so many people keep saying "i'm not as smart as i used to be, i'm losing words and can't think clearly... it must be all this social media"
guys. i'm gonna hold your hand when i say this... we've had social media for over a decade. if everyone just recently is struggling with their brain function, it's probably something more recent. like the disabling virus still going around that everyone is ignoring which causes brain damage.
covid is still here. it affects your brain & your health! start protecting yourself from it đ·

Bender Bending Rodriguez
â Of course Bender will try to play it off and act nonchalant, outwardly offering a mildly concerned expression and a comment about how fragile meat bodies are. One would think it was just an interruption to his day the way he seemed to want to move on.
â Inside, though? Bender is freaking out, processors flaring as they ruminate over the scenarios of a life without youâŠand they do not handle it well. He canât lose your attention let alone your role as his favorite person, your presence at his side sharing a drink, the way you touch him and let him all but get away with murder. None of it.
â On his way Bender is fidgeting and swaying, pacing and completely unable to stand still. If anyone brings it up, heâll claim heâs just bored and theyâre going too slow actually.
â âWhatâs up?â You hear Benderâs voice in a deeply failed attempt to sound like he happened to be there. âI got you some flowers. Figured, you know, itâs a little plain in here and maybe theyâd help you remember me by. Did you miss me? Oh, and howâs your shoulder? Did they let you keep the knife? How big was it?"
â Shaking your head, you smile wearily up at him and sit up, wincing. Pushing aside the hideously patterned powder blue fabric the hospital draped you with, you reveal a crimson-stained bandage wrapped from the base of your neck, under and around your arm, leaning so your flushed head brushes against the cool steel of his shoulder.
â âOh, alright, fine, quit badgering me! I missed you like crazy, is that what you wanted to hear? I love you and couldnât believe even your inferior human body was going to fail that soon! Geez!â Bender bursts out in feigned indignation you smile at and let play out, his visor quickly straightening and narrowing from seeming anger to sadness as he starts sobbing. âI didnât know what I was going to do without you! Not without being really, really bored!â âI love you, too, Bender, and donât worry,â you tease, pulling him closer with your non-bandaged arm, âYouâre not ride of me yet! Thank you for the flowers.â âOnly the best for you, baby.â
Phillip J Fry
â Fry is the first thing youâll see when you come to, his eyes blinking away tears and widening in a tired smile. Five oâclock shadow has built up on his face and you wonder how long youâve been out when you see him.
â âDid I go into a coma over it?â Your anesthesia-addled brain blurts out its first thought. âNo, but I was scared anyway!â Fry answers, gripping your hand in both of his. âWhat did they take out?â âIt was a hernia,â you reply, hissing when you shift, âNothing came out, they only put something in.â
â âWait, what was it that got so much worse on that last mission then?â âPart of one of my organs peeked through its linings and they had to put it back in and support it with a little screen.â Cue Fry politely trying and failing miserably to hide his dry heaving.
â The others tell you how gently Fry touched you when you were out, his fingers stroking yours and only letting go when he was forced to eat and used the restroom one single time.
â âYouâre going to be down for a long time, huh? Well, Iâll be the one who helps you walk again!â âActually this is an outpatient procedure, Iâll be going home at the end of the day and hopefully walking a little by later today or tomorrow.â âWow, they put your guts back in and youâre up that fast? The future is amazing!â âIt was the same in your time,â you chuckle, leaning over to kiss his cheek, âbut yes it is.â
â Fry is going to be bragging about you all week, holding your hand up in his as if it's a gold medal, not only because you're his partner but because you, in his words, "survived your organs falling out like it was no big deal". You don't bother correcting him, not when he's been so attentive and affectionate these days."
Turanga Leela
â She was there with you when it happened. She watched you go down, tumbling helplessly to the ground before she could run to catch you. You were in her arms as soon as you could be and it was Leela who called for help.
â Absolutely fights the paramedics to get to ride with you and only lets go of your hand if she has to for medical reasons like moving for pulse checking, shots, or an IV.
â They tell you theyâre worried about your chances but Leela, right outside the doors, insists youâll be fine. You have to be.
â Anything they can try, even a risky surgery or transplant of necessary, and sheâll insist they do it immediately. She wonât stop until youâre ok again.
â You awake with your hand in hers, eyes fluttering as they focus on Leelaâs loving gaze. âI knew you could do it. I knew youâd be alright.â âItâs because I had the best captain in the solar system to protect me.â
â Without thinking, she pulls you into her chest, stopping only when a faint hiss of pain escapes you. Stiffening, Leela keeps careful hold of your shoulders, gently taking you at armsâ length. âIâm ok,â you tell her, âAll thanks to you.â
Amy Wong
â Gapes and cries out, but shakes herself back into focus very quickly to jump into the nearest ship. Hell, if she has to she'd jump onto her party board and ride to you!
â Decorates your hospital room or at least your bed if they donât let her cover it all in flowers, balloons, streamers, or images of your favorite places.
â âDonât worry, you still look cute in your hospital gown,â Amy teases you with a wink, then falters slightly, âand with that massive bloody tear across your backâŠâ
â Insists you recover on one of her familyâs properties since the Wongs spare no expense on comfort and staff. Youâll have your pick between a swanky hotel, a classic seaside home, or even Amyâs ranch itself if youâre ok dealing with her parents!
â Donât think for a second having staff around means Amyâs going hands-off! They may handle some of the more clinical things like changing bandages or bringing painkillers, but Amy herself is the one helping you bathe and putting her arm around you to help you walk when blood loss has you feeling weak. Only Amy is the one catching you when your heart pounds and legs falter.
â When you're further healed, Amy loves drawing next to or even over your scar gently, turning it from a huge mission wound into something even more beautiful. She also loves tracing her hands over it when you embrace for a hug or kiss.
Hermes Conrad
â Absolutely frantic the moment he receives the call, eyes alternately widening and falling as he runs through scenarios in his head, takes a mental inventory of what he should bring for you.
â Still incredibly polite and cooperative with all the hospital staff, actually answering their questions and signing in properlyâŠthen running to you!
â When the surgeon explains what happened, Hermes will be off to the nearest computer for some obsessive research on your condition. Knowledge is power, after all!
â Due to the research as well as his love for you, Hermes wonât let anyone else touch you beside the doctors or, of course, him. Professionals can handle the big stuff but heâll be by your side changing your bandages or helping you get a drink.
â Medication prescribed? Hermes is on it. Timers set for every instance of administering. Painkillers, antibiotics, you name it and Hermes will insist you take it.
â He acts very stoic for you in the face of your bleeding, wounds, and stitches, but the moment you turn around heâs gaping in horror.
John Zoidberg
â Will shove anyone and anything out of the way to get to you, nothing else matters. âIâm a doctor, I know what the patient needs!â Even if he doesnât, dammit if he wonât pull the doctor card to stay by your side!
â Having a throat wound is a particularly nasty spot, one that is accompanied by a lot of blood going where it shouldnâtâŠand coming back out too. âFascinating! Is that some sort of defense mechanism?â âJohn,â you type on the device the doctors quickly gave you since you couldnât speak with a constant stream of blood running up, âThat was called vomiting blood and we are not supposed to do that.â âOh. âŠOh, god!â
â Leans in trying to look into your throat when the doctor and his team of nurses are numbing you down to pack the wound.
â âDonât forget, itâs time for your spray!â John holds up the remainder of the bottle theyâd used last night in his claw. âOh, the doctor said I donât have to use that, thatâs just extra if Iâm having pain.â âWell, are you in pain?â âWell, I donât feel greatâŠâ âThen let me help you, itâs what I do! Even if I wasnât a doctor, Iâm still your man.â
â âIâm back on soft foods,â you explain at one point, "I can't eat anything that could jeopardize these wounds again." Cue your beloved doctor blending up anything and everything with no regard for the combos. Speaking from experience, you do not want that tuna smoothie he just made you. It's not terrible but you will not finish it.
â "So you're stuck in bed all day?" "M-hm," you nod weakly, "I'll need quite some time to get my strength back after that blood loss." "Hooray!" Misguided as it seems, John's just happy he gets an excuse to climb in bed with you and stay while fulfilling his doctor duties of keeping watch over you.
Kif Kroker
â Blinking back tears and breathing so heavy heâll be inflating like a balloon in the way he does.
â âI would donate my bloodâŠif only I had any!â
â Rushes into your room calling out âmy love!â and immediately reaching for your hand so long as he can take it. If your hands are in a cast heâll just lay his gently atop them. Anything akin to the contact he craves, the reassurance youâre together again.
â Kif is on your care, telling you to rest and sleep off the medication you were given while he writes down your recovery process to a T.
â Alarms are set for reapplication of your bandages, for the product carefully applied over your stitches, and of course for pain meds, all of which are given by Kifâs hand and Kifâs alone.
â Youâll also be offered a few odd Amphibiosan remedies, up to you if you want those or not!
Zapp Brannigan
â Will immediately abandon his post if he has to, sacking Kif with whatever duty heâs on to get to you as fast as space travel gets him.
â Heâs rushing in headlong, pulling rank and fame if anyone tries to question or detain him on the way to you.
â Probably asks if it was a brave sacrifice or it looked cool or some shit đđ€đ» also offers to beat up whoever hurt you if it was someone. And someone not too scary.
â Offers to âkiss your boo booâ, eyebrows shooting up and down, only to recoil when he sees the crimson-soaked bandage wrapping your entire chest. âEugh!â
â You knew it was coming, but he's going to make Kif do all the dirty work đ his second-in-command will be the one cleaning around your stitches and rewrapping you, but ol' Zappster has laying you down in bed, curling gently around you so as not to disturb your wound, and of course massages for you down đ
â "We should see about getting you a medal for that," Zapp tells you in between (many) kisses. If you're not also in the military, you may protest, but does Zapp care? No, you earned it. You're getting a medal.

in sickness and health ( gn!reader )
I had a shitty day with recurring illness and emetophobia today so naturally I'm thinking about Higgs being there for you when your stomach is on the fritz. Obvious warnings for mentions of vomiting and icky feelings, though there're no graphic depictions / descriptions. I KNOW he can materialise bottles of water for you. If he can summon knives and man-made guns and a necklace and can make his mask float without it being attached to his face, he can get you the aqua, whether through teleportation or conjuring. He does it with a flourish of his wrist that makes you smile. It's cool, just like the smile he flashes you. "Small sips now, sweetheart. Don't be greedy." He rubs your back when you can't stop yourself from throwing up anymore. The gentle weight of his palm and the gold armour that lines his fingers with the gloves he's donning tethers you to the earth as you rid yourself of contamination. You'd honestly expected him to be more harsh-- or at the very least passive, he's a busy man-- but he stays with you. Soothes you as best he can, palm drawing gentle circles over your spine as you regain your breath. If you're the type to cry after puking, he's shushing you gently. "C'mon now, darlin', it ain't so bad. That's all the nasty outta you. You did great. Still cute as a goddamn button, too." Higgs enjoys cuddling with you, but he settles for holding your hand when you feel nauseous. It connects you both while not irritating your fluctuating temperature and the need to breathe slowly. Sometimes you can't take any touch at all, and he responds by lying close to you, curled on his side facing you but with a little breathing room between your bodies. Above all, he doesn't want you to puke. He knows how upset it makes you. You don't always want to eat in the aftermath. In fact, you become temporarily terrified of it. He has to coax you into a normal diet again, little by little, until you're sharing pizzas by the dozen again. "I gave you a smaller portion.", "One more bite for me, baby. I know you've got it in ya.", "Show me how good you are at swallowin'." -- all quips made to both support and draw a smile from you. It brings some colour back into your cheeks too, so it's a win-win all round!
Your f/o is always willing to help you out if you're ill. Fever? They'll help you cool off. Need water? Already got some. Feeling genuinely awful? Don't even worry about it. They'll help you through it
Helloooo could we get something cozy about Welt and/or Dan Heng with a sick Reader? Platonic or romantic, doesnât matter. Basically, Reader had a case of stubborn allergies that they didnât realize became a sinus infection until they started having difficulty breathing; and the next thing they know, they came down with bronchitis. Reader usually gets a little more irritated and snappy when they get sick, but this time because of the infection, theyâre so tired they donât even have the energy to get annoyed, even if March and the Trailblazer are making some kind of ruckus outside of Readerâs room. Speaking from experience, it involves a lot of sneezing and coughing, chest pain from even just breathing, and being unable to sleep despite the exhaustion. đ€§ UghâŠ

A/N: Iâm so sorry for what you're going through, Itâs the worst when allergies turn into something worse. That constant coughing, the struggle to catch your breath, and the chest pain make everything feel so exhausting. I know it can be frustrating when you're stuck trying to sleep but canât. Please make sure to rest as much as you can and drink plenty, even if itâs hard. I hope you feel better soon! Youâve got this! đ€§đȘâ€ïžâđ©č
You had been sneezing incessantly for days, your chest tight, your breathing shallow. But it wasnât until your throat felt like it was closing up that you realized the situation had escalated. A persistent sinus infection had spiraled into full-blown bronchitis, leaving you exhausted and vulnerable, unable to muster even a hint of annoyance at the usual noise outside your room.
