Me to this season 🤣

As I said in the first picture, this post is unecessarely negative. After all, it's a dinosaur show and I'm pretty sure the season looked spectacular and was a success in more than one aspect. And the writers didn't commit any crime, and I'm no one to tell anyone how to write their stories (or I would be hypocritical, because it's the one thing I criticize the most).

Also, when I'm talking about Ben, I'm not talking about the character Ben, I'm talking about his role in the story. The injury storyline might have been emotional, poignant, beautiful in a lot of ways, but it was still a distraction. And in that case it was a distraction from Brooklynn’s story.

This is just petty ranting because I loved this show, I loved Kenji and Brooklynn, and I loved Brooklynn. But when I saw the story of season 4 and the epilogue, I just couldn't recognize the characters, it almost felt uncanny.

I used to be the biggest romantic Dinostar hater but I'm being honest when I say that I would have 100% prefered it if they had made their relationship canon over the ending they were given. Or if they had really commited to Darius being aro-ace, anything but what we were given. I still find the "in-laws" implications disgusting (especially when the in-laws canonically are into each other a week after the breakup), but without taking this into consideration. Their bond is just so confusing. We don't know for sure what Darius feels for her, even he doesn't. We never knew what Brooklynn felt, when she felt it, what caused her to feel it. I don’t know but I think that when you’re in love with someone, your every cells are in love with the person, you’re in love with them. But both Darius and Brooklynn seem just… confused. To me whatever their bond is at the end is a lot weaker than what they used to have. At least when they were platonic soulmates their love was absolute and unquestionable. But now it’s… whatever it is.

Now, this is about the Nublar 6 as a whole this season and in the epilogue. Their bonds felt artificial to me, unlike how it felt at the end of Camp Cretaceous. Because the storytelling failed to make me believe in it, because most of it didn't make sense. Now that I think about it I think the only relationship I found believable and that Chaos Theory upgraded in a way that flew right from start to finish in my eyes was Ben and Yazmina's.

That being said, maybe in the future I will learn to appreciate this season/the overall show, never say never. I HEAVILY doubt it. But I hope lol. Because I really want to like it, because I really loved these characters.

It's late afternoon and the nublar six decide on a campsite area, and they've carried up a triage of tents. Lloyd's joining them shortly, and hopefully he'll bring snacks. Sure enough as night falls, he arrives with an assortment, with some for bumpy and smoothie, the whole dino pets. As there are three tents, yaz and sammy share one. Ben and kenji in another with darius, brooklynn and Lloyd in the last one. But first, the campfire with marshmallows, and each of the camp fam tell a story about what happened between cc and ct.

Yaz goes first: since her ankle never truly healed, she had to awkwardly explain that she couldn't be a trackstar anymore, instead focusing on coaching instead. Sammy was very supportive. When the dinos arrived, her ptsd led to therapy sessions and eventual relocation to that quiet pocket of land.

Sammy talks about the ranch, and the conversation she had with her parents after they were mad and relieved that Sammy went there and was OK, save it be a few scars. After hiding bumpy in the barn, her family moved away as the dinos invaded the land, scared bumpy would attack them. It was mainly her, alone.

Ben talks about college and bumpy. One day, Ben was asked in college to lecture about dinosaurs, which Gia was in the crowd and shortly after had a drink, a date, then she moved back to Italy to support her grandma.

Kenji talks about how he handled the kon legacy and how he opened rock climbing to help people, and distance from the family brand. He misses his mother and shows an old family photo before crying and Ben supporting him.

Darius talks about how he's changed, why he wanted to protect the dinosaurs and realising that no one can really control them, especially the DPW. Kenji was a fantastic roommate.

Lloyd's story is of friendship pre camp. We know already that he visited frequently when she was an orphan, helped with the brooklander videos and the whole year spent pre camp because of the demon headmaster. He actually says that only two people knew he was with her, visitor and 'mama' who's seen as a kind friend that was a mother away from home for others. He mentions some gameshows, including funny ones like that cannibal cbbc one that the O.A overreacted on, or facing the losers punishment together. He recommends Darius to try it one day to further their bond. Because of brooklynn's secrets and regrets, she breaks down and retreats to her tent early. This makes Yaz hide something she slowly brought to faint view.

Inside the tent, brooklynn's still breaking down when Darius enters to pull out a TV player, believing Lloyd can help with her sorrow of action. His plan? He's got a few old tapes that may cheer her up. First though, Darius would have to soothe her, with a warm embrace and open ears. Brooklynn tells her dedication to unravel the world and the dinosaurs, and taking Lloyd's mission when he couldn't after saving reality: if only Ben knew not to cheer, Lloyd used about all he had to give the zero point to reform the fortnite island and she accepted the extra missions he'd have to help him. Then the whole, "your arm should've been okay, but the herald caused a temporary screw up, making you an amputee. At least you transitioned blood types during the blood loss."

As she finally leaves with Darius embracing her, Yaz decides after kenji noticed a box in her pocket to bring it out. Then came those words "Sammy, we faced dinosaurs, mad people and survived a temporary breakup. If that's not dedication to spending my young adult years with you, I don't know what is. Sammy, would you be my engaged Girlfriend?" Sammy says yes in a warm hug towards Yaz and everyone happy, even the dinos. Lloyd's put in the old tapes, and they all relax and watch as Lloyd and brooklynn faced keep your enemies close, and the Geneva rulebreaker that was the tri-slimer, making kenji wince. Some others before he revealed that he has the only recording of a school of silence episode with them, Lee and 'mama', a unique thing in itself. First a gross class and wet toilet paper. Then some random BS that caused Darius to doze off in brooklynn's lap temporary before the scientist finale. Strapped into a chair that rocks, puppet gunk barf from above and a puppet who should become a friendly clown. Lloyd and brooklynn talk about 'mama' and about her determination to not make a sound. A stubborn friend, but very gifted. Whilst the others had uniform, mostly, she was in lab gear herself. In essence they agree that her being silent is the greatest insult to a barfing puppet scientist. Shame no-one saw it, the episode was shelved in Lloyd's possession due to a disagreement on whether S1's ending test was a disguised F word or not, with cancellation conveniently lining up well- something visitor denies any involvement in to this day. It's a good watch.

As they all prepare for the sleep part of camping, brooklynn decides that she should update her old fans on her life. She talks about her jurassic experience more in depth, her investigations, her missing limb and girlfriend status to darius who hugs her as she's saying this. Lloyd follows up, revealing he helped behing the scenes and his life. Even his powers. One final image with everybody, including the dinos as they go to sleep...
