off the subject of sparking zero, i know it's a few months late,but did you see animeajay's tweet back in April about the remaster only going up to the u6 tournament?
I did. I wouldn't be too surprised, as that seemed to be the parts of the show Toriyama was reportedly displeased with, and he seemed more involved after that point. On the other hand, however, it could also just be that's all they have in the tank for now and they'd do more depending on how well-received the remasters are. But based on the level of the work being done on these remasters, and the fact they're keeping some Super footage on top of new animations (a la Kai) I don't think a "remaster" of the Future Trunks or ToP arcs would be quite the "remake" the 'make it more like the manga' people seem to hope it would be anyway.
Why has the false super saiyajin form appeared so rarely in other Dragon Ball media? Plenty of other elements from the non-serialized movies and specials have appeared in video games yet the false super saiyajin form has been largely avoided.
Probably because it just ddin't do much. It appeared, it caught a punch, it did a couple moves, and that was it. Anything beyond that would be pure invention by the game makers. And from what I understand, that's about the extent of it in Sparking Zero too. lol
we haven’t seen much of Sparking Zero Chi Chi yet but considering this expansion is adding so many costumes she might have one! I’m just so happy this is also giving tag team ultimates of so many couples; Chi Chi and Goku, Gohan and Videl, Krillin and 18?! I’m so happy!!
now I just need King Kai and a tournament of power glup shittos expansion and this can comfortably be my favorite DB game of all time.
Yeah, it's honestly a pretty great DLC pack! Would be awesome if we could get some more crafted scenarios to play through in the future, too.

I did. It looks great. Chi-Chi finally playable. Lowkey wish they'd let us have alternate outfits for her from later in the series too, but I'll take this for now.

Aight so there were some “Unpopular Opinion” threads going down last night and I found one for DB so I did it.

How bad is watching OG DB compared to watching OG (non-Kai) Z? I've never watched it (I know, I know, lol) because the lack of a Kai-esque recut with less filler kinda put me off
Nowhere near as bad, honestly, though there are times during the King Piccolo arc it feels like they get a tad extra with it. But never as bad as Z got.

krillin from dragon ball super is genuinely one of the most courageously unhinged characters in all of anime and i will not be taking criticism
okay so people sleep on krillin constantly and i think it's because they're measuring him by the wrong standard
like yes obviously he can't compete with goku or vegeta or literally anyone in the top tier of dragon ball super
he knows that
HE KNOWS THAT
that's the whole point
he's not standing up because he thinks he can win. he's not deluded. he has done the math and the math said sit down and he looked at the math and said

and then walked into the fight anyway
fully informed. completely aware. zero illusions about his chances.
that specific flavour of courage — knowing exactly how bad the odds are and showing up regardless — is so much rarer and more impressive than the courage of someone who just doesn't understand the danger they're in

What in the world do people mean when they say that dbs beerus will be more accurate to the manga instead of the anime?
Considering the manga was, at the time, just a preview manga, I'm not sure. Fact of the matter is that it's going to be closer to Toriyama's original Super drafts. We don't know what's in there, only that both the manga and anime have put their own spins on it. This would be closer to that.
Speaking of slice of life, I feel like I am the only one who feels that dbs going seasonal would mean we would get less slice of life because everyone i mention this to never replies back to me and say they feel the same. What about you?
Not necessarily. I think there are examples of seasonal anime that still manage to include SoL moments in there. But honestly, for the sake of the animators and writers, just having more time and room to perfect things and not have to crunch, it's likely a change that would be for the best of those working on it too.
can you explain what you mean when you said that dragon ball doesn't necessarily need more slice of life.
Just that the series is fine as-is, but more character moments are always welcome.

I have none for that very reason. I'm not sure what all is actually being done to it, how it's being revised, etc. I'm sure I'll have many thoughts once we find out.

A little, yeah. Kinda wish we'd at least gotten a peek at the chaos of life back home during all of this. Especially the parents. But they wanted to focus on the adventure aspects, so I get it.

what is more important to db, having good animation or having good stories?
Having good characterization, as it's primarily a character-driven series, imo. But of the two, I'd say story is a bit more important. Animation/Art quality IS also important, however, as it's a visual medium.
seeing the main character of dragonquest xii makes me wonder how close are we the very last db project with involvement from toriyama because sooner or later we will run out.
This is it. That was the last protagonist he designed before he passed. XV3's cast were the last DB characters he designed. There might be more unreleased we haven't seen, but chronologically, this is it.
