Flufftober Day 29
Nyx tugged the box out of the corner of the top shelf in Cor’s closet, sneezing as a cloud of dust floated over him. “How long has this been here?”
“What?” Cor’s voice echoed from the kitchen.
“I didn’t know I was marrying a hoarder.” Nyx wiped off the box with his hand, grimacing at the layer of dust covering it.
“What are you talking about?” Cor appeared in the doorway, frowning at him.
“This was in the back corner of the closet. I don’t think it’s been touched since you put it there.” Nyx put the box on the floor and kneeled down in front of it.
“Probably not,” Cor conceded.
“Any chance you remember what’s in here?”
Cor shrugged.
“Great, let’s find out.” Nyx smirked and slit open the tape, pulling the cardboard up.
Right there on top, staring back at him, was a scowling teen Cor. He must have been 16 or 17, wearing an old Crownsguard uniform, complete with beret. His arms were crossed, and he was glaring at the camera like it had personally insulted him.
“You were adorable,” Nyx crowed, snatching the picture before Cor could steal it.
“You don’t need to go through those, just pack them back up,” Cor grumbled, squatting next to Nyx.
“I absolutely do,” Nyx shot back. “I can’t miss that opportunity to see what teen Cor was up to.”
He rifled through the box, ignoring Cor’s grumbling. There had to be a couple dozen photos of teenage Cor, half in Crownsguard uniform, half in what passed for civilian clothes according to Cor.
It was nice to see some things hadn’t changed.
Cor ran a hand over his hair. “I must have thrown everything from my barracks into a box and tossed in the closet when I moved in. This is all from before I made Marshal.”
Nyx glanced at the rest of the contents of the box. Some medals, old clothes, a couple of old notebooks were what Nyx could see so far.
Nyx grinned. “I love it. You were really adorable back then.”
Cor scowled at him.
“Not that you’re not adorable now, of course.” Nyx fisted a hand in Cor’s shirt and pulled him into a kiss.
