Hottake but "it gives them comfort, it's just a harmless belief!" should be applied more to people who identify as animals or fictional characters etc and less to certian religions that rule over parts of the world and actively justify discrimination, racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, murder, slavery, pedophilea, etc etc etc.
