Hi! My name is Tara. Some of you may know me from the Seattle club scene, but before I ever started working in night clubs, my main dream was to open a cafe that could be a community meeting space. When I first moved here a billion years ago, Seattle had many great coffeehouses like Paradiso and Cafe Vivace, and coffee bars like the original Pettit Rosso, the Aurafice, and the Online Coffe Bar. Now, late night coffee places just don’t exist! There seems to be an absolute dearth of places to go study away from home, or meet with friends before or after events, OR if you work nights, there’s nowhere to get your “morning” coffee in the evening! I would like to help fix that problem. My goal is to open a late night café/coffee shop, somewhere on Capitol Hill, hopefully relatively centrally located, and near transit. Of course, the closer to transit I get, the more expensive the lease will be, but I’m hopeful that I can find a reasonably affordable spot, and I will be working with some local business owners who like my idea and want to help me navigate the process of nailing a space down! Unfortunately, opening a business requires lots of money, and any savings I had originally earmarked for this venture was used during the COVID lockdown to keep the lights on, a roof overhead, and food on the table. We were only expecting the clubs to be closed for a few months, but as we all know, that was not the case.
