That night, the storm lord and the knight of skulls and kisses both swore they would unmask the Knight of the Laughing Tree. The next day, however, the knight failed to appear. The king sent the dragon prince to find the knight, but all he found was the shield. Bran likes the story, but wishes the she-wolf had been named queen of love and beauty. Meera says that she was, but that is a sadder story.
The Amethyst Empress was the legendary eight ruler of the mythic Great Empire of the Dawn and one of its last monarchs. She succeeded her father, the Opal Emperor but was cast down and slain by her envious younger brother, who crowned himself the Bloodstone Emperor. According to the annals of the Further East, it was the Blood Betrayal, as his usurpation was named, that ushered in the Long Night.

âThe Princess Elia was a good and gracious lady,â âkind and clever, with a gentle heart and a sweet wit.â
Elia Nymeros Martell of Sunspear, wife to prince Rhaegar and mother of Rhaenys and Aegon
The crannogman focused his attention on Ashara Dayne (âa maid with laughing purple eyesâ), a companion of Elia, who was dancing in turns with various partners. First a member of the Kingsguard, a red snake, third the lord of griffins, and lastly Eddard Stark. Eddard was too shy to ask her for a dance, so Brandon asked her on behalf of his brother.
She was no stranger to waiting, after all. Her men had always made her wait. ⎠Fancasting

Or was it the grieving sister, the Lady Ashara? She threw herself into the sea, Iâm told. Why was that? For the brother you slew, or the child you stole?

She remembered her own childish disappointment, the first time she had laid eyes on Eddard Stark. She had pictured him as a younger version of his brother Brandon, but that was wrong. Ned was shorter and plainer of face, and so somber. He spoke courteously enough, but beneath the words she sensed a coolness that was all at odds with Brandon, whose mirths had been as wild as his rages. Even when he took her maidenhood, their love had more of duty to it than of passion. We made Robb that night, though; we made a king together.

asoiaf & got characters // pt. VI - Elia Nymeros Martell
âPrincess Elia was a good woman, Your Grace. She was kind and clever, with a gentle heart and a sweet wit. I know the prince was very fond of her. [âŠ] Rhaegar Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone and heir to the Iron Throne, took to wife Princess Elia Martell of Sunspear, and sired two children by her. But for the madness of Rhaegarâs father, Aerys II, a prince of Dornish blood might very well have one day ruled the realm, but the upheavals of Robertâs Rebellion brought about the end of Prince Rhaegar, his wife, and his children. [âŠ] Rhaegar had chosen Lyanna Stark of Winterfell. Not the queen, who was not present. Nor Elia of Dorne, though she was good and gentle. [..] Prince Doran frowned. âIf ever a man deserved to die screaming, it was Gregor Clegane. He butchered my good sister, smashed her babeâs head against a wall. I only pray that now he is burning in some hell, and that Elia and her children are at peace."â
Iâve had an awful week and I was wondering if you could please write me Aegon V x Betha Blackwood fic? Pretty please I love your writting
ordinarily i donât take anon fic prompts, but i too have been having an awful couple of weeks and i do what i want.
âyouâre overly fond of lord bloodravenâs kin,â his father told him, grabbing his arm as he got to his feet. Â the hall was loud, and there was music playing and betha was dancing with landry tyrell. Â
âlord bloodraven is our kin, too,â aegon replied, annoyed, but far from making his father let go of his arm, maekar targaryenâs hand tightened.
âdonât get smart with me,â he said. Â âyouâre not a willful boy, aegon. Â you should be wary of her connection to him.â
âshe has no more connection to him than i do. Â lessâeven. Â he has spent far more time here than at raventree hall.â
maekarâs gaze seemed to waver between each of his sonâs eyes. Â âdo you love her?â
aegon gaped at his father. Â âsheâs my friend, father,â he said.
âso you wonât mind my saying that if you go and interrupt her dance with lord tyrellâs heir, you may ruin her chances of a fine match to a great house?â
despite himself aegon turned to look out at the dance floor. Â there she was, weaving through the dancers, smiling when she took lord landryâs hands. Â she was too far away to see her face in full, but he knew the way her eyes glittered when she smiled like that.
next to him, his father sighed. Â âyouâre too pigheaded for your own good,â he said at last.
âwonder where i get it from,â aegon responded before thinking. Â to his surprise, his father chuckled. Â
âi was right,â his father sighed.  âyou are overly fond of her.  just donât be a fool, aegon.  love makes everyone a fool, one way or another.  she is lord bloodravenâs kinââ he could hear his father rolling his eyes ââas are we.â
aegon was still staring at betha.  surely the dance didnât call for lord tyrellâs hand to be that low down her back, did it?  gods but i sound like a stupid child.
betha had always japed that she liked that heâd been a stupid child. Â
would her eyes sparkle if he asked her to dance?
suddenly he was nervous.  he hadnât been when heâd gotten to his feet, intent on interrupting her and lord landry, for lord landry was boring and he and betha had made it a rule between them that they should always rescue one another from boring people.  but her eyes are sparkling at him now.  she is laughing.
âmay i go, father?â he asked and maekar released his arm. Â
he descended from the dais as the song ended and the dancers applauded the musicians.  lord landry extended a hand to betha and was about to ask her for another dance when aegon appeared at his shoulder.  âlord landry, if i might steal away your partner,â and who was landry tyrell to refuse a prince of the bloodâŠeven one so far down the line of succession that oft a not he was forgotten at parties like this one.
he set himself opposite betha who gave him a smile.  she glanced for a moment after lord tyrell before saying, quietly, âyouâre late.â
âlate?â
âdo you know how hard it is to convince a tyrell that i care about roses?â she made a face.  âhe kept going on and on and on and on about them and all i wanted was to say, âmy lord have you never seen a water lily? come talk to me when you recognize the scent of weirwood sap on the air for i can hardly call you a horticulturalist if you canât.ââ
aegon chuckled as they began to dance. Â âi think, my lady, the rose may have been a metaphor.â
âwhat for?â betha asked.
âdonât be stupid, betha. Â itâs beneath you.â
betha gave him a horrified look.  âtake those words back into your mouth aegon targaryen!â she hissed.  âhe does not want to marry me!â
her affront eased whatever jealousy heâd felt on the dais.  lord tyrell may see her glittering eyes, but it wasnât the true glitter, and it certainly wasnât the flaming outrage that aegon was sure was reserved only for those in her closest confidence.  or, perhaps, just him.  âwhat other rose would he try to interest you in?  it would be a fine match.â
âa fine match,â betha scoffed. Â âdonât talk to me about fine matches. Â youâre not my father.â
aegon remembered a purplefaced man, horrified that his daughter had wrestled in the mud with a squire just because she thought he was stupid.  âi should hope not,â he said.  he thought of his own father.  he could almsot feel prince maekarâs eyes burning into the back of his head.  âforgive me.  iâll speak no more of matches.â
but something in his voice earned him a sharp gaze that melted into a look heâd never seen in her face before. Â heâd seen betha angry, heâd seen betha joyful, heâd seen betha determined, heâd seen betha excitedâbut her gaze was guarded now, soft somehow and his feet faltered in the steps of the dance.
part of him wanted to kiss her. Â a larger part of him was sure sheâd bite his lip if he tried. Â except, a small but loud part of him protested, that gaze is so confusingly soft.
the music had cceased and the dancers around them were applauding once more, but he and betha were just standing there, staring at one another. Â when someone approached, trying to dance with her next, betha hardly seemed to notice. Â and when the music struck up again, she danced once more with aegon.
Matters became more complicated when, with Ser Otto Hightowerâs encouragement, King Viserys announced his intention to wed the Lady Alicent, Ser Ottoâs daughter and the Old Kingâs former nursemaid. For the most part, the realm celebrated this union. Rhaenyra, secure in her place as heir, welcomed her fatherâs new bride, for they had long known one another at court. Not all was so joyous in the Vale, however, where Prince Daemon was said to have whipped the servant who brought him tidings of the marriage, nor at Driftmark, where Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenys had seen their daughter, Laena, rejected by the king as well.
You never knew Lyanna as well as I did

||ALYSSA VELARYON SERIES||
âThey said Maegor was never the same, after the death of his mother.â
Alyssa turned at the sound of Robarâs voice, interrupting her contemplation of the Iron Throne. The empty throne.
âShe was his greatest champion,â Alyssa replied. âHow is Jaehaerys?â asked Jaehaerysâ mother, his greatest champion.
âSafely installed in the kingâs bedchamber, with only the most trusted of your men as his guards, as you commanded,â Robar reassured her.
âI had to see it for myself. Where he died.â Where the torturer and murderer of her son Viserys and the captor and rapist of her daughter Rhaena died. âHe cheated me.â
âBy dying of his own hands?â
Alyssa nodded. âI have dreamed of it often. My hands around his neck, strangling the life out of him. My knife upon his throat, opening him up from ear to ear. I knew I must not do it, of course, even if I had the chance. Maegor must die in a field of battle, or be sentenced to death in a legitimate trial, or Jaehaerysâ reign will begin with a taint that could never be washed away. A motherâs fury ⊠a motherâs vengeance ⊠I knew I must set it aside. But I had hoped, at least, that he would be forced to account for himself, for his sins and his crimes, in front of the whole realm. I had hoped at least that my own eyes and ears would be witnesses to him confessing his crimes, confessing what he did to my children. Instead, he had the chance to choose his own ending, without having to answer to anyone other than himself.â
âThere is only dishonor and cowardice in the manner of death he chose. And he will be remembered as the cruel tyrant that he was, nothing more. We will make certain of that.â
âWill that bring my Viserys back? Or my Aegon? Will that cure Rhaena of her nightmares?â
âNo. But -â
âBut it must be done nonetheless. For the sake of Jaehaerysâ reign. I know.â
Robar nodded. âYou told me once that what kept you going through all the loss, grief and despair was the need to take the next step, and the next, and all the ones after that. That journey has not ended. The road ahead is full of treacherous challenges.â He paused, offering his hand to her. âBut you need not travel that road alone, Your Grace. There is strength in -â
âIn you?â she asked, raising her eyebrows. âMust I put my faith in that, Lord Robar, rather than in myself?â
âIn two. There is strength in two. In two people united by a common purpose, joined by a shared destiny.â
