I’ve been busy on my hiatus from @ikroah​.

As you may or may not already know, @yesjejunus​ is reuploading his novel-length Fallout: New Vegas/Fallout 4 fanfic Learnin’ the Blues” to AO3 starting today, with one chapter per day until it’s done. Before you go scurrying off to read along, let me advise you to take the content warnings very seriously. It’s an excellent, touching, meaningful story but at parts it’s very graphic, intense, and harrowing. It might not be for you if that sentence alone makes your hackles raise. Also if you are interested and haven’t read it yet, well, sorry for the spoiler (but you should still read it! It’s good!).

Anyway, speaking of meaning, the reason for this comic is that long before he even decided to reupload the story, he came to me with a request: to adapt this particular scene from Learnin’ the Blues into a comic (this actually wouldn’t even be the first time I’ve done this, but that first time was of my own volition). This scene is profoundly important to the story and to him, and it was sincerely an honor to be trusted, to be specifically trusted as both an artist and a friend, with handling it. Besides, he’s done art for a scene in my story that means a lot to me before, so of course I wanted to return the favor. I’m very proud of my work—our work—and of calling him my friend.

Anyway, as an added bonus, here’s some practice sketches of Joan for the scene. She’s actually really difficult to draw, given how extreme her proportions are. She risks looking overly stylized next to everyone else unless you get them just right. But of course, that distinct appearance is part of why I like her so much.
