I just have a quick question about Redwood, mostly in the antagonist department. Is there a definitive villain that personifies a lot of the people who uphold the prejudice against giants, and is there a possible giant antagonist who serves as something of an darker counterpart to Asmund?
Oh this one is kind of complicated! So the first thing I should probably tell you is that the things that have been posted here are just a small piece of the whole thing. I've posted more about the giants because I have more of them figured out, and because I tend to get asked about them more. But the prejudice isn't the main thing! It's kind of a side thing among several other things, the more urgent one being a plot involving time travel and the Between. (which I realize I haven't clearly explained yet...)
There is an antagonist character, who I enjoy a lot and am excited to share eventually! But I am still working on some important things that revolve around him and don't want to spoil things too early. I can absolutely say his motivations have nothing to do with prejudice and everything to do with desperation to stop a terrible thing from happening - and being willing to do terrible things to prevent it.
The emperor may be a sort of vehicle for this prejudice, but his role is sort of in flux right now. I'm still tossing shit at the wall to see what sticks.
As for the giants, there are those who hold a grudge over the war still. Among them Asmund's father, Soren. The level of animosity varies. We may see some tension down the line, and possibly someone who seeks revenge. But that's all kind of uhhhhhh later? Like, the story I'm writing right now has its own plot, and the story that heavily involves the Greatfolk (other than Asmund) is something that would have to come after. If that makes sense? I have some ideas but nothing is set in stone.
Sorry if this is super duper vague! It's hard to decide what to share and what to keep secret in this early phase. Thanks for asking!
