i’ve been making myself laugh at this for a while
imagine Dori taking care of Frodo for a bit while taking his measurements for a sweater or smth. Bilbo and Nori are in the next room. Dori’s got Frodo standing in a chair after picking him up at putting him there to take said measurements. “Frodo, what’ve you got in your front pocket, dear?”. He asks as he notices a bump in Frodo’s little coat. The faunt smiles and shows him a piece of paper that was stuck onto the pocket labeled, “friend”. Dori feels his heart melt as he realizes Frodo has a designated pocket for his favorite toy. Probably a wood-carved animal toy from Bofur. “That’s very sweet. Can i see your friend?”….his liquidated heart than hits his stomach as Frodo pulls out a common cave mouse from his pocket. Bilbo and Nori hear a shriek from the room next to them. “That’s Dori. Maybe he stuck himself with a needle or something, we should check.” Bilbo says with worry as he and Nori stand to investigate. They enter the room to find a giggling Frodo, holding a mouse in his hands and a very frightened Dori staying in the corner of the room. “BILBO! Your son had a pocket for rodents!” Nori laughs uncontrollably and teases his older brother for his fear of mice while Bilbo “respectfully” holds back a laugh as he scolds Frodo for bringing small animals inside when he has been told not to before. “Oh, no, that’s no outside animal. They live here, in the kingdom. Mice and rodents alike roam the little cracks and corners of caves.” Bilbo’s eyes widen as does his mouth, speechless. “O-…okay than, uhm…new rule, Frodo. No carrying around animals in general, no matter where you find them.”
