A couple of small mail art collages from an ongoing exchange begun fall 2025.

Well, this is where I was at last summer with this series, and the overall project. It’s all packed away now, I’ve also completed the Goldshore Rd monoprint series, and have moved on into the Ai Boxman project, which is somewhat outside of the RLG - although I am now working on the second of the collages planned for last summer/fall, of which I only completed one. The current new collage - like the first, rendered on/in an old, wooden screenprint screen frame, has shifted from the original plan, to now be something transitional - helping me shift into the Ai Boxman headspace. That will likely be the case with the third collage as well. As for the #1 Watercurtain… It’s a ragged thing that I intended to leave that way, but I’ve decided to re-work it… in some fashion - but it may need to sit and simmer while I progress with newer projects, including a mail art project I began last fall… anyhow. Still trying to keep more involved with tumblr, despite the vacuum I exist in here - it’s really the same everywhere, but this is more real. I still have to get out and drop a line too.

Boxman Ai is, as a starting point, a large mixed media collage/painting on canvas, loosely related to Kōbō Abe’s 1973 novel - “The Boxman”. And that’s all I’ll say about it at this point. Though there’s nothing related to it on my website either, nor very much about the Goldshore Rd. progression, one can find more related to the full RLG project to this point there - link in the header.

RLG - Watercurtain Series #4 - North Spirit - 2025

Ohh - been a while, and I’m way behind on posting this series and other things I’ve completed… but this is a pretty slow place for me, so, while I’ll try to remember to pick things up a bit, it won’t likely be more often than once or twice a week.

RLG Watercurtain Series: #6 - August into Winter 2025/26

Finally completed my website update tonight, so I shall post some of the new works here over the next while. Won’t bother with much descriptive text. Spent the last while writing that for the update, so that’s where it can be found. Link at top of page.

A series of mixed media “documental monoprints”, which involved rendering on a set of engravings I printed from a found plate of a scene some sort of museum of taxidermic wildlife I bought at a flea market in Almonte ON. I worked on them periodically over the summer and they took over for the documentation that had formerly been undertaken in the RLG Dokumenta, which in the end, they will be a part of.

A pair of companions to F&L ‘86 below. Much smaller, they were composed from test pieces which were sitting around as I finished ‘86 and subsequently shipped it off to Red Lake - gifted to a friend and collaborator. I have completed a dozen other pieces of the RLG project since May, and while there are several more works of the 3 sets they entail, two of those sets will be complete soon, and I have begun photos and documentation in preparation for my website update and eventual social media posts and such, so, there’ll be some more activity here soonish.

Project continues with 3 collages, 6 monoprints, and 9 large watercolour/ink mixed media pieces in progress and in dokumenta.

Retro collage! This one sat on the easel for more than a year I’m sure. Picked away at it while working on those recent sculptures. Includes lots of bits from over the years, including a student self portrait from 1986. Is also a part of the series of collages for the RLG project. This one is slated to ship to Red Lake to live in a cabin there - which relates to some of the collaborative aspects of the project documented on my website - which has now been updated. Finally attached the tiny Golden Eagle sculpture to final of the three sculptures of the RLG project. The Great Cuckoo. Got some photographs done, though still have editing and such, and am now getting a dozen or so more pages of documentation ready to complete the addition to the RLG Dokumenta in my long awaited website update - along with the rest of the completed artwork from the past year. Currently only one month behind schedule due to the book cover commission - will probably take at least another month to get everything in order. I also have to replace a number of corrupt files from my initial website launch - mostly work so far down the chronology that I’d seriously doubt that anyone has even run across it.

The book (see post below) is now out. Only in French so far - not sure that there will be an English or other language editions, so, I shan’t be able to read it for the time being.

Windsor Salt - artwork for back & front cover of a book to be published by Prise de Parole, written by Elvis Nouemsi Njike - tentatively titled “Mariage Par Contumace”. About 1/3 of each image is designed to be folded inside for the flaps (about 2/3 of each of the red seals will be on the outside of the cover.) This is presuming their Graphic Designer uses the full images as is, which presumably they will, after choosing a font and laying out the title and additional text. They didn’t ask that I refrain from posting images until after publication, but as virtually nobody sees my tumblr or Twitter posts, I figure this won’t spoil anything for them.
