I don't write poems anymore but here we go....... Been stuck on faith since I was a little girl. Never understood why God always had me speak about faith to my peers. Faith is something I firmly stand on now as an adult. The question is, what is faith? As a child you don't understand what faith is. You hear the word all the time growing up in church but you never fully understand. I know you're saying this poem doesn't rhyme but just give me a moment of your time. You hear the preacher say "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen," but you still go home confused. You never understand faith until yours is tested. Preachers want to preach about faith all the time. They use Job, the woman at the well, the woman with the issue of blood, but do they tell you about their hard times. They try to appear perfect & strong & never confused. But do they ever become transparent with you? If I'm a nonbeliever help me understand. Make me believe that I should have faith in this man. The one you say die for my sins, hung on a cross & paid the cost. Help me believe that having faith in a man I can't see is something worth doing. I'm tired of Christians having testimonies but never telling them. We're too prideful. So scared that someone might think we're weak or incapable of doing something that we were actually incapable of doing. Is that not why we called on God? Is that not why we have faith in him? We as Christians love spitting scripture at people. We give spirituality but do we hit them with reality? That we once questioned God's plan but realized we don't have to understand, we just have to trust in the man. It's time for Christians to stand up and tell people what is really is, what is really was. That at one time we didn't have it all together, we questioned God's movements. Show them that they're not the only ones that went through this. So let's get back to reality & show people we're bold. We aren't ashamed of victory & afraid of our testimonies. Show them that will all our affliction we can still have faith & be a fearless Christian.
