Dancer is a challenging posture seen often on Instagram. It is a balancing posture plus a back bend. π± The asymmetrical qualities can create disorientation for a beginner. Stand on one leg, keeping a soft bend in the knee. Connect to the grip under the toes. Bend the knee as far as you can without grabbing the foot while bringing the sits bones down and forward and the top of the hips back. Hold onto the inside of the foot and gently kick the foot into the hand. Feel the knee trying to go into extension while flexed, and the hip into flexion while extended. While this is happening, bring the shoulders in line with one another...making sure the shoulder thatβs on the same side of the lifted leg is not behind the shoulder of the free arm. Create space in the front body without compressing the lumbar spine, which will try to take on most of the pressure. We want to open the rigid spots, not the places that are already overly used and naturally flexible. Find the essence of a spinal forward bend in the torso while lifting the collar bone. Breathe normally. Most importantly, stay calm and relaxed! ππ½ππ½βΊοΈ #dancerpose #yogaposes #yogainstruction #yoga #alamedayogapdx #pdx #smallclassesyourpractice #yogatoyoucrew (at Alameda Yoga Studio) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu4EgelAGxm/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qx3af06p2twv
