life is funny and music is such a gift.
after 18 years of listening to Prima J's album, Inside Out has only just now become one of my favorite songs. The album officially has no skips <3
The Resistance
Warnings: none. An exploration of racial preference, misgoynoir, expectations, aversion, and other such themes.
Author's Note: I don't usually write irl people anymore. I have long since left the realm of fandom of real people/celebrities. I am doing this as a processing/therapy exercise for the last bits of parasocial hoopla I am working through. Enjoy.
Prompt: Michael B. Jordan does a radio interview about his dating preferences, again, but this time he decides to be honest...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"People could feel how they want, but I have to live in my truth, and I'm sorry if that hurts feelings or ruins perceptions. I am with her and that is what it is," Michael said honestly. He'd consulted with his agent about the decision and had ample time to mentally prepare himself.
"I feel you bro, you entitled to love who you love. Sistas, Black women gotta know its not always personal," Ebro said into the mic, looking into his guest's eyes with sincere support.
"I need to be able to move around do what I do without worry about this opinion or that or the next. I'm almost 40 and that's just what I owe to myself and my partner at this point in my life and career. The amount of dodging I had to do sucks. "
"Yeah, it does," Ebro says between pinching his beard and readjusting his mic, "because it's not fair to you to have to put on this act. Truth is not every Black man is going to end up with a Black woman. And that's real," the silence in the room was comfortable and unchallenging.
" But I did want to ask you...it seemed, to the public at least that once upon a time there was major chemistry, major chemistry, between you and a former co-star. Elle N'gobi. Was that real? Or was that just... 'I know if I don't look like I'm interested or into this that the public will judge me for dating preferences'. Can you speak on that?"
"Uhh yeah. I love Elle, lots of respect for her, " Michael tucked his lip into mouth and looked down, his half hooded eyes looking fully closed, "but you know you have press and you have a responsibility to sell the movie and you know, that's what I did. We are friends and I just I want to be able to live openly with the people I date and love."
"Even if they're not Black women," Ebro offered as a closing statement to his sentence. A comfortable agreement, served up so that the truth could be said without it seeming to have come from Michael himself.
"Yeah, it's not even that. I just have to be me."
"So there you have it ladies and gentleman. He's come clean. Please do not have harass this man. Sistas, its no reason to be insecure. We got love for y'all. Be civil, and as usual leave your comments below."
The outro transitional music played for the radio show. Michael left the room feeling a sense of relief and pride.
The comments poured in. He wasn't prepared to read them just yet, still wanting to preserve the high of his Oscar win. He wasn't sure what would happen next but he was glad he finally got to tell his truth.
first piece on here in a few years.

when hayao miyazaki said that true love was two people inspiring each other to live…recognizing just how hard living is, putting one foot in front of the other every day, how easy it is to lose our passion for it…… that’s the real shit

this account is anti-generative A.I.
Generative A.I. is NOT artificial intelligence. Of course much of the world is keen to accept free therapy, emotional labor, and creative advice from enslaved labor. The people at the data farms in the Global South, real humans who work for pennies on the dollar (nearly no wage), are the ones generating responses to your prompts.
People subject these laborers to making violent images, CSAM, and other awful things.
GENERATIVE AI is killing the planet, and the very first counties to reap the wreckage of the exploitative habits are Black & non-Black Indigenous people.
the way ozempic has finally made the fact that eating healthy and exercising doesn't necessarily make you thin well known and society's reaction to this is not "oh i guess being thin or fat doesn't actually show if you're healthy" but "oh i guess everyone should be on this drug"
