The last three days have been some of the most challenging of my new adult life- that is, one with an engine and two wheels. In three days, I have broken down with a dead battery, lost full use of my front breaks due to a foreign piece of metal in my disk + clamp and experienced a snapped terminal cable.

I have never owned an engine before and this bike has been nothing but bumps and broken racks. On this first 300+ miles trip alone, I installed a new battery, fixed and centered a fender, cruised a massive hill with no brakes, removed my front brake and dislodged a hunk of god-knows-where-it-came-from-oh-god-i-hope-it-isnt-from-my-bike piece of whatever razor sharp metal, and engineered a new terminal connection for my battery. I was accused of insurance fraud, been bailed on by two towing companies and befriended by mechanics, Napa clerks, bartenders and strangers in hardware stores across the state.

I have cried, given up, been re-energized to be let down, and reached States of sheer delusional surrender. But I did it and I survived.
