i know that Yaz is like a mentally strong person in Chaos Theory but I just wonder how much of the treatment she's gained from the Nublar Six actually shows her vulnerability?

Because I know she was like the "group therapist" for everyone else but a part of me was kind of like, was Yaz being the ONLY ONE that actually went to freaking therapy was now the bucket for everyone to unload all their emotions and grief too? I mean season 2 was a teensy bit rough on her for that. 😅 (I didn't see her get a break sheesh!) And season 4 too, she stayed so strong for Ben and everyone until she just couldn't anymore... 😭)

*not just Sammy, the poor girl needed to let that out to Yaz and Darius I guess is more quiet about it I guess? I mean he was just really worried for Kenji's behavior so it is valid*

Idk, it's been stuck in my head for like days now. I think I have trouble comprehending what I MEAN in this sense without trying to be vague ya know??

But like yeah, that's my thoughts.

they've probably had sex a handful of times. maybe more than a handful.

they're each others best friend. no expectations, no romance, no jealousy.

darius probably wing mans for brooklynn when they go out and she's in the mood for a hook up.

there's probably been a number of times when they're somewhere holding hands and brooklynn sees a hot girl and drops his hand and goes "dude, she's gonna think we're dating!"

brooklynn being an honorary member of the bowman family. darius' mom treating her like a daughter. calling her a daughter too.

darius being brooklynn's dads' absolute favorite guy on earth.

them never getting married, not even for tax purposes, and loving when people are confused.

Darius and scoliosis (projecting bc I also have scoliosis)

• Very mild idiopathic thoriac scoliosis (most common type) with a slight S curve

• Didn't need bracing or surgery but he does have to be careful with how he stretches and lifts things

• The autism and Scoliosis combo makes his prioperception (the spatial awareness sense) SHIT/lh

*I'm not headcanoning him with back braces or a fusion to be merciful, they are sensory hell. The hard plastic, the scratchy velcro, the metal hinges that dig into your skin no matter how much padding they add, he never would've worn it. Also he wouldn't have been able to move how he did in CC and CT with a fused spine, it greatly limits your back mobility and he would've been in crippling pain or damaged something internally

Darius disabilities in general

• Suprisingly physically healthy but is Level 1 autistic

• Went undiagnosed his entire life until he got back from BioSyn (I headcanon they all had to get court-ordered therapy to cope and keep things under wraps)

• His parents tried to get him diagnosed but because he wasn't a nonverbal little white boy doctors didn't do anything. His parents accomadated for him though (shameless fic promo)

• His main issues are sensory avoidance and socializing. If he's not around camp fam or his family he masks so his stimming, gesticulating (ty EP for introducing me to this term) and shutdowns aren't seen as threatening (yay racism.) His special interest is dinosaurs and he struggles with work and school because if its not related to his special interest he can't focus

Kenji:

• Hypermobile (again stealing your headcanon) but not officially diagnosed with anything. Occasionally gets pain from subluxing or overworking his joints but he pushes through it

• Prone to overuse injuries from rock climbing and CC/CT activities. Big fan of the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Elevation, Compression)

• Doesn't consider himself disabled, especially compared to Ben

Sammy:

• Likely has some type of gut motility/abdominal issue from the Scorpius venom but I'm not educated enough on GI disorders to make a proper headcanon. Definitely a tummy ache warrior though

• I imagine she'd take a more natural approach to medicine but still goes to the doctor to make sure her teas and walks and diet are actually working

Yaz:

• Chronic pain from her ankle not healing properly and overuse injuries in her legs from track

• Also doesn't consider herself disabled but because she has internalized ableism

• Sammy had to beg her to use a cane or ankle brace or something

• Is the biggest disability ally for everyone except herself. Whenever her friends need a second opinion she looks up their symptoms WITHOUT USING AI

Ben:

• Survived sepsis and a heart attack post-thagomizing (crazy how that was auto suggested my keyboard knows I love angst)

• Has a pacemaker and had bowel resection surgery and other abdominal repairs

• Can walk but his core is pretty weak so he uses a custom wheelchair most of the time. Uses forearm crutches and a cane when he can bear standing/wants to stand for longer periods of time

• Has a service dog named Mango! She does cardiac alerts

• 🍃 for recreational and medicinal purposes (spaced out so his meds don't interact)

• Takes beta blockers, pain meds and anti-anxiety meds. Plus supplements for fiber and immune support Maybe others too but I'm not too educated on that

• Has a sensitive GI tract because of all the surgeries, has to watch his fiber intake

• Prefers to educate others on his disabilities but will get mean if someone touches his or his friends disability aids (shameless fic promo x2)

Brooklyn (tw medical neglect)

• Considers herself disabled but doesn't use the c slur

• Gets bad phantom pain in her limb, prefers wearing her prosthesis

• Random headcanon just came to me, her immune system is pretty weak. I imagine she would get sick as a kid and because of filming didn't always get the proper medical care or time to rest so her immune system never fully recovered

best character design.... honestly it's way easier to pinpoint the designs i don't like because there's very few i actually dislike, but if i had to pick I'd say jwct darius. i remember when the first teaser dropped and his new look raised my expectations for the show by hundreds. mae is another one that comes to mind, and idk if it counts but i really liked what the show did with kenji's outfits in s5 as the relationship with his dad changed.
