Okay, so I don't think I obsessed enough on my main dash for you all to know but @amusewithaview got me hooked on an amazing show
Now. You all should def watch this and I can give all the reasons in another post. But Anna and I were talking about how Erxi deserved a better romance option than she got and my brain went with it.
So, if you've watched it or if you just wanna read random au plot ideas my crack brain came up with, here we go
Erxi winds up interning the next summer at some other tech company, when low and behold, she winds up having to work with Zhenshui Wuxiang/Shaoxiang who is now actually earning his career and starting from the bottom.
It turns into a rivalry because he was a total jerk and some of his old characteristics come out because he’s still feeling guilty over the whole thing with Erxi and embarrassed.
I picture there’s some team outing where they both wind up getting a bit tipsy and he finally apologizes and she gets angry because now she won’t have an excuse to be annoyed with him and that’s very annoying. But it doesn’t matter much anyway, because she’s going back to school for her senior year.
And it’s not until she’s been gone for a while that they both start realizing how much they actually miss the other. Around that time, he starts reaching out more to Weiwei and Nai. Erxi finds out and thinks he’s just up to his old tricks, but in reality, he’s hoping to start working at Zhiyi in order to get closer to Erxi. He winds up starting his own gaming company with the help of Nai and winds up hiring Erxi to work for him without her knowing who he is.
That is, not until her first day of work when she discovers the truth. After a confession on his part, she insists she get the same treatment as anyone else. He assumes she doesn’t care about his feelings and is just worried about her job, so he agrees, hoping to just spend time with her and eventually win her over. But then she laughs, says she’s holding him to it, and tells him she has feelings for him too.
Erxi meets Yugong and HATES him at the start. She’s still a bit bitter over Cao Guang and all of Yugong’s fake bragging and joking comments about finding girl make her feisty.
She actually winds up switching gaming servers to hang out with Weiwei and get away from the memories of Cao Guang.
Since Weiwei is still with Nai and the boys so much, Erxi winds up tagging along with them.
But then Weiwei and Nai get so busy they play less and less often. Hao Mei gets distracted with KO and goes to play their old game more often. Younghou is still around but stays quiet because it’s far more entertaining to see Yugong, oblivious and earning the ire of Erxi left and right.
Eventually, another couple’s championship comes up and Erxi swears she’ll never have another in-game spouse. But she really wants the prize and after getting goaded by Younghou and Hao Mei, she and Yugong decide to just get married in the game and not make a big deal of it. It's just a game, right?
But everyone finds out immediately and starts treating them like a couple in real life, calling her sister-in-law, always pushing them to be together, and especially expecting them to buy the introduction meals and so on.
It gets to be ridiculous when Erxi interns at Zhiyi with Weiwei, so much so that she and Yugong finally just accept it and start acting like spouses since they get hassled so much if they don’t.
They come into work together, leave together, keep tabs on one another. She shares her snacks and helps him with projects. He nags and mother hens her when she gets sick randomly and doesn’t take care of herself.
I’m assuming, that, at max, six months in Yugong totally realizes that he’s in love with her, but he’s not about to bring it up, no matter the hints Nai keeps dropping.
Weiwei finally makes Erxi actually acknowledge it and her feelings for him when she asks if she should be sending two invitations for her wedding (one for each of them) or just a single one to the couple. She winds up confessing to Yugong by telling him at Weiwei and Nai’s wedding she wants to do things differently when they get married.
Yugong chooses not to argue that point, instead he starts picking fights over all the details she talks about.
