TW PANIC ATTACKS
"I can't-" Leo's chest was heaving like he'd run a marathon but hardly any air could be heard moving through his lungs. "C-can't fu- b-brea-the-!"
"You can, Leonardo," Splinter was soothing, familiar, but panic was making his old hands shake. The grip his eldest had on his robe was so tight he could hear the fibers creaking from strain. "My son, please."
Leo hiccuped, shook his head, turning more pale by the second. His eyes were terrified. Screaming silently for help-
"Da-d-" wheezed through a throat clamped tightly shut. "P-pl-ease-"
"Breathe with me." Splinter's old paw curled around his son's shaking hand, trying to ground him so he'd stop trying to rip the plastron from his own chest. Leo keened. "Follow my lead."
.
Waking up out of a dead sleep to find that you can't fucking breathe is never fun. Leo has been blessed with night terrors and sleep paralysis.. This is "go get dad" level.
It doesn't matter how old he gets, or how much larger he is than Splinter. After an attack like this, all Leo wants is to curl up into his lap.

Cam and her indigenous identity are so nuanced. One moment that made me literally tear up was when she made herself look down at the cigarette burn on Reenas forehead. The others had talked about the violence and how horrible it was, lot of rage, how could anyone do this to this poor little girl...but when Cam had a moment alone with the body. Her face said so much. She knows this is hate. Even though they are different culturally--there is a kinship in the way Cam gazes at her. And it fucking breaks my heart.
This is so real!! I won't lie at first I was worried it was going to be a token POC kind of deal with Cam as an indigenous cop, but they've been doing really well with her character and development. Also this is definitely major already, but I really am interested in the juxtaposition of Cam and Rebecca's views on the murder; Cam thinks its repulsive and relates to the othering and hatred and racism toward this little indian girl thats been murdered for trying to fit in, while Rebecca takes a morbid curiosity with the girls who actually perpetrated it. and i KNOW this is going to lead to a conflict and I will eat it up like a seven course meal.
soon i'll come around / lost and never found waiting for my words / seen but never heard buried underground / but i'll keep coming
