It must admit that Covid lockdowns has been good for remote workers and nomads, but not so much for volunteers. A lot of people has lost jobs, job offers, livelihoods and houses; where traveling and immigration plans was in place these dreams and expectations seem to have crashed to the ground in a thousand of rands of wasted money. Where job offers abroad may still be sort of abroad, no one seems sure if and when things will ever go back to normal normalcy. Viruses change shape, they never go away. The slow return to a slight case if normality that the demand for freelance work is getting less as employees return to their places if work. Keep searching... A lot of people have it figured out, and thy are still traveling abroad and earning. I wish we have it figured out... still trying. That means having to find some side-hustles between volunteers jobs until we someday do. One year ago, I had just arrived in Namibia in Southern Africa. The photo above is the start of my morning shift volunteering in a surf hostel there. I took this photo at 4:51 am after coming back from the only club in Swakopmund. I knew I was going to have to pull an all-nighter so I set up half of breakfast and fell asleep on the couch for an hour before my shift started. The work at this volunteering was a lot, but my volunteer group and manager were amazing. Looking at this photo, it's funny how places have different smells ahaha I can smell this house and the feeling of being in it.
