I’m behind (of course), but here’s my author introduction for #nanothatwrimo! 👋 If we haven’t met, let me introduce myself. My name is Kelsie, and I’m a writer. It took me a long time to accept that about myself, but I’ve finally embraced it. I love to write stories of hope and heartbreak, and for me that encompasses both contemporary women’s fiction and fairy tale inspired fantasy. My current WIP is heavily inspired by my hometown of North Pole, Alaska—where we say it’s always winter but never Christmas. 😉🤣 ❄️ I have two kids, a 4 year old son and a 10.5 month old daughter. As I embark on a new short story for an anthology to be released early 2020, I keep thinking of this quote. I’m finding this true the more I write. People don’t remember the sentence structure or even a wonderfully crafted paragraph or metaphor. They remember the emotions your sentences and paragraphs evoked in them. #writingquotes - Likewise in life, people don’t usually remember the words you said but the emotions you brought to life in them. That doesn’t give us a free pass to say what we want, for words have meaning, but it should guide us to the spirit of the words we say and the heart in which we say them. - What book brought emotion to you? Any emotion, fear, hate, respect, awe, love...? Was it a character you hated or loved? I'm pained by how much slower my rewrites of book 2 are going than I anticipated. To be honest, I always think I can do things a lot faster than I end up being able to do them. Anyone else? #writingcommunity - Maybe in a perfect world I could get everything done at the pace I wished, but in the end, I'd rather take the time to get it done right rather than rush. - What I learned on my 2-week vacation from responsibility (aka my trip to England) was that you'll always have distractions. (And I can't rewrite a 100K-word novel in two weeks.) - What's the fastest you've written a novel start to finish? - I rotate through projects so much that I might write something in January and return to it in July, spend a couple of months rewriting it, then maybe (if I'm lucky) publish it six months after that.
