I have watched the Chinese tv drama âLove 020âł like 16 times according to my Netflix account and hereâs why:
1) Yang Yangâs jawline
2) Our protagonist is a girl in a STEM field who not only kicks ass in that field, but also kicks everyone elseâs ass in that field
3) The love interest is a video game developer who romances the protagonist through their mutual favorite game
4) Both the love interest and the protagonist have a Squad made up of same-gender friends who are SO SUPPORTIVE holy cow
5) Secret Gay Couple who actually end up living together (itâs a little bit subtextual cause China isnât really about that gay shit yet, but itâs pretty fuckinâ obvious that KO and Hao Mei are in love)
6) Hot Boys Doing Sports
7) Side plots are relevant, engaging, and feel like they add to the romance rather than detract from it
8) the squad of Malicious Girls end up learning a lesson and becoming better people at the end
9) The love interest is really really in love with the protagonist and does everything in his power to love, support, protect, and help her
10) one of the gay boys is Effeminate but Tough while the other gay boy is nicknamed âMr. Girlyâ by his friends but is also the more masculine half of the couple
And yeah, this show has flaws. Itâs from China. They put a lot of stress on traditional gender roles and the idea of âget married, have babyâ but the story as a whole is really great and cool and honestly sometimes I just watch it for the 2 gay boys because theyâre adorable and so fun.
Erxi seems like girlfriend material. *w*
Okay, so I don't think I obsessed enough on my main dash for you all to know but @amusewithaview got me hooked on an amazing show
Love O2O
Now. You all should def watch this and I can give all the reasons in another post. But Anna and I were talking about how Erxi deserved a better romance option than she got and my brain went with it.
So, if you've watched it or if you just wanna read random au plot ideas my crack brain came up with, here we go
1. Erxi/Zhenshui Wuxiang
Erxi winds up interning the next summer at some other tech company, when low and behold, she winds up having to work with Zhenshui Wuxiang/Shaoxiang who is now actually earning his career and starting from the bottom.
It turns into a rivalry because he was a total jerk and some of his old characteristics come out because heâs still feeling guilty over the whole thing with Erxi and embarrassed.
I picture thereâs some team outing where they both wind up getting a bit tipsy and he finally apologizes and she gets angry because now she wonât have an excuse to be annoyed with him and thatâs very annoying. But it doesnât matter much anyway, because sheâs going back to school for her senior year.
And itâs not until sheâs been gone for a while that they both start realizing how much they actually miss the other. Around that time, he starts reaching out more to Weiwei and Nai. Erxi finds out and thinks heâs just up to his old tricks, but in reality, heâs hoping to start working at Zhiyi in order to get closer to Erxi. He winds up starting his own gaming company with the help of Nai and winds up hiring Erxi to work for him without her knowing who he is.
That is, not until her first day of work when she discovers the truth. After a confession on his part, she insists she get the same treatment as anyone else. He assumes she doesnât care about his feelings and is just worried about her job, so he agrees, hoping to just spend time with her and eventually win her over. But then she laughs, says sheâs holding him to it, and tells him she has feelings for him too.
2. Erxi/Yugong Panshan
Erxi meets Yugong and HATES him at the start. Sheâs still a bit bitter over Cao Guang and all of Yugongâs fake bragging and joking comments about finding girl make her feisty.
She actually winds up switching gaming servers to hang out with Weiwei and get away from the memories of Cao Guang.
Since Weiwei is still with Nai and the boys so much, Erxi winds up tagging along with them.
But then Weiwei and Nai get so busy they play less and less often. Hao Mei gets distracted with KO and goes to play their old game more often. Younghou is still around but stays quiet because itâs far more entertaining to see Yugong, oblivious and earning the ire of Erxi left and right.
Eventually, another coupleâs championship comes up and Erxi swears sheâll never have another in-game spouse. But she really wants the prize and after getting goaded by Younghou and Hao Mei, she and Yugong decide to just get married in the game and not make a big deal of it. It's just a game, right?
But everyone finds out immediately and starts treating them like a couple in real life, calling her sister-in-law, always pushing them to be together, and especially expecting them to buy the introduction meals and so on.
It gets to be ridiculous when Erxi interns at Zhiyi with Weiwei, so much so that she and Yugong finally just accept it and start acting like spouses since they get hassled so much if they donât.
They come into work together, leave together, keep tabs on one another. She shares her snacks and helps him with projects. He nags and mother hens her when she gets sick randomly and doesnât take care of herself.
Iâm assuming, that, at max, six months in Yugong totally realizes that heâs in love with her, but heâs not about to bring it up, no matter the hints Nai keeps dropping.
Weiwei finally makes Erxi actually acknowledge it and her feelings for him when she asks if she should be sending two invitations for her wedding (one for each of them) or just a single one to the couple. She winds up confessing to Yugong by telling him at Weiwei and Naiâs wedding she wants to do things differently when they get married.
Yugong chooses not to argue that point, instead he starts picking fights over all the details she talks about.

Weiwei took another sip of her sprite. She hadnât drunk since her fellowship, the need to always been active and present since becoming an attending haunted her. Erxi, her friend and brilliant neurosurgeon, didnât see it as a problem.  She finished her second beer in one full swoop. Â
âIâm not call, give me another!â She cheered, only to have Weiwei shake her head. âWhat they have others on call for a reason.â  She shrugged. âI canât be in the operating room all the time, I would go insane.â Â
âAnd yet you are one of the best in country.â Taking another sip from her straw, Erxi nodged her. She saw the new batch of interns walking into the bar. They didnât seem to see them sitting in the back.  They were close and loud enough to ease drop on what they were saying. Â
âToday was a day.â one of them said.  A female intern, went up to the bar, grabbing a round for every one. âHey did anyone get to see the hot nurse working on general surgery ward?  I heard a couple of doctors talking about her.â One of the young silent ones sighed taking a sip. Â
âAttending.â She corrected. They all looked at her confused. âShe was my attending, I was on her service. Show her some respect.  Doctor Bei worked hard for that job.â Erxi, nodded. Â
âI like that girl.â Â
âTian Sisi. She stumbles a lot with words, and tends to be quiet when I want her to speak. Sheâll learn.â  Weiwei brought the glass up to her mouth, stealing an ice cube to chew on. Â
âStill the boys should know not to talk about attendings in this bar.â Erxi went to stand but Weiwei stopped her. Â
âItâs their first day, let them go.â Another girl came to the table, a blush covering her cheeks. From the looks of it, she had been there a few hours earlier then them. Â
âDid you guys get to see the new Trauma Surgeon from Shanghai?â
âNo, why?â Â
âHes so gorgeous. Itâs such a shame hes a doctor, the face is wasted. He should have been a model.â  Weiwei stood up from her table. The manâs face flashing in her mind, his eyes boring into hers. Â
âWhere are you going?â Erxi asked, standing to follow. Weiwei smiled, finishing her Sprite. Â
âHospital, I forgot to do some paperwork.â Â
âLies, there all lies.â Erxi sat back down taking a sip of her beer. âFine, Iâll just wait for Yu banshan to get off, heâll drink with me.â Â
âCall Mr. Beauty, heâll get here faster.â She joked, walking over to the bartender.  All the interns straightened their backs, eyeing Weiwei as she moved. Turning to pointed towards Sisi.  She saw her, all of them trying to cover their faces in shame. Â
âAny drink she buys for herself, put on my tab for the night. A 4 drink limit though, she has work tomorrow.â  Standing she bowed. Â
âThank you Doctor Bei.â Â
âI expect you to be on my service at 6 AM tomorrow!â She called leaving the bar, a wicked smile on her face. Erxiâs laughter falling her out the door.
