heyo original anon w/ ultra rapid cycling, hypomania and mixed states, to the other anon and moderator: im so glad I helped make you feel less alone. it can feel so isolating to not have "typical" BD and you guys helped me too <33 have a lovely day x
:)Â
that bipolar feel when you go from ok to blank/emotionless to empty to sad to confused to frustrated to angry to borderline suicidal
x
that last bipolar feel of not feeling valid just reminded me so much of myself. I've been diagnosed with BD-NOS too with mixed states and rapid cycling and hypomania, and even my counselor at school was convinced I was just faking it for attention. So ty anon for making me feel less alone, and if you're reading this and relate, you're not alone either <3
aww yeah i feel that way too. like even having a legit diagnosis sometimes i’m like “but what if i’m just making it all up.” i think it’s because not everyone experiences mental illnesses the same way, so if you don’t have specific symptom you feel like a fake.Â
tbfw some people don't even think your disorder exists because you're BD-NOS with ultra-rapid cycling, hypomania and mixed states (on my side throwawaybloh)

That bipolar feel when you are mentally manic but physically tired so your mind and body fight it out on whether or not you get to sleep and you eventually sleep on the floor as a compromise.
to that anon: I'm bipolar and I too stopped taking my meds cold turkey and it was the worst decision of my life and ended up landing me in the hospital. if I were you I would talk to your boyfriend and ask him how he's feeling having gone off them, be honest w him about your concerns because ultimately you obviously care about him :)
yeah i agree with everything here
you guys i am so sorry! for some reason when i log in i don’t always get notifications of messages so even though i come on at least twice a week i don’t see them. again i’m really sorry and i’ll be sure to actually click on my messages to make sure i don’t miss them.Â
also yes this blog is still active and i’m going to try to devote more time to it
That rapid cycling feel when hypomania keeps you from sleeping but lack of sleep makes you crash back into depression
(submission)
tbpfw your depression gets really shit and no matter what people say to you its like getting hit in the head with a hammer and just makes things worse and worse and worse

Tfw people constantly try to educate you on your bipolar even though they know absolutely nothing about it
x
My boyfriend is bipolar. He was taking somewhat high doses of Seroquel and Lithium, but now has decided to stop. His psychiatrist let him stop immediately without weaning off slowly. Have you or any followers experience a similar situation? is there anything I should look out for? his parents want me to keep them updated on any ""strange"" behavior. thank you!
ooh yikes. people should NEVER stop cold turkey that’s a recipe for disaster. i’ve never experienced this personally, but maybe some followers have?Â
tbfw youre manic AND rlly tired so you make yourself coffee because you have to stay up all night because you have to Do Everything
x
What's the definition of hypo mania? Is it less intense mania? Or mania that doesn't last as long? I've seen tons of different psychiatrists over the years and almost all of them have diagnosed me with bipolar. I have weeks of intens depression, and then weeks where I feel ok, not happy, can do some things, and occasionally get rly hyper where I can't control my choices am very impulsive and make horrible decisions which I have to clean up later. But this usually only lasts a day or 2. (1/2)
2/2) I have halusinations a couple of times a week and delusions pretty regularly but it's just one or 2 hallucinations at a time not a full psychotic episode or break and it doesn't just happen when I'm hyper or happen more often when I'm hyper or depressed. In the pass dive been diagnosed with both bipolar one and 2 by different psychiatrists. But my current psychiatrists doesn't think I have either cuz my hypernes/mania doesn't last more than 4 days. Do you think I have actually bipolar?
yeah you definitely could. and yeah hypomania is a lesser form of mania. some people’s hypomanic/manic episodes are only that long because they cycle faster. i know that some older psychiatrists don’t believe people can cycle that fast so that’s probably why they don’t think you are bipolar. the thing with psychiatry is that it’s not like regular medicine where they run some diagnostic test to figure out what’s wrong with you. they have to judge based on your behavior and your answers to their questions so it’s not an exact science and sometimes they’re wrong. it’s just much harder. so anyway, if you feel very strongly that this is what’s wrong with you, you could always get a second opinion. but that’s up to you.Â
tbfw you're so depressed you can't understand what people are saying anymore.

to the anon wondering about schizophrenia: bipolar and schizophrenia arent really comorbid, since most of the time having symptoms of both bipolar and schizophrenia are due to bipolar type schizoaffective disorder. its worth looking into
for some reason i never got a notification of these older asks. sorry guys.Â
anyway, for previous anon.Â
i was diagnosed with depression and anxiety over a year ago. for a while now i've felt like something else was wrong and after some reading i'm starting to think i may be bipolar. i'm going to bring this up to my doctor, but is there anyone else who has experienced anything similar? like could this be affected by antidepressants or anything, or just being diagnosed with depression when it may have been something more, like bipolar disorder? thanks a bunch
well I was initially diagnosed with depression and anxiety before I was diagnosed as having bipolar disorder and it’s actually pretty common so it’s definitely a possibility. anti depressants would affect you if you were bipolar and taking ssri’s. they’ll cause you to have a manic episode. just be honest with your doctor and tell them the symptoms you’ve been having. i would say try tracking your moods as well because that’s also a big indicator.
