Post 3rd Playthrough Musings/What I Would Have Liked to See
Some spoilers below...
To get it out of the way first, I do enjoy the game but it just gets to me that certain things feel lacking. Without changing Veilguard completely these are somethings I'd have like to see added:
-Romances don't have the same energy as the other games, I think all of them could do with more random party banter and maybe an additional scene, even just adding actually substance to the gifting scene would add so much more than we got, maybe have them give Rook something too, it would have been nice to see something like Harding fill Rook's room with potted plants.
-Rather than meeting our Inquisitor in the Cobbled Swan I think we should have gone to Skyhold, there is an Eluvian there after all. Maybe an extra meeting or two so we could see the halls get increasingly more crowded with survivors from the south to show us some of the hardship and horror they are going through there. Adding to this I think there should have at least been a world state option for who is the Divine as all candidates would have had different ways of tackling the events and different consequences.
-I would have liked to see something similar to the celebration at the end of DAI, but more of a memorial instead as you have to lose at least one member of the team, Varric, and the countless civilian and faction lives too. Just a quick final talk with everyone, maybe have the Inquisitors LI there so there is something more substantial than a letter for those who didn't romance Solas, a short speech for the fallen and then into the slides from the ending.
From everything I've heard it seems Veilguard was in development hell so at the very least I am thankful for what we do have, and I have definitely gotten my money's worth from it, maybe not as much as the previous games but if they change their minds and add DLC I will happily revisit it in the future.
