He is the most famous animator that ever worked on Yu-Gi-Oh! and for a good reason. He has been around from the very first episode, until he left in Season 5, only doing the Opening. He draws every character in a beautiful and unique way, making every episode a pleasurable experience. His thick outlines in line-art and amazing shading is most outstanding. As a matter of fact, he is one of the two animators that sometimes uses three layers of shading. He's mostly known and recognized for his well-rounded and long fingers (and fingernails). Every scene is just so dramatic and I love it! He also makes the character's eyes really wide, which I adore, but that only applies for his work in Yu-Gi-Oh!. His style improved the more he worked on the series. From the first episode to the Duel between Mai and Marik, his style was very much different. In the beginning, he used to make Yami's hair, for example, smaller and in generally, every character less dramatic. Lastly, his point of view is amazing and really make him stand out.

I dont know much about Shinsuke Terasawa to be honest. His style is actually decent, though it lacks fluidity or intensity. His two episodes as an AD are actually very different from one another when it comes to the key animators but the drawing style itself.

Today I'm going to talk about why Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters was so inconsistent when it came to its animation. Most anime, even at that time, stuck to one style and didn't change in every episode. Well this happens so frequently in Yu-Gi-Oh! because there was no Chief Animation Director. What is that you ask?

Well, according to Sakuga, a Chief AD is an overall credit that tends to be in the hands of the character designer. Their job is to ensure the characters look like they’re supposed to. Moreso than the regular animation directors, their job is to ensure the characters look like they’re supposed to. Consistency is their goal, which they will enforce as much as they want (and can). As you can understand, the existence of a Chief Animation Director is rather important for the visual consistency of the entire show. Without one, the individual ADs had too much of an influence on the character design.

He is one of my favorite animators, if not my favourite after Kagami. He's so close to Kagami in his way.

He makes amazing hands as well, but no match for Kagami's god-like ones.

While his Yami ain't as good as Kagami's, I think the way he draws Seto rivals that of Kagami.

Now, I personally dont like the way he draws Yugi. He makes his eyes way too big, like an owl. Don't get me wrong. I don't think it's bad, just not as good as his other characters.

He has worked as an AD, most of the times, along with Kagami, giving us incredibly well-animated episodes, like my favourite. (177)

He's also is the one who does those intense defeats (Bakura pic.) which I always thought was Kagami. Such scenes are: Jounouchi's defeat by Ra and Marik's defeat by Obelisk.

Aki Tsunaki is one of the best animators in DM. Her style's not so bad. Relative to a lot of other animators on DM, her work is actually pretty good. The character animation and layouts are a little on the safe side and not as dynamic as Kagami's. But rather safe than an off-model mess that looks like Yami's face is melting off. (Inoue)

Kagami, for me, needs no introduction. He is the best of the best when it comes to character design and animation. What really makes his style stand out is that all movements are really dynamic and "dramatic". His perspectives are really unique. He adds that really thick and nice-looking line art.
