+ some art to follow with it since I forgot I had these lol
Some additional notes that I forgot to add here, I imagine that whenever Yamato doesnât drink enough water, the wood he creates will come out a bit cracked, just the shell though! Donât worry, itâs still tough to break! Yamatos wood doppelgĂ€ngers will ALSO have cracked areas on their bodies too if heâs dehydrated, so in a way, take a look at his hands to see if theyâre cracked or not!
For the whole flower thing, it was originally for a silly idea I had for whenever I draw him, though in execution can be very impractical. So instead, he can CHOOSE to grow flowers or not, just out of fun lol
Heâs recovered physically, but has he recovered emotionally? /ref
Also, yes the wood âspikesâ out of his body at times, and when I say âout of his bodyâ I mean from his skin, donât worry heâs not DYING-
plus additional oc x canon heh
Fun fact, he grows flowers under certain emotions⊠heâs such a plant my gof
oh and bonus, I like to think that during his ANBU days, Kakashi would pour water on him for fun because heâs âtending to his garden.â Itâs a joke he pulls, probably still in his adulthood, and it gets Yamato, EVERYTIME.

"How long has it been.. As the decay of time persists on it's course of perpetual motion, those memories never seem to fade. Perhaps they're never meant too, the burden I am destined to shoulder without impunity." The elders golden gaze fixated sickly upon the murky horizon before him. Silence paradoxically filled the void screaming into the warriors, weathered soul. The water froze against the ash like sand off of the shore, a grim reminder that no matter how much time had passed outside of the realm nothing could ever change within the void of darkness. He could do nothing more but sit upon that ever familiar rock and reflect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sun shined brightly upon the barbaric world of Sadala, it's beauty a stark contrast of those that reside on the Crimson Celestial Body. It's Ray's reflecting through the treeline of the forest where the 2 younger boys with Tails continued their sparring session. Their movements graceful as they were basic, both combatants floating just above the water as they traded blows with one another. Okara's gaze fixated upon his opponent, lunging in with a swift overhand right; the other boy easily repelling the laboured blows of the Saiyajin before returning with his own that easily pierced the boys sloppy defence, propelling him into the water below. The area around them fell to an eerie silence as the victorious Saiyajin observed the water with concern for his friend, air bubbles rippling against the water until Okara erupted from below the depths gasping for air.
The concern of the boy quickly melted into laughter at the sight of the fish nestled into the Saiyajins ever upright hair.
Okara: "Quit laughing Yamosh!" He roared, the embarrassment plastered upon his growing rosy cheeks quickly removing the floundering fish launching it into the face of his friend. The elder boy slapping the fish back into the water as he laid down on the meadows with a grin.
Yamoshi: "You're too emotional Okara, haha! It blends into your attacks, you gotta lighten up!"
Okara: "Yeah well, if I wanted your advice I'd ask for it!" Wringing his tail the water fell back into the lake, Okara joining Yamoshi on the grassland. The two boys gazing up at the violet clouds floating across the sky "Tomorrow's the day huh..."
Yamoshi: "Yep! Our final exam, when we pass this we'll finally be recruited into the King's Army! You're as pumped as I am right?!"
Okara: The younger one thought about it for a moment, part of him was most definitely. Yet, he couldn't help but notice the hint of apprehension clumping towards the back of his throat. The doubts increasing the closer the time came. "I guess... You sure you're not nervous?" His gaze averted to his friend, the expression on his face was the one he came to expect... Blissful ignorance.
Yamoshi: "Nervous?! No way!" The warrior exclaimed as he punched his friend in the arm, much to the latters annoyance. "Me and my best friend serving the king! Training to become the strongest of Sadala! What more can I ever ask for?"
"We were friends for as long as I could recall and throughout that time Yamoshi never changed. Simple in many regards but his demeanour, one of reassurance and belief is what I envied about him the most. The quality that was missing which he possessed in spades, the lack of self-doubt. He was the one person I could rely upon, not just as friends... A brother. That didn't change once we graduated and officially became the proud warriors we were destined to be. Pride in our abilities, and in our loyalty to the king... But overtime the colourful nativity of youth corroded away, and the malevolence of the royalty we pledged to serve reared it's ugly head. For the first time in our brotherhood, our convictions diverged."
I wanted to ask in case this is yet another DB wiki screw-up: Did Toriyama confirm that the OG Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God were both Yamoshi, or are they different people? Because DB Wiki seems to insist on the latter.
It would appear they were stated to be the same person.
I do find it rather interesting that Vegeta and his line would have some sort of fascination with the form though given it was originally used against their ancestors in a civil war.
Also worth noting that this explanation came in the same interview as the S-Cells, so Yamoshi being the first while also not being evil would track with that.
ALSO also, it makes you wonder if the Universe 6 Saiyans ever faced a similar conflict, but the good one won out? Like was that their point of evolutionary divergence? It's interesting to think about.
So I got this response to my liveblog of DBS Episode 37, where I floated the idea that the Saiyans of Universe 6 represent a scenario where the âgoodâ Saiyans defeated the âevilâ Saiyans in ancient times. And because of that outcome, there were never any Super Saiyans in Universe 6, because their version of Yamoshi never became a martyr and never inspired the legends of Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan God.Â
My (fuzzy) understanding of this business was that Toriyama identified the original Super Saiyan God as a Saiyan named âYamoshiâ, and stated that Yamoshi also became the first Super Saiyan as well. I thought there was something about how his spirit haunts the Saiyan race, causing other Saiyans to go Super Saiyan every thousand years.  My point was that none of this must have happened in Universe 6, since Cabba has never heard of Super Saiyans until he sees Goku and Vegeta use the form.Â
To this, @iamthenight2001â replied: âYouâve got the Yamoshi thing backward - he never went God himself, he just went Super Saiyan after his five comrades died, then his spirit is what triggers the God transformation when the ritual is used.â
And at first glance, this seemed... wrong? But thereâs so many different interpretations of the Yamoshi concept that I wanted to do some fact-checking before I responded. And thereâs a lot of primary sources to look at, since there were three different versions of the Battle of Gods story, plus the interview where Toriyama described Yamoshi. So it seemed like this would be a good reason to just put everything together in one post for easy comparison. Letâs see if we can get to the bottom of this.
1. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (2013)
Letâs start with the movie, which introduced the Super Saiyan God as a concept. I feel like Iâve gone over the plot of this thing a dozen times, but the short version is that Beerus has a premonition of a worthy opponent called a âSuper Saiyan Godâ, and he spends the whole movie trying to find one, or provoke Goku or Vegeta into becoming one. Instead, Goku uses the Dragon Balls to ask Shenron for more information, and Shenron explains that the SSG is a transformation achieved through a ritual.Â
In the movie, Shenron says:
"A Super Saiyan God is a savior, created by chance by a handful of righteous Saiyans, who long ago questioned the evil acts of their fellow Saiyans, and led a revolt against them. Â This savior had immense power, and dispatched the evil Saiyans in no time at all, but shortly thereafter, they returned to normal, with their power apparently used up.
"Once again, Planet Vegeta became a world of evil Saiyans, and the savior was also eliminated from their legends. Â This vanished legend goes... "'five Saiyans who possess righteous hearts join hands, and by instilling light into another righteous Saiyan, they will become a Saiyan god.'"
------------------------------------
2. Dragon Ball Super Episode 9 (2015)
This is just a retelling of the movie scene, but in this version Shenron doesnât go into nearly as much detail. He only explains how to make a Super Saiyan God, without discussing the tale of the Saiyan who first used the ritual.Â
âThe Namekian Book of Legends states the following: âWhen five Saiyans of righteous hearts join hands and pour their spirits into another righteous Saiyan, he shall become the God of Saiyans.â In other words, a Super Saiyan God.â
-----------------------------------
3. Dragon Ball Super manga, chapter 4 (2015)
Nothing much here, as this scene only gets one panel. Shenron explains what a Super Saiyan God is and how to make one, but thatâs it.Â
In this interview, Toriyama answers various questions about the Saiyans. You can read the whole thing by clicking the link above, but I want to focus on the parts about Super Saiyans and the Super Saiyan God.
Q: Can anyone become a Super Saiyan if they train?
A: Itâs not like anyone can become a Super Saiyan through training and anger. In order to become a Super Saiyan, oneâs body must contain something called âS-Cellsâ. Once these S-Cells reach a certain amount, a trigger such as anger will explosively increase the S-Cells and cause a change in the body; thatâs Super Saiyan. Most Saiyans have some S-Cells, although not a great quantity. The reason why Goku and Vegetaâs children can become Super Saiyan relatively easily is probably because to a certain extent they inherited a lot of S-Cells, and also because Earthâs environment is gentler and easier to live in than Planet Vegeta.
Q: And how does one increase S-Cells to become Super Saiyan?
A: Having a gentle spirit is the best way to greatly increase oneâs S-Cells, but most Saiyans have trouble with this, which I think is why no Super Saiyans appeared for such a long time that they became the stuff of legend. However, one canât reach the quantity necessary for becoming a Super Saiyan simply by having a gentle spirit, so a certain amount of battle power is indeed necessary. Looked at in this light, itâs easy to see why becoming a Super Saiyan came easy for Goku.
Q: Was the âlegendary Super Saiyanâ Freeza feared the Super Saiyan God that appeared in Battle of Gods?
A: In a certain sense, they are the same person. That is to say, very long ago, before Planet Vegeta was the Saiyansâ planet, there was a man named Yamoshi who had a righteous heart despite being a Saiyan. He and his five comrades started a rebellion, but he was cornered by combatants and became a Super Saiyan for the first time, though his transformation and fearsome fighting style shocked the other Saiyans. Outnumbered, Yamoshi eventually wore himself out and was defeated, but this was only the beginning of his legend. Afterwards, Yamoshiâs spirit wandered in continuous search of six righteous-hearted Saiyans, seeking a new savior: Super Saiyan God.
So the 2017 interview is probably what iamthenight2001 was referring to.  According to Toriyamaâs response here, Yamoshi was a Super Saiyan (though not explicitly the first), who fought evil Saiyans but was defeated. His spirit searches for six righteous Saiyans presumably because that would resemble his own team of six rebels. I guess the implication is that when he finds six righteous Saiyans, he âblessesâ them by allowing one of their number to become a Super Saiyan God.Â
But that doesnât fit with what Shenron said in the movie. Letâs go over that part again.
âA Super Saiyan God is a savior, created by chance by a handful of righteous Saiyans, who long ago questioned the evil acts of their fellow Saiyans, and led a revolt against them. Â This savior had immense power, and dispatched the evil Saiyans in no time at all, but shortly thereafter, they returned to normal, with their power apparently used up.â
Shenron speaks of the Righteous Six as having created their own savior by chance. The implication is that they invented the ritual, and turned their leader, Yamoshi, into a Super Saiyan God. And Yamoshi made good use of the new power, but then reverted to normal, which is what happens to Goku in the movie.
I donât object to Yamoshi being both a Super Saiyan and a Super Saiyan God. It actually makes a lot of sense that he was a Super Saiyan first. He must have needed more power than he could muster in that form, which lead him to discovering the ritual.  And it also explains the name. If Yamoshi had already made a name for himself as a Super Saiyan, then what would they call his even stronger form? âSuper Saiyan Godâ fits the bill.Â
But I canât buy into Yamoshi just being an ancient Super Saiyan who merely inspired the ritual. The problem is that this doesnât add up, because it means some other band of righteous Saiyans would have to discover the ritual and make a Super Saiyan God for the first time. Which wouldnât be a big deal, except thatâs not what Shenron said in the movie. He said a Super Saiyan God was a savior created by six righteous Saiyans who rebelled against evil. And after their savior was defeated, the evil Saiyans flourished and suppressed the tale. No one else would have come along later to invent the ritual. And even if there had been a group like that, then Shenron would have said so, because he was explaining how the ritual originated. He would have talked about that group, instead of the group who inspired them.Â
I donât want to disrespect Toriyama or the people who translated the interview, but his answer just doesnât gel with the dialogue in the film, which presumably was also supplied by Toriyama. This would be like Herman Melville doing an interview where he says Moby Dick is a giant squid. Itâs not about whether heâs right or wrong, itâs about the fact that he wrote a whole book that states that Moby Dick is a whale. Past a point, not even the author can contradict the text.Â
Nonetheless, Iâll admit that this is all open to fan interpretation. The way I see it, the guy doesnât have to be named Yamoshi. Until they actually put the character in a comic or animation, heâs just a name Toriyama made up on the spot. But itâs handy to have something to call the guy.Â
And if you like the version in the interview better, I canât fault you for that. Maybe Shenron got the details mixed up. Itâs an ancient, forgotten story, and just because Shenron knows the story doesnât mean the version he knows is completely accurate, or even literal.
I guess I just made up the part where I thought Yamoshiâs ghost communes with Legendary Super Saiyans. That sounds like somethng I would have come up with, honestly, but I was pretty sure I read that in the interview. Oh well.Â
And of course, the Dragon Ball Wiki has thoroughly convinced itself that Yamoshi is the Golden Ape Vegeta imagined in Dragon Ball Z Episode 66. I wouldnât object to this either, except it doesnât make sense, because that would mean there was only one Super Saiyan before Goku, which means thereâs no way for anyone to believe that a new one would arise every thousand years. But the DB Wiki still lists Yamoshiâs first appearance in the anime as DBZ Episode 66.  Well, they can believe what they want to believe.Â

How Was YAMOSHI The First SUPER SAIYAN As Well As The First SUPER SAIYAN GOD?
There is no concrete explanation yet. So, here's my explanation based off of what we are shown and told from the series and from an interview...
We are shown & told in Battle of Gods that Yamoshi was the Super Saiyan God of forgotten legend.
Then, in an interview from Toriyama, he says that Yamoshi was also the first legendary Super Saiyan.
To try to piece what we are shown and what we are told together, here's what I got...
During the rebellion against the evil Saiyans, Yamoshi together with the help of 5 righteous hearted Saiyans was able to become a Super Saiyan God. He fought until the power ran out rather quickly. Then, he was cornered, Yamoshi was able to turn into a Super Saiyan and he fought viciously against the evil Saiyans until he burned through his power and exhausted himself. Then, Yamoshi was killed by the evil Saiyans.
His soul drifted and he was in search of 5 good hearted Saiyans. Meanwhile, the Namekians communed with him and wrote his story down in The Namekian Book of Legends.
Beerus later felt Yamoshi's presence while asleep and had a dream regarding the Super Saiyan god. Then when destroying a planet, the memory resurfaced.
(How to explain the future timeline? Since there were no good Saiyans, it was just a prophecy that didn't come true. Afterall, prophecy is just a prediction that is likely to come true. Doesnt mean it will always come true. And it doesn't always come true in a manner that people expect.)
Good morning yâall. Do yâall think their could be a connection between the first super saiyan god (Yamoshi) and Vegeta? Could Vegeta be his descendant? Comment below with your answers.
