BIOGRAPHY:
The youngest of the Monroe children, Teagan was born fiercely independent. It didn't help that she was using ASL to demand things before she could even speak, considering her family was in the process of becoming fluent because of her older brother and she easily picked up on it. Despite not being physically large, her personality and determination more than made up with it. And despite the fact her brother didn't really need Teagan to stand up for him, she was already ready to throw hands to defend him. Her parents called her a fire-cracker, mostly jokingly, though they didn't always appreciate how unruly she was. It came as a surprise then, that Teagan signed up to the army as soon as she was eighteen. Most people didn't believe she had the discipline to make it work; something that made her even more determined. It was on her second deployment overseas that Teagan and her unit were attacked, leaving the blonde with a broken pelvis and Teagan found herself medically discharged and facing months of rehab. During this time, Teagan became hooked on painkillers, an addiction that quickly spiralled out of control. Her family tried to support her but she pushed them away, refusing to admit that she had a problem. Until she nearly overdosed and ended up in hospital. It was then that Teagan allowed herself to be checked into rehab. It wasn't an easy journey, especially since Tegan still struggled with pain, but finally she seemed to get her life back on track. After spending a while taking a few volunteer positions for non-profits and things, Teagan put herself on track to be a state game warden with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries. With no drug convictions on her record, as well as her previous military service, it wasn't all that long before she was able to secure her badge, giving Teagan a new sense of purpose. Assigned to Caddo Parish, Teagan could stay close to family and the town she grew up in. While she did consider moving further away, to make a new start of it, she felt like she owed it to her family to stay close after everything they'd done for her. She does occasionally feel like the failure child, considering both Elizabeth and Elliot have stable lives and families, but she tries not to let those feelings get the better of her, knowing it could easily lead to a relapse that she's worked so hard to avoid.
