If I please have anything wrong RESPECTFULLY and POLITELY correct me. Some of y'all salty for no reason.
Some of y'all just don't know so I just gotta say it.
When I first discovered yoruba, vodun and santeria I had the dangerous mindset that I could work with any orisha I please. yeah don't be like me you infact can not do this AND it's disrespectful to so many people.
As I have gathered african spirituality is very very different from paganism, wicca or just being a witch. You can't just do as you please there are rules. The orisha chooses you, you don't choose them. And from what I have read, it's recommended to get initiated by a professional and many do but you wish not to initiated you can visit a babalawo (babalawo being a spiritual title that denotes a priest of the ifá oracle) to get help.
But please do your research before considering going yoruba, vodun or santeria. But I know there are many out there who will turn a blind eye to this post so with that said good luck to y'all.

#Ayómide = My joy has come… This is one of my son’s middle names and yes, it is #yourba. For me, this is not just a picture of my son and I having a fun #fatherson moment. This is a reminder that through all of the pain I endured in my past, I am still able to live in the abundance of joy! I did not grow up with my parents. My mom was in and out of my life and my father, from what I have been told was in and out of jail. I never had any contact with him until, I was in my late 20s and it was made very clear that not having him in my life was a great decision (he ended up back in and out of jail after our 1st meeting together. I was raised by my grandparents and I loved them with every fiber of my being. They tried their best, but looking back, I can clearly see that they fell short in a lot of ways, like we all do. I went through layers of trauma and abuse. Yes, I have dealt with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and a multitude of things, but the one thing I held on to was my faith and belief in #GOD. HE did not forget about me! HE heard my prayers and counted every tear I cried. HE granted my heart’s desire and blessed me with my own true #family. One that would erase my pain and replace it with JOY! I will tell you that if you ever felt not seen, if you ever felt like He didn’t hear your cries, if you ever felt out of place, if you ever felt like you were drowning in your pain, if you ever thought you could not have #Happiness and #Joy I am an example that if you can hold on to Him that sticks closer than a brother; joy, peace, and love is truly possible. #Livingexample #LivingmyJoy #HappyFather #Joysofbeingadad #joysoffatherhood #dadgoals #fathergoals #happychild #happyson #blackdadjoy #blackboyjoy #Fatherhoodfraternity#blacksheepsuccess #madeittotheotherside #lightattheendofthetunnel #dontgiveup (at Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0l6pzpBNZH/?igshid=1wltesswj1mct

Pataki of Oshun
Oshun one day was preparing for a party. She gathered her gold, jewelry, and perfumes heading towards the river. She sat down and started to dress her body in the silk and perfuming herself from head to toe. Oshun put on her gold bangles and many jewelries on. Her hair she braided, decorating it with shells and placed her head scarf in a way her style showed. Oshun looked at her beautiful reflection in the water.
Oshun then started walking through the village heading towards the party when she passed a small group of children. They were playing, jumping, and laughing bringing her a smile to her face. She walked passed them and she sprinkled honey on them, making them happier and they bowed to her. Oshun's thoughts were deep with the fact she wanted some youth activity and say down near Iroko, a Cieba tree. She was deep in though and a tear dropped.
Iroko asked her what was happening to her. Oshun told Iroko how much she missed having children around her. He told her that children are truly a gift and Oshun asked Iroko to help her bare children that she could raise. Iroko told that he would help her and her payment was for her to accompany him once in a while. Oshun promised.
