Silence yields greater rewards than we might realize, you can't expect the brain to function effectively when it's constantly carrying cargo it probably doesn't even need to be transporting.

No you don’t. Human brains did not evolve to perfectly retain information, and remain prone to cognitive bias, glitches in filling in incomplete sets of data, and even hallucination. Our eyes cannot perceive the full range of the known electro-magnetic spectrum, our ears cannot register the full range of audio frequency, etc. We are blindly groping our way through the universe, actively lied to by our senses, and we are guided only by accidental revelations in a million year long trial-and-error process. While our attempts at objective reasoning have improved dramatically throughout the years, the actual biological status of our minds remain unchanged. We’re talking about a species in which every member suffers from chronic can’t-remember-where-I-parked-half-an-hour-ago disease. We are the same apes that hunted the mammoth to extinction. And if the day ever comes, we will be the same apes that venture out towards the stars to explore both inner and outer space.
