If Lena had already finished her studies but hadn't met Jack, how old do you think she was supposed to be in that flashback? And was that before or after she met Sam? And also knowing she dated Jack for two years before Lex went down and she came to NC. Like, where would you place that flashback?
By visual cues, Lena looks maybe... 21? 22? Narratively, I'm not even going to try placing it within the canon, because it makes zero sense. It contradicts the canon of Lena's relationship with Jack (they shared a start up for 5yrs, and were together for 2 of those years), and the implied longevity of Lex's villainy as described in the trial montage, never mind the timeline as established by the episode "Midvale."But, if we really wanna work to make it fit-- still requiring us to outright ignore the "superman showed up two weeks ago" bit-- there's no guarantee Lena actually left LuthorCorp at the end of that deleted scene. It actually makes more sense that this was the moment Lena realized her brother was going off the rails fast, and remained at LuthorCorp for the sole purpose of gathering evidence against him. In fact, if we want to do some subtle twisting, we could interpret Lex's jab at Spheerical as a sort of "you guys couldn't cure cancer and your bf went running back to his daddy, maybe you should join him" barb. Which would mean Lena and Jack would still be together at that point. And I really like the idea of Lena being mired in this brewing tempest of Lex's insanity, sensing Jack pulling away when she can't share her work with him or explain why she can't join him at Spheerical, and nearing the end of her emotional rope when she passes through the darkened office of a company she's acquiring for LuthorCorp, and seeing a single light on.I love the idea of Lena drowning, and finding a life raft in the woman working just as late as she is. I love the idea of Sam and Lena bonding over the burdens of their unspoken solitudes-- Lena with the decline of her brother, and Sam with her young professional single motherhood. I love the idea of this curly-haired Lena finding an oasis of calm with Sam, and an over-stressed Sam finding a stanchion of unwavering support in Lena.I just-- I'm smitten, okay?
Just an idea that wouldn’t leave me alone, little Lena Luthor and her starter, Bulbasaur. If I have time I do have a few other ideas for other characters and combining two of my favourite universes is always fun :)
I accidentally boiled one of my goldfish when I was seven. I decided they were special enough to deserve hot water and lots of Mr. Matey bubble bath. So, they had a big jacuzzi – and died.
