I hope the ballroom is beautiful so people finally give up this obsession of conflating taste with character. We need a republican who has beautiful and interesting style who’s also a detestable uncompromising person.

I remember years ago having a conversation w friend who was so conflicted that “hrhcollection had cool style but is an awful person” and I was like…you can buy taste. I don’t think hrhcollection has good taste but this idea that taste is something the proletariat own and that “taste” is the essential quality of good art or expression is so unbelievably childish.
