The Ancient African origins of the word “Witch”
By Queen Mother Imakhu
Uploaded from Google Docs
“Witches and witch doctors were once highly revered. Now they are considered community threats. Until the recent turn of the tide, if a child exhibited special gifts he/she was given to the tribal shaman for training to step into their honorable destiny as healer. Christian colonialism has reinforced that the only true witch doctor is Jesus. This all smacks of Salem, the Crusades...
It is time for people of African descent to reclaim and understand our historical link to the witches. The terms "witch" and "wise woman" actually had their origins in ancient Kemet (Egypt's true name, meaning Land of the Blacks). Wadj (or Uadj) is a Kemetic word meaning"power, health, green, water." A wadj scepter represents a tied bundle of herbs for health andprosperity. A variant of the word is Udja (pronounced WOO-jah), where the term Ouija board isalso derived from. The Mdw Ntr (hieroglyphic symbol) is believed by many to actually represent a mortar and pestle. Another variant is Ujdat (WOO-chaht), the name for theprotective amulet representing the Eye of Heru, which is comprised of the protective psychic/magickal energies of Wadjet and her sister Nekehebet (who are actually Ast/Isis and her sister Neb-t Het). Wadjet (Uadjet, Uachet) is a term for a strong magickal woman who can suddenly bend energy for healing.
Much of the Yoruba language and traditions can be traced directly to Kemet. Aje (ah-JZAY) is a Yoruba term meaning witch. The Aje is an energy like Wadjet. The Aje are symbolized asbirds, who lovingly, fiercely protect their witch queen Oshun. Anyone who offends Oshun must answer to the Aje, or witches. A little known Yoruba prophecy says that balance will not be resrored on the planet until the Aje have risen to their rightful places once more. Anglo-Saxons claim the word witch came from wicca. However, an early, older variant of the word in their language was wicce, pronounced "weecha." Wicce meant a wise woman/wiseman healer.
Wadjet. Weecha. Witch.
Also for the record, the Kemetic term for wise woman, "Rekhut, Rekhuit, Rekhit, Rekhat,"means "skilled in words, knowledge, and craft." The Rekhut was believed to have mastery of and work with the Uadjenergy. Rekhut was also a name for Ast (Isis), recognized and honored today as a witch because she represents the ultimate female magickal healer.
With this rich history and prophecy of hope based on the strength of witches, it is sorrowful that people have fearfully turned against the power source that will heal humanity. Stand strong in our proud tradition.
We are the witches. We have returned.
The key to growing in one's magic, ancestral connection, and spiritual gifts is exploration of the subconscious and intuition. Just as visible light is only a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum, our immediate thoughts and measurable reality only scratch the surface of what's out there.
It's important to read and research, yes, but it's just as important to truly comprehend and synthesize what you're taking in. It's like if I were to write a post on how to talk to plant spirits. You can read what I'm writing and your brain can decipher my words, but unless your spirit is also involved, you may have difficulty communing with the plants because of self-imposed limits on what is possible.
Your spirit may talk in whispers, in hints of words because at a young age, you were taught to disregard that other sense. Practices such as ancestor veneration, mindfulness, shadow work, and meditation tease open that door that has been long covered with cobwebs. Also, going outside and immersing yourself in nature because we are nature. It's all about remembering who you are before society told you who to be
Happy Almost Full Moon! 🌙 🌝
On 11/30/20, there will be a full moon in Gemini at 1:29 AM PST. At exactly 1:44 AM PST, there will be a partial lunar eclipse. What does this mean for those of us who observe and incorporate the lunar cycle into our magick? Usually, the full moon is a time of celebration and signals the completion of a cycle (for example, the completion of what we manifested during the new moon).
With a lunar eclipse, we may notice some previously hidden factors coming to the surface. This means that we should be ready for change! You may not have reached your new moon goals yet, or maybe you have and are now noticing some shifts that you’d like to make. A lunar eclipse is the perfect time to make adjustments and search for hidden truths. We can also work on changing negative or unwanted patterns at this time. If you feel called to do so, please feel free to use this tarot spread to help you uncover what kinds of shifts are needed to help you achieve your goals!

DIY: the CURSE A BITCH edition
So yeah, follow up to this post.
You’ll need: • polymer clay • nails • paints and brushes • a jar • a taglock • salt • black pepper • tabasco • vinegar (the clear kind you use for cleaning) • dirt • gutter water • candles
First I salted all my windowsills and my doorstep with salt to make protect my house. To make sure the bitch wouldn’t be able to counteract, I created a home guardian who acts as a “bouncer” of sort.
Then I made a small poppet out of clay. I tried to make it look as much like the bitch as I could at that scale. Then I drove nails into her, telling her each time why she was being stabbed. “This one is for when you made fun of coworker S”, “this one is for when you bullied coworker B”, “this one is for when you took pictures of me”, etc… I finished by driving a nail in her mouth “that’s to teach you to stop spreading gossips and lies”
I made her look anguished and in pain because that’s why I want for her. Then I baked the poppet, leaving the nails in. I roughly painted it afterward.
Once it was dried, I glued her inside the jar. My taglock this time was a note she wrote me. Her name was even on it, so that was good. I put it inside the jar and lit it up. Watching the flames lick her frame was cathartic.
Once it was done burning, I covered the ashes with salt to ward off her influence and irritate her. Then I ground some black pepper and poured it along some tabasco on her, to burn her. Then I went outside and scraped some dust and hair and dead bugs from the ground and poured it on her, so her reputation gets as dirty as she tried to make mine.
Ew, gross.
I added nails to the mixture so that every time I shake the jar, she’s hit by the weight of what she’s done.
Then I filled it to two third with vinegar. At first I wanted to use the cooking kind, but in the end, the cleaning kind made more sense. I mean, she’s a huge disgusting stain on the surface of earth, so… I topped it off with some gutter water because that’s where she belong, and spat in it three times, thinking about all the crap she had done to me and the others.
Once I was done, I just sealed it with wax and placed it in a dark place where it never sees the light of day.
I poured some salt and pepper on top of it, hence the grains. The color is a lot grosser irl, haha.
Anyway, there you go: how to curse a bitch.
you have to follow up with the shitstorm that hits her later please
Lots of shit happening already. She’s making mistakes. My coworkers were all scared of her before but now people are starting to taaaaaalk~
yasss witch power baby
Since you wanted the follow up: everything is slowly spiraling into chaos and it’s hilarious as fuck.
At first it was just me telling my bosses about how she’s been treating me (can’t just count on magic to solve my shit!) but little by little, the rest of the team joined in. Especially since she keeps slipping up and treating our coworkers like shit.
Weirdly enough people don’t like being talked to like they’re stupid or bossed around! Who would have guessed???? :)))))))
Her BFF/righthand girl bragged about monitoring our lunch break (despite having denied it before) to a coworker… And right after that she fucked that coworker over by not letting her get her afternoon break. Guess who went to the bosses and told on her?
Also something happened yesterday. It wasn’t my shift so I don’t know what exactly but my manager told me it’s safer if I don’t know and that it would prove to our bosses without a single doubt that they were both the ones causing trouble in the team.
You could say it’s a “two bitches one stone” situation, and I’m just in the midst of it like:
This post has been making rounds again, so I figured I’d tell the end of the story! :D
So I went into sick leave for a while. When I came back… Toxic Coworker had been promoted. Not the post she wanted, she’s not our team manager, but still. It was a bummer. I thought my curse had failed and… considering my shaky belief in my own magic, that wasn’t a good feeling.
That would be a pretty disheartening story if it ended there but it doesn’t so don’t worry :D
The days went by. But then, I started noticing little things. For example:
Because of her promotion, she has to run errands around and therefore is pretty much never around my workspace and I don’t have to endure her presence anymore.
She’s in charge of customer service so clients call her all day long to scream at her. How does your own medicine taste, I wonder? <3
No one in the team will hang out with her anymore, or even acknowledge her existence. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but compared to pre-curse time when people kept forgiving her despite being treated like shit, the contrast is striking.
Our managers are all pretty mad at her because she keeps ordering them around so she gets called out every time she crosses the line. It’s pretty hilarious.
Her time schedule is shit. She complained before that our team’s schedule (tuesday to saturday, 9am to 6pm) was preventing her from spending time with her husband. Now she works every week-ends and from 2pm to 9pm. So absolutely no time with him. Also she has to be available at all time so our bosses can call on her if they need her there. So that means no way to plan anything at all. Welcome to Service Industry Hell, love.
I can’t begin to tell you how hard it is not to cackle when I hear her complain. It’s not what I expected but it’s deliciously ironic that the promotion she worked so hard for was her downfall. In retrospect, it makes a lot of sense that my magic would work that way, it suits my sense of humor to a T.
So yeah, that’s how you curse a bitch, kids.
There are not words for how happy I am to finally have the whole story for this!
how have i never seen this before
What a beautiful read 😌☺️🖤
Hot Food Powder
It is said that Hot Foot Powder, a staple in the religion of Hoodoo, originates from the need of the enslaved running away to cover their scent so that the hunting dogs couldn't trace them.
THIS IS WHY HOODOO IS STRICTLY BLACK AMERICAN!!! I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE MODERN WAYS THAT HOT FOOT POWDER CAN BE USED, THE SPIRITS OF THE ENSLAVED ARE OUR ANCESTORS. THEIR PAIN, THEIR INGENUITY, AND WILLINGNESS TO SURVIVE SIT WITH US, BLACK AMERICANS! HAVE YOUR ANCESTORS EVER RAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, HAVING TO SPRINKLE CAYENNE PEPPER SO HUNTING DOGS WOULD’T CATCH THEM AND MAUL THEM ALIVE? ALL BECAUSE THEY SOUGHT FREEDOM? THIS ISN’T SOUTHERN CULTURE, IT IS BLACK AMERICAN ANCESTRY, RELIGION AND CULTURE…PERIOD! GO DEBATE YOUR REFLECTION!
The Himba (singular: OmuHimba, plural: OvaHimba) are indigenous peoples with an estimated population of about 50,000 people living in northern Namibia, in the Kunene Region (formerly Kaokoland) and on the other side of the Kunene River in Angola. The OvaHimba are a semi-nomadic, pastoralist people, culturally distinguishable from the Herero people in northern Namibia and southern Angola, and speak OtjiHimba, a variety of Herero, which belongs to the Bantu family within Niger–Congo. The OvaHimba are considered the last (semi-) nomadic people of Namibia.
The Himba often cover themselves with otjize paste, a cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment, to cleanse the skin over long periods due to water scarcity and protect themselves from the extremely hot and dry climate of the Kaokoland as well as against mosquito insect bites. The cosmetic mixture, often perfumed with the aromatic resin of the omuzumba shrub, gives their skin and hair plaits a distinctive orange or red-tinge characteristic, as well as texture and style. Otjize is considered foremost a highly desirable aesthetic beauty cosmetic, symbolizing earth’s rich red color and blood the essence of life, and is consistent with the OvaHimba ideal of beauty. The OvaHimba are also accustomed to use wood ash for hair cleansing due to water scarcity.
Hairstyle and jewelry play a significant role among the OvaHimba, it indicates age and social status within their community. An infant or child will generally have his head kept shaven of hair or a small crop of hair on his head crown. This soon is sculptured to one braided hair plait extended to the rear of the head for young boys and young girls have two braided hair plaits extended forward towards the face often parallel to their eyes. This style is called ozondato, the form of wear being determined by the oruzo membership (patrilineal descent group). The style remains during preadolescence until reaching puberty. Some young girls, with exception, may also have one braided hair plait extended forwards, which means they are one of a pair of twins.

From pubescence, boys continue to have one braided hair plait.

Once they reach puberty, OvaHimba girls will have many otjize textured hair plaits, some arranged to veil the girl’s face.
This girl is going through puberty, a fact made plain by her hairstyle, which has been designed to cover her face and help her avoid male attention. The puffs at the bottom are either goat hair or synthetic.
(In daily practice, the hair plaits are often tied together and held parted back from the face.)
This girl’s braids are arranged to reveal her face, indicating that she’s ready to be married.
Women who have been married for about a year, or have had a child, wear an ornate headpiece called the Erembe, sculptured from sheepskin, with many streams of braided hair, coloured and put in shape with otjize paste.
Married women wearing erembe
Unmarried young men continue to wear one braided hair plait extended to the rear of the head. When Himba men marry, they start wearing turbans, which they never take off unless someone in the village dies. After a death, their heads are shaved. Because the turbans are never removed, things can get a little itchy underneath, so men carry pointed arrow-like instruments to scratch it with.
Married OvaHimba men. #s 1 and 3 wear a scratching implement in their turbans.
Widowed men will remove their cap or head-wrap and expose un-braided hair.

Wow this is the first time I’ve seen a culture where men are required to wear a headdress after marriage.
every single person in this post is absolutely stunning
Nnedi Okorafor’s novella trilogy Binti has a Himba main character. Otijze is even a plot point.

🧿 I am always guided and protected by the universe. Success is my natural state of being. 🧿
The Third Eye Chakra transcends time. It is located in the brain, at the brow, above the base of the nose.
The gift of this chakra is seeing - both inner and outer worlds.
The energy of this chakra allows us to experience clear thought as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation and self reflection.
Through the gift of seeing we can internalize the outer world and with symbolic language we can externalize the inner world.
The energy of Ajna allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of our being. It allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths - to see beyond the mind, beyond the words.
The “way of the third eye” is seeing everything as it is from a point of “witness” or “observer”, or from simply being mindful - moment by moment.
It means examining self-limiting ideas and developing wisdom that comes from a perspective that transcends the duality of good or bad, black or white. It means seeing and helping others to see the deeper meanings of the situations in their lives.
Sixth chakra is holistic in nature. When this chakra is fully activated, both hemispheres of the brain function in synchrony. The right hemisphere’s creativity and synthetic thinking is integrated and balanced with left hemisphere’s logical and analytical thinking.
The Third Eye is not only the seat of wisdom, but also a seat of conscience. This is where you not only see what is going on, but you also know what it means. This is where your sense of justice and your ethics originate.
When your third eye is open, you not only see but you also understand.

Third Eye Chakra Stones and Their Meanings
There are several healing stones with different properties that you can work with. Here is a brief listing of some crystals commonly used to heal and open the Third Eye Chakra. (Remember all healing stones have their own vibrational energy frequency, so find the stone that best suits the frequency of the Third Eye.) Listed is the name, color, type of stone, and crystal meaning/purpose of each:
Amethyst — Purple (varying shades from light to dark) — Precious — Used to open, stimulate, and balance. Amethyst is a healing stone that offers wisdom, healing, and protection from harm.
Moldavite — Dark green — Semi-precious — Used to cleanse, stimulate, and balance. Not only can Moldavite clear negativity it can restore balance to the entire chakra system. It is good for promoting a new perspective and enhancing dreams and dream recall.

Black Obsidian — Black — Semi-precious — Used to stimulate and balance. Obsidian is good for expelling negativity and chakra blockages while helping enhance emotional control.
Ajna
Popularly known as the third eye, Ajna is located in the center of the head or brow, and is usually represented in colour indigo. It’s the seat of wisdom and insight. It helps to keep things in perspective.
Feed it with: Dark bluish fruits like blue berries, black berries, raspberries help to keep the chakra centred. Wine and grape juice, along with spices like poppy seeds are considered perfect for the chakra.
Signs Of An Overactive Third Eye Chakra
A common sign of hyperactivity in the third eye chakra is overindulging in a fantasy world while losing touch with reality. Another symptomatic manifestation is being overly concerned or fearful about the phantasmagorical visions passing before your mind’s eye. These are common symptoms when the third eye is opening without having enough overall balance and support from the lower chakras.
When the Third Eye is balanced you see everything clearly. You function and make decisions with a sense of neutrality; meaning you are concerned, but not attached, to any single outcome. Highly focused, you can make the distinction between reality and dreams (or imagination).
When the third eye is in overdrive, so to speak, the constant flow of thoughts can be mentally exhausting. You may feel intimidated by having to make decisions that would normally be quite simple. That indecisiveness is oftentimes influenced by clouded judgement, lack of focus, and an inability to distinguish what is real — all signs your sixth chakra needs to be balanced.
Physical manifestations of an overactive third eye chakra include:
headaches
vision problems
seizures
insomnia
nausea
sinus issues
Additional non-physical signs of an overactive third eye chakra include:
hallucinations
being judgmental
anxiety
mental fog
feeling overwhelmed
paranoia and/or delusions
Awakening the third eye
Just Breathe
Mindful breathing can calm the mind and, in turn, cleanse and open the Third Eye. Being conscious of your breathing not only allows for cleansing, but also balances the chakra system.
Add Third Eye Color
Associated with the color indigo, which is a combination of deepest blue and violet, the Third Eye chakra governs… Introduce blue and purple hues to your home and office decor. Surrounding yourself with subtle indigo tones can help heal the sixth chakra and boost energy flow. Add precious or semi-precious blue- and/or purple-stone jewelry to your wardrobe.
Practice third eye meditation
Of all the exercises you can do for the sixth chakra, those that require you to actually engage the Third Eye are the best.
Visualizing and meditating on the color blue or purple can help activate the sixth chakra. For instance, sit comfortably and with eyes closed, visualize a blue (or purple) ball of energy in the area of your Third Eye. Simply concentrating on and holding that image is enough to activate the sixth chakra. Concentrating on this image can not only open up the energy center, but it helps dispel imbalance and heal the chakra.
Dream it
The Third Eye is crucial in dreaming and dream recall. Engage and activate your Third Eye chakra by keeping a dream journal.
Work your theta brainwaves
It could be useful to learn how to activate and maintain theta and alpha brainwaves. These foster frontal lobe activity and prepare your third eye and brain to be more receptive.
Add some scent
Introduce essential oils to your home, bath, and body. Subtle fragrances can work wonders for opening, cleansing, and balancing the body’s chakras. To help heal and activate your sixth chakra, consider trying one or a combination of these essential oils:
Sandalwood
Myrrh
Roman or German Chamomile
Grapefruit
Nutmeg
Eat (and Drink) Fruits and Veggies
Consuming beverages and foods with natural blue and purple hues can help bolster positive energy flow through the Third Eye chakra. Drink dark fruit juices, such as grape and blackberry. Consider adding the following fruits and vegetables to your grocery list:
black currants
blueberries
blackberries
eggplant
prunes
rainbow chard
beets
Yoga for the third eye chakra
To open and strengthen the Ajna chakra, give these yoga poses a try:
Hero (Virasana)
Standing Half Forward Bend (Ardha Uttanasana)
Child’s Pose (Balasana)
Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
Supported Shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana)
How to tell your chakras are balanced 🕉☯️💟☮️
The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and it is at the top of the “chakra ladder” which starts from the root chakra that grounds us on the Earth and progresses upward to the Sahasrara which connects us with the universe and the Divine source of creation.
Sahasrara is located at the crown of the head. The gift of this chakra is experiencing unity and the selfless realization that everything is connected at a fundamental level.
The energy of this chakra allows us to experience mystical oneness with everyone and everything in nature.
There is no intellectual knowing at the level of seventh chakra, but there is serenity, joy, and deep peace about life.
You have a sense of knowing that there is a deeper meaning of life and that there is an order that underlies all of existence.
The “way of the crown chakra” is the way of going beyond the limits of your own ego. It is the way of transcending the ego and knowing that all of creation is interconnected at a fundamental level.
A level that some call the “Akasha” or “Zero Point Field”, or just “the Field”. This is the fundamental level of connection.
According to Tantric philosophy, the seventh chakra is both a receiver and giver of energy and consciousness. It receives energy to sustain life and it gives back the personal energy to unite with the collective pool of consciousness.
It is the meeting point between finite (the body and the ego) and infinite (the universe and soul).
It is the place where time and timelessness intersect and where death and eternal life meet.
The thousand petal chakra embraces an attitude of gratitude for one’s life.
When we realize that everything is interconnected and that we are part of the larger scheme of life, we begin to live with gratitude, faith and trust, rather than filled with fear and anxiety.
We are guided by the higher power and we feel divinity from within and from without.
The challenge of this chakra is to liberate the spirit - open to the divine - and at the same time stay firmly rooted deep in the ground.

Changing up your diet to include healthy, whole foods and adding regular exercise to your routine is sometimes enough to help restore balance. However, if the overactivity is prolonged or severe, energy healing may be necessary to get your chakra energy flow back on track. Incorporating the use of aromatherapy, chakra healing stones, Reiki, or even Tai Chi can help alleviate issues of chakra overactivity.
It is important to remember energy healing takes time to work, so signs and symptoms of imbalance will not subside overnight.
Before Attempting To Open Your Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is a very important chakra that helps the other six chakras stay open, however, it is just as important to note that you must balance your root chakra before attempting to balance your crown chakra as you need a good foundation to remain grounded. The heart chakra - the wellspring of love, warmth, compassion, and joy is located in the center of the chest at the heart level.
Anahata moves love through your life.
It is the center of your deep bonds with other beings, your sense of caring and compassion, your feelings of self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness, and respect.
Anahata is an integrating and unifying chakra - bringing to wholeness - as such, it is your healing center. Indeed, most spiritual traditions recognize love as the ultimate healing force.
The energy of anahata allows us to recognize that we are part of something larger, that we are interconnected within an intricate web of relationships extending through life and the universe.
Anahata allows us to recognize and get in touch with the sacred and fundamental truth that runs through all of life and connects everything together.
The “way of the heart” or the “path of the heart” is living your life from this energy center of love.
It means living your life with loving kindness and compassion towards others. It means that your heart is open to others and you inspire kindness and compassion in others. You create safe and supportive environment.
Others can feel your love and warmth. They feel loved and accepted unconditionally. People feel at peace around you, as there is no judgment coming from you.
When anahata is open and energy is flowing freely, you are not only loving to others, you are also loving to your self. You know when you need to say no and when you need care and self-nurturing.
All of the seven chakras are important and while I cannot say that the heart chakra is the most important, I do want to say that it is very important.
Most of the world’s spiritual traditions recognize love as the unifying force, the energy that is the most fundamental part of the universe, and of ourselves.
To open to love is to reach to the deepest places and connect with our true essence, our spirit, and our soul.

The Solar Plexus Chakra, located between the navel and solar plexus, is the core of our personality, our identity, of our ego.
The third chakra is the center of willpower. While the Sacral chakra seeks pleasure and enjoyment, the third chakra is all about the perception of who you are.

The third chakra is the center of your self-esteem, your willpower, self-discipline, as well as warmth in your personality.

Since it plays such a fundamental role in self-confidence, an imbalance in the third chakra can cause many problems. Some common symptoms of blockage include:
Low self-esteem
Inability to set or maintain boundaries
Codependency
Lack of self-control
Depression or anxiety
Addiction
The solar plexus chakra is also important for physical health. It is closely tied to digestive health, but a blockage can cause an issue with other systems as well. Common physical symptoms of a blocked third chakra include:
Ulcers
Poor digestion, gas, nausea
Hypoglycemia
Diabetes
Asthma and other respiratory problems
Arthritis
Organ problems, especially in the liver and kidneys
Nerve pain and fibromyalgia
Difficulty gaining or losing weight
Solutions for a Blocked Solar Plexus Chakra
Clearing the blockage in your third chakra and allowing energy to flow freely through it will help return you to health. It is best to try to do daily healing work because falling back into old patterns can allow the blockage to form again.
Working with a Reiki practitioner or other energy healer can be a good way to start your healing journey. They will be able to help break up the blockage and can help locate other blockages or imbalances in your energy.
At home, meditation is the most effective way to break up a blockage. Everyone possesses healing energy, and you can harness it using visualization. The third chakra is associated with the color yellow and with fire, so imagine a golden healing flame just below your navel. As you breathe deeply, feel it dissolving any hurt or pain you are storing in your third chakra.
Surrounding yourself with things associated with Manipura will help as well. Wearing yellow, eating yellow foods, and wearing gold jewelry or gold and yellow gemstones can help open your third chakra. Spending time in the sun and doing yoga exercises that strengthen your core are also good for healing Manipura.
