First I did the drawing of the characters, I don't have any screenshots of any of the steps before this unfortunately. I did a little bit of shading but not much, because I wanted to make the background so I can figure out exactly where everything should go!

I marked out the background in full with cyan and went over it with the basic colors, just to get a feel of what it would look like!

Got some detail done! I also mapped out which stones need to be which color based on the light and I added more detail to the lanterns

All of the lighting done and added small details like the city windows and a few vines. My favorite little detail that I put just for the fun of it, was the grass between some of the stones and the moss! I added those small details just to add a little more depth to the scene, not really with the intention of people noticing. Personally I don't like the vines and I think the ceiling and walls are a little too blank, but hopefully when you add back in the characters it can distract from that?

Why do they seem to bring more color and light to the world around them? IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE MEANT TO BE--

Anywho I readjusted their position and finished the shading!
