“…but you’re Peggy’s niece, and that’s a little weird. Also, we were just at her funeral, so maybe let’s talk in a year.”

“Hey, here are some FDR pens you might like. Also, wasn’t Bucky brainwashed by Hydra? I have this memory-correcting software called BARF, maybe we could give that a whirl.”

“You were going to NUKE New York City, and you’re upset because we knocked over a few buildings?”

“Ultron as going to kill everyone, and you’re upset because we knocked over a few buildings?”

“Wasn’t keeping track of the Hulk your job, General Ross?”

“Wait, what’s this about no lawyers and a fucking ‘raft prison?’ I’m not signing this bullshit.”

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

“Wait, where was your dad even going with all that supersoldier serum?”

“What’s in the backpack?”

“So you got your shield back, and Falcon got his wings, but where’s my backpack?”

“Three days? I think it might take my lawyer a little more time to wade through that telephone directory you just dumped on the table, so let’s have an adjournment on that, hey?”

“And just how long have you been working on this document about governing the Avengers without consulting the actual Avengers, Secretary Ross?”

“Why don’t you ask your daughter if SHE knows where Dr. Banner is, Mr Secretary? If she’s talking to you these days, that is.”

“Wanda, will you marry me so you can get a green card? The US has some bullshit rule about not granting visas to dangerous powered people.”

Okay, so this turned into War and Peace. Which should perhaps surprise nobody who reads my fic.

As mentioned last night, I greatly enjoyed Captain America: Civil War in the moment – it’s tremendous fun, with wit and action and competency – but I have notes: * I think we’re going to have to change the jargon from “getting jossed” to “getting russoed” because the Brothers Russo destroyed more fanon in one movie than Whedon ever did.
