#ziggy.

WANTED CONNECTIONS.

➥ close friend / friends: ziggy is not a terribly social person unless they are trying to get information for a story or interviewing someone, however it would be nice for them to have a few people in their life and at least one that was there pre-beau ( they are aware he’s the golden retriever of the relationship ). ➥ co-workers: i feel like they all work together closely and debate important topics, maybe someone they work closely with on everything from either side of wder ➥ siblings: has one older sibling and a younger sister.

DIGGING DEEPER.

TW: parental death

ziggy was born the middle of three in what used to be considered new england, in the northern east atlantic region though their father’s position in the east atlantic army had them moving around a lot. this made it hard to make connections with anyone in the early years of life but it did strengthen the bond between them and their siblings. it made them significantly closer and didn’t make the lack of other socialization feel like they were missing out on anything. at least that’s the way it was for ziggy, they couldn’t speak for their siblings feelings on the matter. they were young when their father brought a camera home for them the first time and their mother, a teacher, encouraged them to use it then write about what they saw. it was what first sparked their interest in journalism, in a weird way and got them excited to explore each new area they went to.

the moving around eventually came to a stop but if you ask ziggy, they’d rather it didn’t because the price was far too high. his father was killed on active duty not long after he’d become a teenager. their mother raised her three kids the best after that but it also meant that they often sacrificed things that were not necessities. all three children tried to help out to make their mother’s life easier ; watching out for each other, bringing their baby sister to activities or schooling when it was available, chores around the house, etc. all while their mother worked two jobs and tried to make ends meet.  from her, ziggy learned the importance of hard work and while she was a bit on the closed off side when it came to emotions and empathy, ziggy had a lot of love for her. likely took after her in many ways.

the minute ziggy was old enough to be considered for a job with the daily burn, he started trying for a journalist position. it took awhile, at first they got nothing, then was hired on as a photographer and after being consistent with that and submitting multiple mock articles, they were also given a journalist position. they still do photography as well, both for the paper and as a hobby. they actually created their own dark room when they were still living with their mother. perhaps that was the reason they got hired on for their photography before their writing, there was much more to show for those skills versus the others. 

while ziggy knew getting the job with wder media would change their life, they had no idea how true that statement would end up being in the long run. it all started with hearing the need in the community to learn how to grow their own produce and cultivate crops whether food or simple foliage. that set ziggy into motion to find those who'd been successful in the agricultural and horticulture department. this led him to beau, who they'd seen plenty of times before but didn't say much to. honestly they hadn't expected to have a reason to talk to him, lord knows ziggy wouldn't have been confident enough to do it without good reason. he's glad he did, though, because if he hadn't he would've missed out on meeting the love of their life. 

for the past couple of years his orange tabby, nacho, and ziggy have integrated their life with beau’s. they moved in with him just on the edge of town and have been enjoying learning about the small farm life along with working for wder media still and bringing information to the people of devil’s elbow and beyond. he’s still close with his family and checks in with them often. life isn’t bad, they’d venture to say it might even be good despite the post-apocalyptic world they live in.

headcanons:

found nacho as a kitten in a dumpster and brought him back to good health and has raised him ever since. he is basically ziggy’s son and he would do anything for him

almost always has at least one camera on him and a notepad and pencil, if not a palm digital notepad. always jotting down ideas for stories, random quips, poetry lines, etc.
