Rain pattered in the street, bouncing off the white fringe that framed my glasses, and down Val’s metal cigarette.

‘Smoking is gross.’ It is. It’s ironic that it wasn’t even one of our top ten concerns.

“I could bring you back.” I licked my lips. It was wrong.

The echoes of soda cans—cherry and blue raspberry—crashing against concrete alley walls fills my chest with warmth. If it weren’t for the cold soaking my bones, I could keep lying to myself and say that the world feels right again.

It’s bullshit. It’s immoral. There’s a billion reasons not to.

“No. You’d hate that.” The bouquet drops from my hand onto the dewy grass.

He’s dead. Nothing is changing that.

Student!Finn: If you shit your pants right now, I’ll give you five dollars.

Student!Mike: Why would I do that? Five dollars is nothing. Make it fifteen

I had intended to post this earlier but I ended up getting swept a way by a myriad of projects. I’d like to think that the progress I made this month was more than substantial.

I added a lot more scenes to help with pacing & context. I’ve also deleted some scenes(good bye Kai’s awkward introduction with his godfather, I will miss you dearly)to make way for better brighter storylines.

There’s a period in the near middle of writing a book that I fear for the course of where aproject is going and wonder if I can deliver a satisfying arc or end

—unfortunately the reason for I’m blue and The Dragon Waltz’s hiatus—

but with third draft (second if we want to get semantic on whether or not a vomit draft is a pre-draft or not) on its way I’ve developed a sense of pride knowing how much more well rounded and full it feels now.

I now have a beta reader so things are looking up.
