Solstice Seer Spell & Yule Ritual Yule and the Winter Solstice make for a powerful time to connect with Spirit and awaken your second sight, especially with this year’s Jupiter Saturn conjunction. What You’ll Need: -something to cleanse your space (smoke cleanse bundle, incense, essential oils, etc.) -a candle (white, blue, red, or green) -a glass candle holder -an elastic band -red, green, or white ribbon -seasonal decorative cuttings (pine, mistletoe, holly, cinnamon, rosemary, etc.) -seasonal essential oils and/or herbs (peppermint, pine, etc.) -red glitter -3-5 crystal chips or small points -a notebook -a pen -a lighter/matchstick 1. Gather your ingredients and set your space however your tradition does so. (If you’re unsure, simply light some frankincense and myrrh incense or burn some dried lavender or rosemary. I like to walk in a circle starting North and call on each Directional Guardian. “Hail to the guardians in the watchtower of the north,” etc. I may additionally call on Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.) 2. As you dress your candle, begin to set your intentions to connect with Spirit, however you define it, spirit guides, ancestors, etc. Imagine star light shining down from the night sky, connecting with your crown, and traveling through your body, activating your energy centers, and finally grounding you to the earth. Imagine that you are protected in this space by pure light. 3. Place the rubber band around your glass candleholder and begin adding the seasonal cuttings. I went with what I had in the yard and my kitchen: cinnamon sticks, pine needles, rosemary, olive branches, and red peppers for color. Add crystal points (if using those on the outside). Tie your ribbon around everything. 4. Sprinkle some seasonal herbs, a drop of seasonal oil, red glitter, and crystal chips (if using those) into your candle. 5. Chant: On this the longest night, I find my inner light, to waken my second sight, thanks to those who shine so bright. This evening I celebrated Yule with my coven and our new cohort of the Art of Ritual class. It was lovely and intimate and deep, and it made me happy to do Yule in my own space this year. As many of you know, Yule is the Winter Solstice. It is such an exciting time as the light starts to come back to us. In these next months food can be scarse and a struggle to come across for our forest companions. Our family enjoys creating abundance blessings for our forest friends. Our Solstice ritual consists of hanging peanut butter covered pinecones rolled in seed, making suet treats for our feathered friends, making orange feeders (jays love oranges), we leave our leftover decorative squash and gourds at the edge of the forest, we hang and lay out dried corn at the edge of the forest as well. These little acts are considered sharing abundance and giving without expectation of receiving. This is good medicine in the Universe. Another Solstice ritual is the lighting of candles on the longest night. It is a sign of hope in the darkness. Here are some frozen candle holders that would be beautiful to illuminate the way home. These are only a couple of many wonderful Yule rituals our family enjoys. I will share more in the coming days.
