Do you have any Alema Rar headcanons?
I'm just, like. Contemplating her, as I slowly write fics where she gets the love she deserves.
Yes definitely, though itās more leaning toward my personal opinion of what her arc shouldāve been, I suppose, since Iām not a fan of how her character was treated in the LotF series (and DNT I think) tbh
Still, I had to admit that the majority of what I know of the Dark Nest Trilogy comes from Wookieepedia and those bits and pieces of mentions in LotF, but the plot decision to turn her into a dark-sider and to give her this revengeful assassin character just irks meā¦a lot. Her character arc from then on just felt so off all the way down, to the point where the only connection sheās had with her personality in NJO is just her grief over her sister. And itās just so unfair to see the message of her healing lost in the plot while new stuff like this feud between her and the Solo family, like all this dark and edgy drama, being added to her story. Not to mention that whole thing with her disfigurement, at the hands of LeiaāI mean, as much as Iād like to see her happy and well, Iām still not against the idea of her suffering from disfigurement, but was that really necessary to have Leia do the job, out of everyone?
Uhhh somehow it turned into some rantingā¦anyways. I think the most important thing I saw in her story is the need to heal, like what Luke told her in NJOāto join others and heal, from the pain that accompanied her since the very start of her story in Star Wars. Her introduction into this series was immediately followed by tragedy, and I think that says a lot about what shouldāve been the most essential in her character development, as it is also relevant to the theme of Star Wars after allāto overcome her grief, to embrace the love and friendship that still welcome her, to seek the light when all she knew was darkness in her past. Itās not like the influence of Dark Side and the disfigurement canāt be added to her character arc, but these elements should be treated with care so to give the story more depth, so that when she decides to surrender to light instead of her grief, there will have been another heroās journey accomplished. Be it during the Dark Nest Crisis or any other event when she fell prey to the Dark Side or her disfigurement at the hands of some foe, I want to see her eventually healāmaybe the hive mind is there to influence her perception of the world and herself, so that sheād realize that she still has friends around who care for her, so that sheād go back to the Jedi one day, making her peace with the lasting grief at last. After all, healing is what her character arc calls for, and I just want to see that happen for real.
