is there a way to tag queerplatonic or ambiguous relationships on Ao3 in a way that doesn't involve the & or / symbols? the fic i'm writing definitely has relationships that fall into non-romantic, non-platonic categories, but i don't really want to state them as either romantic or platonic (or both) in the relationship tags.
IG i could just say "ambiguous [ship name]" or QPR [ship name]" in the general tags, but it almost feels like an afterthought, you know? I don't wanna have the ambiguous or queerplatonic things overshadowed by the binary of "romantic/sexual vs. platonic," especially if it's not clear from the character's (or the writer's) viewpoint if things like romance are happening or not.
#i suppose you could just state “A/B (ambiguous)” or “A&B (QPR)”#but it still has that connotation of “THIS is what's happening between these guys”#and that's still something that really doesn't work if the relationship is presented in a way that isn't 100% one way or another#it's still drawing in those connotations of two big extremes. it's not fully ambiguous either way you put it#which is a problem if you have something that exists fully outside of those classifications or can't be defined in an absolute way.#perhaps i am but a confused aroace ranting. but.#sometimes a boy just gotta rant.#writey#queerplatonic#ao3#fanfiction#rambles#not tolkien
