Some things happened recently and I wanted to reblog this and go into more detail on the things I mentioned briefly.
TW for mentions of R*pe, SH, stalking, misogyny, predators, cults and slurs, just a whole shitshow of what's not being mentioned during the rewrite issues.
Let's start with AdminBright/Mitch/Duckman.
They hated people using Bright in ways that didn't specifically fit how they wrote him, and they hated when people kinned their character. They have also stated that they're not similar to Bright in any way. They're a known pedophile/predator, they used to have a page on the wiki asking people for nudes, they even asked someone for topless pictures in the discussion on SCP-231 after that person had said they were female. They were on the wiki for way too long, only being actually banned twice recently, once temporarily, and the second permanently. (Note, the wiki leaves out the fact that they were interacting like this with minors)
His character is written to be a predator. It's even still in his personnel file. He writes most things into r*pe jokes or bad SA. Any female characters he gets his hands on, he writes into young (scarily young) victims of horrible things.
He takes files and changes them to involve cults or SA. He's credited with writing SCP-166, SCP-231 (massive tw for this one since it mentions cults and CSA), and SCP-031 (which originally belonged to a user known as PixelatedHarmony, he rewrote it)
I'll start with SCP-166. He didn't originally write the article, a user named far2. Here is the first version of SCP-166 by far2
And here is AuthorClef's "total rewrite" of SCP-166. TW again for mentions of SA. He entirely changed the article, took away her power of willingly controlling men (while the first article is still gross because she's a teenager, AuthorClef made it much much worse)

And here's what he said about the Teenage Gaia version of SCP- 166. After checking the articles linked, they're articles where she's still written to be a Teenage succubus. Articles where they're still creepy with an underage character.
He was banned for stalking and harassing someone because they were a furry. He also mass-edited/deleted many wiki articles. TW for slur usage and stalking.
Iceberg supposedly isn't around anymore because of his misogyny, Harmony isn't around anymore due to doxing and harassing people, numerous people on the wiki use slurs openly and even ban people out of nowhere. The wiki has been like this since 2008 and even before that when it was based around 4chan. There've been several accounts of wiki members stealing art for their SCP files in the past because that's what the wiki did, people would take random pictures they found and write it into a scientific take on an entity without crediting the artist. People have been banned from the wiki for "being stupid".

We can't just rewrite Bright while not caring about the long, long list of things that have happened on the wiki. Why aren't we rewriting anyone else? Why are we pretending no one else on the wiki sucks?
Bright belongs to the community now. If you're going to rewrite Bright, you need to acknowledge that he's not the only thing wrong with the site, otherwise it feels performative and like you're being hypocritical.
