i think one of my favorite things about the trek comm / fandom is how we apply what we know of the world today and things that are familiar to us to the future for no other reason than we just don’t know what the future holds. like my jim has zero ( 0 ) reason to be a packers fan other than that i love football and think aaron rodgers is the best qb in the game ( and that greenbay is closer to an iowa market than carolina is ). do i have any idea if football will exist in 100 years, let alone into the 2200s? no. but i love it here and now and want to take it with me going forward and apply it to the future and, say what you will about jayjay abra.ms, i truly think part of that is why trek is in the conversation of things today and this reboot has been successful is bc abrams took what’s going on and relevant in our world and applied it to the future so the future wasn’t such an anomaly to us and it’s easier to grasp and recognize bc we see the work that had to happen / still has to occur instead of a utopia k thx for coming to my ted talk bye

last post before i go to sleep ok so last year on one of my fam camping trips, we made a day trip to a nearby country town and we were having lunch in this awesome pub we love and anyway we were sitting there just me, mum and dad and i was thinking about how great it was that i was finally starting to feel happy again and like i was finding myself after having lost myself that year ANYWAY the pub’s tvs around the place kept playing music videos, and lo and behold, halfway through my beautiful angus beef burger, don’t change by inxs comes on and like that’s my anthem for finding myself and being happy again and like we were planning to have lunch earlier than we did but if we had i wouldnt have heard the song and holy shit i just remember thinking to myself...things are finally starting to look up again...everything i can hear and see and taste in front of me i love, and for the first time in ages that also meant myself
and that, folks, is one of my favourite memories of all time
