auto immune disorders happen when the immune system ignores regulatory factors and begins attacking healthy bodily tissues, due to what scientists refer to as "sheer love of the game"

additional note. why do we call it āreligious experience.ā shouldnāt it be a āspiritual experience.ā āreligious experienceā implies one is like, connecting with a specific religious doctrine or something. like you orgasm so good that you specifically fully grasp the talmud

Autumn horror is one thing but Summer horror? God damn. Summer horror just gives me that nostalgic, happy feeling. On a whole other level.

Itās also so fascinating that like many cults the Harga appeal to the idea that they are ancient and sacred while what theyāre actually practicing is actually quite anachronistic and not particularly old. I know a lot of people have spoken about how this connects to the Harga life cycle and no one being allowed to be older than 72 so anyone older wouldnāt be able to speak about what was before or how they formed. But I really noticed it during the atestupa and the pictures of the may queens. The may queen photos could be explained away by the relatively recent invention of photography (then of course you must ask why such an artistically inclined culture would not have painted or drawn prior may queens) but I think the number of bloody rune inscribed stones at the atestupa there are. Because a truly ancient culture would surely have more than a couple dozen.
During the last act of the film I always recall Shirley Jacksonās short story The Lottery and how people can very easily adopt and continue to maintain even incredibly violent and purposeless behavior simply because they are ātradition.ā
Midsommar is a fantastic film for many reasons but I love how much you notice upon rewatching because in hindsight the contrast between the dead and dying houseplants in Daniās apartment and the lush greenery of the midsummer celebrations is so obvious but so subtle.
