taissa is not necessarily hated but more ignored. as the only Black main character, she tends to get way less attention than the others. if she does get attention, it's mostly about her relationship with her (white) girlfriend van without any serious exploration of her character. though there are some works including her on ao3, it's mostly her and her gf being a background couple without any further thought to it. if you look through the top posts on the yellowjackets fanart tag, it takes forever until sth about her pops up (mostly her and her gf again). i actually really like her relationship, but it feels like people only care about taissa in that setting. and again, she is a main character with tons of interesting scenes and a lot of complexity that rarely gets discussed. she also has a lot of very interesting dynamics with the other characters and even though the yellowjackets fandom is big on multishipping (and shipping in general) taissa is rarely included in that. she and her canon gf also get way less attention than many of the other pairings (even though they are THE canon lesbians of the show). later on taissa has a wife who is Black btw and pretty much completely ignored by the fandom.. the show is definitely partly to blame for that, since her wife kinda falls into the disposable Black gf trope and the writers generally fumbled tai's story in parts. however, she's still a very intriguing character and other characters with potentially worse writing still get a lot of love. (there are also some instances of her being described as bitchy, too mean or egocentrical when that's literally not true at all. but i can't speak to much on that bc i prefer not to engage with this and i also think it's not a major part of the fandom that sees her that way.)

It wasn’t your fault, not really. She’d been blowing you off, one or two word replies. Never available, leaving you on read for hours, sometimes not replying until the next morning.

What were you supposed to do, really? If she didn’t want to talk, that was fine.

So you didn’t talk.

You didn’t pick up when she called, even though you knew exactly what she was calling for, and you were soaking your panties just thinking about it.

You blinked, eyes flitting back up to hers, trying to put on an unimpressed expression. “Hi.” You crossed your arms.

“Oh, now you can talk to me, hmm?” She asked, still in that sickly-sweet voice, dropping to a whisper as she continued, “Are you gonna let me in, or are we gonna do this in the hallway for your neighbors to watch?”

You swallowed hard and shrugged, standing back to let her in. She brushed by you, far closer than was necessary, and God, she smelled like sweat and coffee and those Malboro Reds she bought at gas stations-

“What exactly did you think you were doing?” She asked as you shut the door behind her, waltzing into your apartment like she owned the place, pulling off her overcoat and draping over the back of a chair.

You shrugged, not letting your eyes leave her. “I don’t know what you mean.”

“You know exactly what I mean.” Tai said, laughing a little bit. “When I text you, I expect an answer.”

You crossed your arms. “Shouldn’t that go both ways? You were doing the same thing to me just a couple days ago.”

She smiled at you, completely unamused. “I am a very busy woman, honey, I don’t always have time to answer your booty calls.”

“I don’t know, you seem to juggle a wife and a girlfriend pretty well, I didn’t think it would be that much of a problem for you…”

Tai walked towards you. “We don’t talk about her, baby…” She said.

Oh, now you’d done it.

She ghosted her lips over yours, pulling back to murmur, “You’re that needy? So fucking desperate that you’re getting an attitude, because, what?” She asked. “Because you’re hoping I’ll fuck it out of you? Is that what you wanted?”

You were trying to keep the unbothered front on, you really were, but she was so fucking close to you and you could feel your brain start to cloud over and the only thing that came out of your throat was a whine.

“Oh, now you wanna be good for me?” She asked, one hand sliding up your body to rest across your throat. “You were so willing to be mouthy just a few minutes ago. All I had to do is invade your personal space and you’ll listen to me? Is that it?”

You nodded, mouth falling open as you looked up at her.

“Use your words.” She said. “I have no problem walking back out that door and blocking your number.” That was a fucking lie, of course it was, but the warmth pooling in your lower belly didn’t really seem to care.

“Yes.” You said. It came out higher pitched than you’d meant it to.

She rolled her eyes as she pulled away, a hand on you hip to pull you with her, a smile playing at the corners of her lips.

She laid you across your own couch like you were made of glass. Her touches were light, like you’d crumble to pieces if she held you the way her fingers ached to.

“You haven’t forgotten everything, right, baby?” Tai asked, her fingers trailing up your sides, under your shirt.

“Yeah?” She murmured, hands leaving your chest to slip the shirt over your head. “What’s my rule?”

“You come first.” You whispered.

“What was that?” She asked mockingly. “Try again baby, I didn’t quite hear you…”

You let out a whine. It’s pathetic, honestly, but you know it was what she wanted to hear.

“You come first.” You forced the words out a second time, louder, and she grins.

“Good. You’re not planning on ignoring that rule like you’ve been ignoring me for the past week, are you?”

You shook your head.

Her thumbs hooked on the waistband of your shorts, tugging them down your thighs and pulling them off. She glanced up at you. “Use your words.”
