Soundwave gives a little musical note emote when he's particularly happy and he starts singing a tune.

Watching the interactions between the cassettes is priceless

Soundwave is protective of the cassettes, and will remind you if you are late in tending to their needs.

His affection tracks the percentage of affection of the other cassettes, so you gotta keep everyone happy if you want Soundwave to remain happy too.

Ravage is the easiest to take care of.

Rumble and Frenzy often get stuck in places and will give a little distressed emote. Assist them immediately or Soundwave will start reminding you.
