i'm up to re: afterlife in my resi movie/tv marathon, and dear god in heaven, why did wtrc get so much hate? it's not "good", but it's fun, and it's practically casablanca in comparison to all the anderson movies so far (and it's NOT like they're gonna get any better from 3 onward). i don't usually like to weigh comparisons to other films so heavily in my reviews, but with reboots, it's merited! that's the whole reason i'm even subjecting myself to this marathon (in addition to being interested in the animated flicks) in anticipation of the new resi movie releasing, so that i can truly appreciate it as an effective resi movie if it slaps.
i feel like watching 3 bad movies in a row, 2 of them being truly shit, 1 (APOCALYPSE) being the worst, most unenjoyable film i've subjected myself to in years, has hardened me into a shell of a man. what if the resi live action movie curse strikes again. surely resi 2026 cannot be worse than any of these. surely good movies still exist. surely the sun will rise in the morning. surely... surely... surely...?

Rewtrc isn't that good of a resident evil movie, but it IS a great movie. It's so fun, it's fun to watch and being resident evil flavored makes it even better. If you don't spend the movie indignant about how much the story is off, it's so fun to watch and they threw so much money at it that it looks gorgeous and the soundtrack is awesome
