I was waiting for the M train to the city, and you tapped my shoulder. “Does the train on this side go to Flushing?” you asked without looking me in the eye, the way one does when they are uncomfortable asking for help. “No.” I lied. Well, I realized two seconds later that I had. The story could have ended there, and why not? You hadn’t even looked me in the face while asking for help. But I decided to catch you before you hopped on the train fast approaching on the other side. It was a fun exercise running down and up stairs, but I caught you. The story ends happily, with you successfully getting to your destination. At least I am guessing you did since we did not follow each other to the same car. That would have been weird.

I’d just surfaced aboveground when you asked me where Houston was. “It’s a bit of a walk from here,” I’d started to say, but you were already walking off in glorious rudeness. I am glad you did so because I did not know what the fuck I was saying. Houston is not a bit of a walk from West 4th, unless you are a tourist, which you must have been to be asking me where Houston was. Of course you were rude too, so maybe you’re a local? Either way, I am truly sorry.
