Yeongno - 영노

For those of you unaware, the Yeongno (said like "yung-no", with "yung" rhyming with "young" and the "no" being like the actual word "no") is a dragon-like monster from Talchum (Korean mask dance) that eats corrupt, wealthy aristocrats, and in some plays, if it eats 100 of them, it ascends to Heaven. In this case, Link here is a Yeongno, as you can tell - not from a curse, not from an item, that's just her face.

In the land of Hyrule, several dark forces descended upon it, causing chaos wherever they stood. They did not do this for the sake of causing chaos, but for serving their dark lord, Ganon, who was attempting to reach the Sacred Realm. If nothing was done to stop these forces or their commander, everything would fall into ruin. That is why the Golden Goddesses called upon a young Yeongno named Link; they knew that a Yeongno's task was typically to eat the corrupt yangban and then go to the Sacred Realm, but they also knew that this particular one held the Hero's Spirit. They asked her to defeat the dark forces plaguing the Surface, promising that she would be able to go to the Sacred Realm after this task was done.

Link accepted this task, and she came to Hyrule, making sure to focus on the task at hand. Many people mistook her for an aggressive monster, but mainly just ran away. Link wasn't surprised; she didn't look Hylian in the slightest, after all. She would later meet Princess Zelda, who recognized that she was sent by the Goddesses, and resolved to aid her in her quest. With Zelda's help, Link would defeat the dark forces and eventually went toe-to-toe against Ganon, coming out on top in the end.

Very soon after Ganon fell to Link, the Golden Goddesses appeared, congratulating Link on a job well done and inviting her to the Sacred Realm, just as they promised. However, Link had grown accustomed to eating Hylian food and had grown fond of the Surface and her new friend. So is it any wonder that Link told the Goddesses that she wanted to stay? The Goddesses understood this choice, and they allowed her to stay in Hyrule, although making sure she knew that there was always room in the Sacred Realm for her, should she change her mind.
