leader said. You collapsed onto the ground sobbing. Theyâd won, and you fell for their trick.
Sylus knelt in front of his daughterâs small chair, combing her hair carefully. Once it was smooth, he gathered it into two high pigtails.
âHold still, okay?â he said gently.
She giggled, clutching her little dragon plushie. âDaddy⊠you made horns on me!â she exclaimed, tilting her head to admire the pigtails sticking up like little dragon horns.
Sylus smiled, brushing a strand from her cheek. âHorns, huh? Just like a little dragon.â
She bounced in her seat, eyes sparkling. âLook! Theyâre just like my dragonâs horns!â She held the plushie up beside her head for comparison.
Sylusâs chest tightened. He remembered his own childhood, the fear he had felt whenever his horns grew, and how he had chopped them off to hide what he was. Back then, being different had been dangerous. But now he could see beauty where he once saw tragedy.
âYou know,â he said softly, leaning down to hug her, âyour horns are perfect. Theyâre brave, just like you.â
She hugged him back, giggling into his chest. âI love my horns! My horns are brave, just like Daddy!â
Sylus rested his chin on her head, warmth spreading through him. She had no idea how much her small acceptance meant. She was just a little girl with high pigtails and a dragon plushie, smiling at him like he was the whole world. In that smile he felt it clearly. She had embraced the horns and in doing so, she had embraced him.
For the first time in a long time, Sylus smiled freely.

Your social battery is 0% near the end of your family's big gathering. During times like that, you'd find it hard to even smile. In the past when you were younger, your mother would scold you because of your rbf. Now, you were just so grateful to have Sylus by your side. He was a natural charmer around your relativesâhis gorgeous smile and the way he carries conversationâthat people no longer focus on you.
"Let's go home, shall we?" He whispered to your ear. You could count on him on leaving too soon. You didnt have to feel bad and tried hard to find an excuse to leave. Sylus knew just what to say to your parents.
For a long time you believed you are a loner, until he came around. You used to lock yourself in your room after a draining social event. Now you were no longer aloneâand somehow, your nervous system didn't try to alarm you to run away. Maybe it was his voice. Or his gentle touches. Or his understanding nature that allows you to feel safe and sound when you have no energy to speak. Sylus never forced you to speak and listen to him. You could stay silent for hours and zone out, he would be fine with thatâfor as long as you are comfortable in his space. He'd usually fill it with gentle classical music. You either fell asleep before you know it, or start to crave some physical contact from him after you no longer overwhelmed by many social interaction during the day.
There was one endearing habit you developed. It was the way you cling to him when you crave physical contact. You'd be too bashful to fully cling to him. Instead, you went for a minimal contact like slowly scoot closer to his side or holding his hand while quietly wishing he will be the one who make the first move. Weren't you such a kitten? It was why he calls you kitten.
You had to convince yourself he can't read your mind because he is so good at reading you. Your quiet wish always came trueâwhether you need his touch, or need some space. Was that your gesture? Your expression? But your sibling once told you how difficult for them to know if you are upset or happy. Maybe, after all, he could read your mind...
"Could you?"
His low chuckle rumbling against your cheek when you nestle in his arms. He traced your back up and down, making you drowsy. But you were curious. So you needed to ask it.
"Yes, I can read your mind."
You shot a flustered glare. "Really?!"
He laughed even more. You didn't realize, but you are much more expressive when you are with him. That was why he can read you easily. "I'm joking, sweetie. I can't."
"... Really?"
"Really."
"So why you always know what I want even when I didn't say it?"
"Hmm." He leaned down, tickling your face with his warm breath. "Ever thought that maybe I'm just a really good boyfriend?"
He grinned when you roll your eyes, yet your cheeks gain a little more color than before. He just couldnt hold himself to pepper kisses here and there. []

The aroma of burnt toast hung heavy in the air, a testament to Thomasâs increasingly frazzled state.
âMr. Rafayel, please! Your exhibit is this evening, and youâve barely slept two hours. And you need to eat something!â Thomas pleaded, holding out a plate of what looked suspiciously like a deconstructed omelet.
Rafayel, sprawled elegantly across a chaise lounge, a sketchpad balanced precariously on his chest, merely waved a dismissive hand.
âNonsense, Thomas. Iâm on the verge of a breakthrough, a new wave of inspiration is⊠ahem⊠brewing.â
He shot Thomas a look that dared him to question the veracity of his artistic genius, though the faint dark circles under his eyes betrayed his exhaustion.
The truth, Thomas knew, was that Rafayel would rather face a dozen deepspace monsters than endure another art exhibit.
Just then, the door creaked open, and you walked in, looking utterly spent.
Your hunter gear was still on, slightly askew, and your usually vibrant aura was replaced by a visible cloud of annoyance. The scent of ozone clung to you, a tell-tale sign of a particularly rough mission. You tossed your comms device onto a nearby table with a thud that echoed in the quiet room.
"Breakthrough, my ass," you muttered, your voice rough with fatigue. Your eyes, usually warm, narrowed dangerously as they landed on Rafayel and the untouched breakfast. A growl rumbled in your stomach, loud enough to draw Thomasâs wide-eyed attention.
Rafayel, sensing the shift in the atmospheric pressure, sat up a little straighter. "Cutie, what a pleasant surprise! Come, sit. I was just explaining to Thomas the delicate nature of artistic creationââ
âOh, Iâm going to show you the delicate nature of a hungry hunter,â you interrupted, stalking towards him. Thomas visibly gulped, inching backwards towards the safety of the hallway. You snatched the plate from his trembling hand.
âEat. Now.â
Rafayelâs usual defiance flickered.
He opened his mouth, no doubt to retort with some witty, self-aggrandizing quip, but then he saw the unholy glint in your eyes. The very air around you seemed to crackle with an unspoken threat.
âAnd after that,â you continued, pointing a stern finger at him, âyouâre going to sleep. At least six hours. Then, and only then, will you even think about that exhibit. Or,â you leaned in, your voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl, âI swear to the Deepspace Council, Rafayel, I will use your fine, arrogant ass as wanderer bait.â
A gasp escaped Thomasâs lips. Heâd never, in all his years of managing the notoriously unmanageable Rafayel, seen him look so⊠chastened. Rafayelâs mouth was agape, his bluish-pink eyes wide with a mixture of shock, amusement and, dare he say it, genuine fear.
âW-wanderer bait? You wouldnât dare!â he spluttered, though his voice lacked its usual conviction.
You crossed your arms, an eyebrow arched.
âTry me. Iâm tired, Iâm covered in god-knows-what, and I havenât eaten since yesterday. So unless you want to find out what a hangry hunter is truly capable of, youâll do exactly as I say.â
Rafayel swallowed hard, his gaze flickering from your furious face to the untouched food.
A long moment of tense silence stretched between you, the only sound the frantic thumping of Thomasâs heart. Then, to Thomasâs utter astonishment, Rafayel let out a long, put-upon sigh.
âFine,â he grumbled, though a faint blush was creeping up his neck. âBut only if you join me. You look like youâre about to collapse. And,â he added, a mischievous glint returning to his eyes, âyouâre coming to the exhibit with me tonight. As my date.â
You stared at him for a moment, the fury in your eyes slowly softening into a weary amusement.
âDeal,â you said, reaching down to pull him up. âNow eat.â
Rafayel eyed the plate suspiciously, picking up a fork.
âTo think, the great Sea God, humbled by a mere mortalâs grumbling stomach,â he muttered, but as he took a bite, a soft, almost imperceptible smile touched his lips.
He glanced at you, watching as you finally started to unwind, leaning against him slightly. The tension in his shoulders eased.
He was still grumbling, but deep down, a warm, fuzzy feeling began to spread through him. It was a strange sensation, this feeling of being taken care of, of having someone fierce enough to tame even the most stubborn of gods.
Thomas, peeking in from the hallway, could only shake his head in disbelief. It seemed the sass had finally met its match. Yet, still reeling from the unprecedented display of Rafayelâs submission, he practically fled the room, leaving the door ajar in his haste.
The moment he was gone, Rafayelâs carefully constructed façade of indignation crumbled, replaced by a slow, knowing smirk. He pushed the plate of half-eaten breakfast aside, his eyes, now free of fear, locking onto yours with an intensity that sent a shiver down your spine.
âNow that Thomas is gone,â he purred, his voice dropping to a low, husky whisper that was pure velvet, âwe can discuss more⊠efficient ways to ensure I get my rest.â
He reached out, his fingers tracing the line of your jaw, sending a jolt of heat through you. âYou look just as exhausted as I feel, Miss Bodyguard. And I know a method that guarantees deep, satisfying sleep for both of us.â
His thumb brushed over your lower lip, a suggestive caress that made your breath hitch.
You rolled your eyes, a dramatic sigh escaping your lips, a perfect imitation of his earlier exasperation.
âOh, Rafayel,â you mimicked, your voice laced with a mock weariness that barely hid the sudden quickening of your pulse.
You knew exactly what he was implying, and despite your fatigue, a fierce, undeniable longing ignited within you. The sexual tension that had been simmering between you two for what felt like an eternity was now threatening to boil over.
He chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that vibrated through your chest as he pulled you closer, his other hand finding the small of your back.
âDonât pretend youâre not intrigued, darling. After a day of battling wanderers and a morning of battling me,â he paused, his gaze dropping to your mouth, âyou deserve a reward. And I, my dear, am an expert in⊠relaxation techniques.â
His eyes held a playful challenge, a promise of something deliciously forbidden.
You leaned into his touch, your own hand finding its way to the back of his neck, your fingers tangling in the soft strands of his purple hair.
âYouâre insufferable,â you whispered, though the words were devoid of any real heat. Your body was already betraying you, molding itself against his, the warmth of his skin seeping into yours. The exhaustion that had plagued you moments ago was still there, but now it was a pleasant ache, a prelude to something far more profound.
âPerhaps,â he murmured, his lips brushing against yours, a feather-light touch that promised more.
âBut you wouldnât have me any other way, would you?â His voice was laced with a sweet arrogance, a knowing confidence that only he possessed.
âBesides,â he added, his eyes darkening with a potent mix of desire and tenderness, âI believe you said something about using my âfine ass as wanderer bait.â Iâd much prefer it be used for⊠other purposes.â
A soft gasp escaped you as his lips finally claimed yours, a kiss that was both gentle and demanding, full of the unspoken longing that had been building between you.
It was a kiss that promised comfort, passion, and the kind of deep, soul-stirring connection that only you and Rafayel shared.
The world outside, with its demanding exhibits and dangerous wanderers, faded into oblivion.
All that mattered was the feel of his lips on yours, the scent of his skin, and the intoxicating promise of a very efficient, and very intimate, way to fall asleep.
Probably after a nice bath, or maybe with him in the showers with you.
i had to. my heart broke while i listened to the one when rafayel lost his sight temporarily. huhu.

How is it possible that even as your sworn protector, Caleb seems to always find himself distracted by you?
Youâre currently sitting on the edge of your bed, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow on your figure as you go on and on about your day. Caleb is sitting right across from you, peeling an apple. Perhaps you were slightly spoiled, for you would always have him peel and cut up your fruit.
He regarded you with a soft expression, a sigh escaping his lips as he shook his head. A knowing smile was plastered on his lipsâyou had spotted him on his break and promptly drawn him away from his duties, all to sit while he cut up your fruit. He couldn't even say no to you, not when you'd look at him with those sparkly eyes of yours. You knew your father would give him an earful if he found out Caleb was slacking off, but well, would it be slacking off if he was right by your side?
âI have a job to do, you know?â he mused as he started cutting up the apple. You stopped mid-sentence to pout at him.
âIsn't it your job to protect me? And, aren't you protecting me by staying close?â He can see the sparkles around your head as you speak, like you just stated the obvious. Caleb hums as he waves an apple slice around.
âWhy, of courseâif an intruder comes in, I'll throw these apple slices at him.â He speaks while grinning. You quickly lean forward to reach out and steal the slice away from him before popping it into your mouth.
âSounds like a waste of a perfectly good apple slice!â you exclaim, gulping it down. Caleb only sighs againâhe can't win against you, the proof being his very presence here. âYou can just use your sword; you shouldn't waste food, Caleb.â
He laughs at your remark, passing you another apple slice as he cuts them. âOr I can just go back to doing my job, so I won't have to throw apple slices at anyone.â He, after all, didn't enjoy the thought of unsheathing his blade in front of you. However, his words only earned a frown from you, which promptly got his hands up in the air and in defeat before you could even speak.
âI'm not done talking about my day and what I wish to do⊠I'll cry if you leave. Do you want to see me cry?â You put on your best about-to-cry face, as you purse your lips in a pout. Caleb almost wants to curse you for having him wrapped around your finger.
âOf course not. Don't be so mean to your CalebâI may be the fiercest knight, but I can't handle my princess crying,â he muses softly, leaning back after passing you another speck. âGo on, my attentionâs all yours, pips.â
