Is it just me or do women seem more opposed to allowing women to go topless than men?
Just an anecdotal observation and I’m curious what everyone else thinks.
I think it kind of depends on the situation. I’ve heard a lot of people say stuff like ‘It’s not whether women should or shouldn’t be topless, it’s whether they consent to it!’, which I guess pretty much means if a girl wants to be topless, that’s a-ok, but if a man draws a topless woman/distributes the image, then it’s not.
But at the same time, it seems like a pretty shallow defense, as they also prattle on about ‘hyper sexualization’ and will often shame women who do go topless, or even accuse them of ‘internalize misogyny’, which kind of undermines their own argument. And on the other side of the coin, I’ve seen women sexualize male figureheads and celebrities way more than I’ve seen men do the same to female ones (I was raised in a house with two women, for the record).
But yeah, in short, there’s just no pleasing people.

You’re either in favour of supporting everyone or not. Unless you’re saying this stuff for the specific purpose of showing white people up. In which case, using the deaths of 100+ people for your own political agenda is kind of a shitty thing to do.
The thing about “pray for Paris” and “all lives matter” is that they’re petty retribution. So you have these people pointing out probles across the world, then come conservatives placing priority on France alone, often to justfy racism. Then you have people highlitghing racism, and come assholes that dishonestly try to prevent problem solving by whining that “everyone has it rough, such it”.
You are literally defending hypocritical childish tantrums.

First off, if you don’t like being called out, you really shouldn’t be posting on a public forum. And what makes you so sure that everyone that opposes you is a ‘meninist asshole’? Sounds like a generalization to me.
I live in an area where pretty much everyone has a story of being mugged/robbed/harassed by a Romanian person. Does this same principle apply to Romanians?
No one likes being called out but yeah it is a consequence of voicing your opinion, I admit that.
What makes me so sure? The fact that I’ve been consistently called “feminazi”, “paranoid”, “retard”, etc. for expressing my beliefs.
Does this same principle apply to Romanians? No. Firstly because women being harassed by men is a documented phenomena and an issue worldwide. Secondly because the reason that the people near you have had bad experiences with Romanian people is likely because in your area Romanians are typically less economically privileged and live in poorer conditions where criminal activity is common. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)
The point is, there’s a pretty good comparison to be drawn in both cases. Are Romanians naturally prone to violence because of the way they were born? No. Are men? No. Can an entire group be held responsible for the actions of some of them? No.
But it’s important to recognize that society teaches certain groups of people that certain behavior which is not okay is okay. So it’s up to members of that group (in this case, men) and those outside of it to be accountable for destroying the mindset that teaches men it’s okay to harass women and protecting women from being victims of harassment.
I don’t see how that’s relevant to them allegedly being meninists. If anything, it makes you a hypocrite as you do not like being amused of things you’re not, and then go ahead and accuse others of being things they might not be. Either way, I’ve been called ‘racist’, ‘sexist’, ‘fragile man’, etc. myself for expressing my own beliefs. People just get hostile when faced with conflicting opinions.
And whilst I could agree that women have it pretty bad in third world countries, I find it hard to believe the same could be said about the first world. Sure, they may face some shit either directly or indirectly because of their sex, but so do men. Everyone has there problems. To be honest, I don’t know what the living conditions are for Romanians around here are, but I’m ready to accept they may have it worse. But on the topic, boys (particularly, white boys) are actually doing worse in school than any other group (x). Sure, this report is based in Britain, so I don’t know what it’s like in the rest of the world; but the Romanian situation we were referring to takes place in Britain as well.
Whilst I agree that there are people out there teaching stuff like misogyny, and that they should be stopped, I find the idea that society as a whole condones this to be quite a ludicrous accusation. There are areas where women have it worse, sure, but there are also areas where men have it worse. Everyone has there struggles. Claiming that one group has it great whilst another doesn’t isn’t going to help anyone, and, if anything, will just further divide people.

First off, ‘appears’ is a weasel word, and you have provided no citations.
Secondly, assuming this is true, it’s pretty unfair to hold all men to these standards. After all, black people are five times more likely to commit a violent crime than white people (x), but I imagine you’d say it was racist to judge all black people just because of this (which I agree with, but I digress).
Now, you could argue that this is because of social and economic factors outside of of race. Well, consider this; boys (specifically, white boys) are reportedly doing worse in schools than any other group (x). Now, this is simply a report based in Britain, so I can’t say if the same goes for countries like America, though they are pretty similar culturally. Feel free to correct me if I;m wrong, though.

The girl in question is discussing politics and political ideology, though. The ability to discuss politics doesn’t necessarily mean someone is smart, though, and I’m sure you’re well aware of that fact.
Besides, even if she was ‘smart’, the boy still has the right to disagree with the girl, much like the girl has the right to disagree with the boy. if there political views contrast too much, then naturally, they aren’t going to be drawn to one another. This isn’t a one way street.
Either way, it sounds like the person who wrote this is just upset a boy she liked didn’t want to get with her.

Firstly, these are two completely different scenarios in two different environments with different people involved.
Secondly, the girl was arrested and will presumably be convicted; she’s not privileged just because one online paper called her adorable. And the story with the black kids is quite clearly painting the alleged racism against them in a negative light; if the racism was being condoned, they probably wouldn’t feel the need to write the article in the first place.
