i like how wujing has just enough scruples to ask why there isn't one for sanzang but also not quite enough scruples to refuse the stolen (albeit magnificently rare) fruit

wujing: (desperately tries to get bajie to stop being embarrassing)

episode 9 was released back in 83, over three years before episode 8, but it's nice to see some typical bajie impatience (let's eat alreadyyyy)

wukong: lmao what a fucking brag (proceeds to casually namedrop seeing lord lao zi's gate back when he caused havoc in heaven)

aw :') it's nice seeing sanzang be the tang priest in action and make a point of ceremoniously shaving wujing's hair, which is sort of filmed like a parallel to the time he sewed wukong's tiger-skin kilt. it's not a major action like the fights, but it's a key affectionate introductory moment between master and disciple and it's quite charming

the heavenly punishments for even the mildest of property destruction are so disproportionate ;(

ok yeah, it's pretty reasonable for wujing to be like, i don't want to go with the guy who fought me for two days and the guy who helped him and is now cackling at me
